  1. Yea and SF and MIA are 6 and 7 against the run this year and didnt make the playoffs. actually half of the top 10 rush defenses didnt make the playoffs. those teams that didnt had QBs who performed better than fitzpatrick this year except for SF. Not quite as easy as fixing the run.
  2. all the more reason. our offense is not that much better than the D. I think the revelations of SJ and RP are blinding people a little to that fact. Fitz's number arent great by any means, and he has just as much time to throw as other QBs.
  3. whats a sensor nazi? do they sense when something is afoul and then censor it?
  4. ive said it several times, 1st round QBs get teams to super bowls and win them. this team will never seriously compete for that goal until they have a better QB.
  5. he might keep the D off the field by scoring points...... Our offense looked better this year but keep in mind they were actually pretty awful, look up the stats.
  6. many are saying he his the best QB prospect in years. IF thats true then he is worth making a move for.
  7. yea the defense was bad, the offense was NOT a lot better. ranked 23 overall and pretty bad in points scored. We cannot just draft a whole bunch of front 7 on D and expect to get better. every super bowl since 1983 has had at least one first round QB playing ...... think thats a coincidence? Whether or not they go O or D with their first pick .... this team is still in need of better QB play.
  8. yea nad theyve scored only 10 points in those games. They need offense, at least by your logic.
  9. Well said. Merriman has more potential and has already had more success than Kelsay.
  10. He was employed by NFL teams as a scout, hence he's a former NFL scout. Scouts come in various shapes and his position at some scrub school doesn't change that. being a blogger doesnt change that. what do you consider good sites? are they saying he projects as LT? ? I know a thing or two about the game having played at every level but the NFL and having coached for quite a while. I dont need a site to explain the intricacies of the game. But when NFL scouts and others are saying a kid is better suited for RT i think its something to consider. No one, including myself is saying he sucks, just that he prob will have to move spots to play at the pro level. http://draftbreakdown.com/player-profile-gabe-carimi http://draftdebacled.com/JoeyPotter/JoeyProspect.aspx?id=625 http://www.nfldraftbible.com/Players/List/2011-Big-Board/Gabe-Carimi.html http://www.sidelinescouting.com/rankings/ot/gabe-carimi.shtml
  11. Matt Miller was an NFL scout which is why you were lead to believe so. 1st paragraph. http://www.ninersnation.com/2008/5/19/520528/scouting-the-draft-with-ma Since then I have worked as a scout for NFL teams, have been credentialed to the NFL Draft, Senior Bowl, NFL Scouting Combine and numerous schools across the Nation. safe to say he has some idea what he's talking about. So before going off on another one of your lectures you should look into things. Maybe you have which is why you havent posted anything saying Carimi is gonna be a LT? im not sure, other than that you are very quick to jump the gun and use smiley faces in your posts. So all sarcasm aside, im not saying he or anyone ive linked to are the "gospel" but merely that Carimi is not really seen as a LT in the NFL by at least one NFL scout and several other sites. Could be wrong, but im pretty sure no one was saying these things about Jake Long when he came out, or Thomas
  12. Yes they are, these articles are written by former personnel evaluators not a TV talking head like McShay. And usually they arent wrong when talking about whether a guy is even suited to play a position. Just watch and see how Carimi gets graded as a RT as the draft moves closer. btw you only take LT with a top 10 pick.
  13. Thats my point, he was the best player on the board by many accounts. I dont recall there being a player of equal caliber in a position of need being available, hence the CJ pick. Many very successful teams (Pats, Colts) follow this philosophy. That pick had trade partners, its very difficult to trade a top 10 pick, esp for more picks
  14. maybe this http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?prospect_id=2416 The knock on Carimi is that he may not be a true NFL left tackle. In Wisconsin's run-heavy offense, he has been very good. But on an NFL team, most of which are balanced, his skill set is best suited for right tackle. Left tackles need good footwork and lateral agility, two attributes Carimi is lacking in. Carimi projects as a second round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. http://nflmocks.com/2010/05/03/2011-scouting-report-gabe-carimi-wisconsin/ Carimi projects as a left tackle but the question marks about his athleticism could force a move to the right side. Teams are hesitant to spend a high draft pick on a right tackle. http://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2011gcarimi.php Carimi will play in the NFL for some team and start at right tackle. http://newerascouting.com/2010/gabe-carimi-scouting-report/ He’s a power tackle best suited for the right side of the line. Carimi struggles some against speed rushers, but has good strength to anchor and seal. This one written by a former NFL scout These are different takes than the local puff piece you cited. It sounds like Carimi will be a very good NFL RT.
  15. Bc successful organizations don't draft need just to do it.
  16. You mean the guy who will have to move to RT in the NFL ? You would take a RT in the top ten???
  17. if there was some way to know how many beers theyve had, how would you in this case. It doesnt sound like this couple made a complaint to security. If they were so noticeably drunk etc why didnt you complain? they knew this was going on but did nothing.
  18. Your initial assessment may not have been wrong. Having extra time to prepare for an opponent makes pre snap reads much easier. Your initial assessment may not have been wrong. Having extra time to prepare for an opponent makes pre snap reads much easier.
  19. I dont know, i sit in one of those outside the 20 sections and havent had one person kicked out all year or had one person who should have been kicked out. If you think that type of behavior is just buffalo think again.
  20. If you think this is going to curtail anything i think you are mistaken, this isn't the first lawsuit of this nature by any means. They are very difficult to win. People have been complaining about drunk fans at sporting events for years, if you think this is a new or worsening phenomenon youre falling victim to the shark summer syndrome.
  21. in the past five years the Pats took a CB, LB, RB and S in the first round. They took two LBs and a TE in the 2nd last year. When they won the Super bowl in 2001, they had taken RBs with their top picks the previous three years, When they won in 03 they had taken a WR the year before with their second pick, when they won in 04 they took another WR with their second pick the year before AND a DB both in the 2nd round. Its a whole bunch of nonsense this draft only lineman stuff. You dont get better by drafting players simply to fill needs. The pats are the pats because A) they have a guy named Brady and B) they find good value with their picks, not because they draft lineman. Since 2000 the pats have picked in the 1st and 2nd rounds : 5 DL ; 3 OL ; 3 TE for a total of 11 lineman and TEs ...... they have also drafted 1 RB ; 6 DBs ; 3 LB ; 3 WR for a total of 13 skill guys. So wheres the premium on lineman?? looks pretty balanced to me.
  22. Great post. THose guys continued to do well even after their repsective OL and WR changed multiple times. QB drives success in the NFL. Theres just no way around it. And those guys you mentioned were blue chip prospects out of college.
