  1. those hard chin straps get really slippery and cause your helmet to slip, thats why i never wore one.
  2. i dont disagree. But do we need a several threads a day on a draft prospect for the draft in 9 months?
  3. congrats on the maybin thread. This board was sorely lacking a discussion on his abilities.
  4. Yes, thats what im saying. I havent focused on watching him, but from what i see he tends to be a speed rusher a al Freeney but without the ability to use brute force. My take is the Maybin will stay on this team, be used in passing situations until he shows otherwise. He will continue to frustrate many of the former NFL GMs on this baord and fans alike (like me) as he grows. He may not grow that much hard to say. He's a unique player, doesnt have a long resume, but def has some talent.
  5. yea he threw 28 INTs his first year, and the team was terrible, he hardly looked like the 2nd coming. Yes we all know he has been the best QB for some time so please. My point as you should have read it was that its ugly and you dont know what youve got right away. So it aint gonna be pretty if you throw levi on there and you wont know for some time whether you have manning or losman.
  6. I havent rewatched that particular play. But even assume we knew the route, an out for example, if he ran a 12 yrd instead of a 10 yd out it throws the whole thing off. No one looked good last night, well maybe our kickers but theyve had too much game experience not to.
  7. i dont disagree but throwing a rookie to the wolves rarely works.... and even when it doesn it aint pretty (see manning)
  8. I agree. My only point is that the odds are stacked against him due to his size. He cant afford to make mistakes bc he will get pancaked. a quick look at the 2009 sack leaders tends to back up my point. http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?tab...;seasonType=REG most OLBs are playing (listed) at or around 260lbs. Granted some play lighter. I think what we are seeing is fans' overfrustration with a #11 pick who gets thrown around while hes learning. He may never "get it" and become and decent player. Well see. My take on him last night ---- and yes ive watched more film in my day than most, as well as having played for over 10 years----- is that we see a guy playing between 230-250 lbs who is hustling his keester off but making mistakes. Hes raw, hes fast, but hes trying. The real test is the film breakdown, if you continue to see him play then the coaches see something on film they like, if his snaps change to only against 2s and 3s then he is not showing something. The problem with making assessments from watching the game on TV is 1) most dont know jack about football schemes, 2) you dont know the particlar play / coverage called, 3) even if you did or could guess, the sideline view sucks. even the Lee evans thread discussion.... you dont know at what point EVans was suppsoed to break or when the ball was supposed to be thrown so discussion is only an exercise in futility, something of a pleasure on this board.
  9. Edwards wont get cut. its brohm or fitz. I dont understand the optimism with brohm. He was cut by GB and hasnt looked good in buffalo. Im not defending edwards i think he blows too but what has brohm shown? i guess well see thurs what hes got. Is it me or did anyone else notice that brown had a lot of zip on his passes?
  10. He is getting a legit chance. He's not good or he would be playing over trent right now
  11. youre using a UFC fighter in a street fight as an example? yea aaron maybin could beat a guy whos never played football who is twice his size so what. Size matters in the NFL.
  12. COaching style doesnt matter is my point. Marv was a players coach, Shula was a players coach, both are considered all time greats bc of their mastery of the game. Buffalo has an obsession with physicality, whether its football or hockey. They over-appreciate toughness or perceived toughness. Ill take a players coach who know how call plays and run a team over a hard ass any day.
  13. oh really? using the blocking chutes (sp?) in camp isnt new......theyve been doing it. Lots of teams do squats in the gym. If this team improves its because of X's and O's not because Chan doesnt let the guys watch sportscenter while lifting. Greg Williams ran a tough camp too and it meant jack shhhhhhhhh bottom line this team needs more talent not more old school stuff.
  14. too much self pity woe is me in WNY. Theres more money here than people think and I've spoken with the person who helped RW create the structure a long time ago. He doesnt own this team like you own your house or car. Assurances and safeguards are in place. Its still possible the team leaves but it would look nothing like how people are describing it.
  15. this discussion is completely silly. Ralph is a top notch businessman. He has attorneys working for him who understand the tax implications. He does not own the team outright but owns the corporation who does; therefore the situation you are all describing isnt relevant. Ralph cares very much about his legacy, and isnt going to "let the team leave with the highest bidder" Yes, I have direct knowledge of this.
  16. Well weight has to do with ability. He can be a weight room freak and be incredibly quick but playhing at 230-245lbs as an OLB in a 3-4 defense is pretty hard to do. Look at the sack leaders in the NFL and tell me how many play at that weight....... the point is that he ability is affected by being so light. OTs can swat him away easier....and they have.
  17. not impossible, just unlikely. he always looks small on the field. he's officially listed at 250 which i highly doubt.
  18. hes holding out to get the most money possible. so what. if you could get more money to do what you do at your job, many of you would take it in a heartbeat. He doesnt have that option. NFL have short careers and he's free to work outside the NFL if he wants. A lot of this holier than thou stuff and you hardliners really dont have an idea how the business works.
  19. Bring a nickel back in to cover spiller. Nobody is afraid of one on one w Johnson. Now you are in 3-3 formation essentially with db covering spiller and creep safety down for run support. Anyway if you are running youll have support of safety that was gonna cover Evans.
