  1. RIght off the bat, T Thomas did not have a good rookie season, he scored 2 TDs and avg 4.3 yds a carry. He also had something like 10 fumbles. Spiller is avg 4.1 yds per carry. Its way too early to make a call on CJ. It might be hard to draw a comparison to other guys who turned out fine, but in the majority of those cases they got all the reps. CJ is playing 2nd fiddle to Freddy right now.
  2. when Freddy Jackson's career long rush is only 43 yards i think the spiller pick makes sense. He was the best player on the board. He has to fine tune his running game for the NFL but ive seen more potential from him this year to hit a home run than ive ever seen from freddy. Spillers 95 yard KR for a TD should have opened some eyes to the fact this guy is talented.
  3. perhaps its TG, now that hell have more cash on hand.
  4. No no no, they did a good job of getting to big ben, but everyone does, he gives up a ton of sacks. My point is that stat from sunday shouldnt be cherry picked from a poor defensive season to show that somehow the D is getting so much better. The Bills D is worse this year than they were before Gailey, but the offense is better. Thats the point.
  5. i dont think he play last year was worthy of his new contract. He wasnt much better last season. He misses far more plays than he makes. Hes average.
  6. only 7 teams have given up more sacks this year than the steelers. Big Ben always takes a lot of sacks, he had 50 last year, 50!
  7. This team is showing signs of going in the right direction. While our O has gotten much better under CG, the D has gotten much worse. This team is farther away from the playoffs than most think.
  8. I think kelsay is going to be caught in the middle. He really struggled at 34 DE and while his play has been better with more 40 sets he hasnt been great. He made a big play on the goal line but had numerous opportunities for backfield tackles prior to that which would have resulted in much bigger plays. He plays too stiff and is far too easily juked out of his jock. I think he will be a piece of this team moving forward but i anticipate his role will diminish when they acquire players more athletic and more suited to a 34.
  9. when you see the qb pointing when he walks up to the line, hes pointing out the MLB or mike backer. Most protections are based off identifying the mike. From there the line willl have their own calls pointing out who they will be taking in pass protection or run blocking. There is quite a bit of talking at the line of scrimmage.
  10. Gailey also said dont take his comments too far or read into it. Simmer down.
  11. THe odds of any choice taken in the top 10 are about the same regardless of position. I cant agree that taking a QB who turns into the next steve young or Brett Favre is a worse choice than taking a defensive player. QBs are the franchise and without one you are going to be mediocre. This "fitzmagic" stuff is cute and fun but the reality is he's won two games against really bad teams. He is racking up some nice numbers, this is true. But do you really think this guy has the consistency to take a team on a run in the playoffs?? This isnt a budding young player, hes on a hot streak right now but odds are he will come back to Earth this week. As for the development of a QB, yea you are going to take your lumps like Indy did with Manning. But saying that if the bills pick a qb WGR and jerry sullivan are going to ruin him and the team will move to toronto is a bit far fetched. The team has D needs, no one can argue that. What D position do you advocate taking with a top 10 pick?
  12. Im at a loss for words. Taking a player, assuming he's as good as Manning, is the worst thing a franchise can do to build a winning team???? The bills have tried to solidify their lines like Indy did, see Wood, levitre, wang, hangartner. If a Manning type player is there you take him, its silly to argue otherwise. i mean cmon mannnnn
  13. Much more difficult to draft a franchise QB than to find a playmaker on Defense. QB is by and far the most important position in the game. Fitz has won two games against teams with a combined 4 wins this year. Our QB problem is not solved with Fitz.
  14. True. But the best shot at the next big thing comes in the first few picks. In terms of this years draft class, its looks like Luck and no one else is in that exceptional category of nearly cant miss players.
  15. Of course its obvious. Take a look at the best QBs in the game now and tell me which one besides Tom Brady was not a first round choice??? There arent many if any. So it does not ignore draft history. Fans just remember 1st round bust QBs more than DL or any other position. The best shot at getting the next big QB is in the first round and especially with the first pick. It wouldnt kill the Bills to pay a 1st round pick to hold the clipboard and learn from Fitz. Kinda how it works in the NFL.
  16. Funny how jerry sullivan and so many on this board were ripping Gailey for dumping Trent. Good coaching is seeing your mistakes and correcting them amongst other things. What many saw as ineptitude and weakness was actually a step towards righting the ship.

  18. In all fairness he shredded a piss poor defense with their backup safeties on a team with two wins. Why should he get a contract extension. Lets franchise him too. :wallbash: IF he has a monster game this week against a good D then we can start talking. Its kind of hilarious that after we beat two awful teams this board blows up with threads like "No need to draft a QB" or "we are set at WR". The Bills have looked better against two bad teams, but cant we at least wait until they beat a team that doesnt blow??
  19. Fitz is playing great and making tons of great plays. However it would be a huge gamble not to secure the future. Fitz has been around for a while and its unlikely he will continue on this elevated level. This thread is an overreaction to two wins over bad teams by a desperate team and fan base.
  20. Amazing how some ugly wins against two bad football teams will change peoples opinions.
  21. Its not easy to trade down. Teams value picks, and arent willing to trade them to move a few spots. Thats why you dont see madden like deals on draft day. Its not that easy. The bills will likely pick in the top 10 and will pick the best player available. they arent going to reach to fill a hole. Thats not how successful franchises are run.
  22. Interesting contrast. But this roster of castoffs and late round picks has only 2 wins and against awful teams. They do need more talent and more often that not that talent is in the first and second rounds.
