  1. Perhaps you should re-read that. Theres clearly more than one stat. Again, you do realize Brees had 4600 yards and 33 tds...oh yea he also went to the playoffs. Manning threw for 4700 and 33 Tds..... For the extra 1700 yards and 10 tds ill take a few more INTs.
  2. Yea in the games the bills won, ya know all 4 of them, Fitz avg 200 yds a game wiht 2tds and .75 INTs... awesome i know. He throws for 245, 1.6 TDs and 1.3 INTs when the bills lose.. funny how that plays out? You are missing the point. If the Bills think there is a potential franchise QB they arent gonna hold back from picking him bc Fitz threw for 3000 yards. You know what else Fitz did? threw the saem amount of INTs as rookie sam Bradford, who had a worse team, one less INT than Int machine Jay Cutler. Thats why this guy hasnt been a #1 except for the lowly Bills. Accuracy problems.
  3. Who knows about Mallett, but it does little for his draft status on a team's board. Perhaps testing, if there is any, will clear him. It would sad to learn otherwise. Ponder: what you say is just anecdotal evidence. Liking the guy and drafting him are totally different animals so lets not confuse the two.
  4. Yea maybe if Mallet could shake the drug use rumors that seem to follow him around. Word around the campfire is he will have to submit to testing for some teams. And no chance we take Ponder, if the Bills are going QB its gonna be at #3.
  5. Yea and Bradshaw was one of the best of his era, look it up. The overall numbers of players of his era were much lower. Talk about an argument with no merit.
  6. I know, Sam Bradford had a QB rating of 76 and threw 15 interceptions. Wasted pick and his career is 1/4 over.
  7. Yea and a good number of his TDs were in mop up time when the other team was playing prevent. Thats why he isnt being talked about as an up and coming QB. His numbers are inflated a little because how poorly this team was, and how much of his statistical gain was accomplished when the other team wasn't trying. Anyone who thinks that Fitz is the answer is delusional.
  8. No its not. ITs a good way to negotiate using a neutral third party. Typically both parties are not in the room together which can dial the intensity down a notch.
  9. I agree with what you said here, i didnt mean my post to be in reply to yours and i wasnt commenting on Jordan specifically.
  10. Thanks. Its as if GMs will disregard the football the kid has played because he runs a 4.2 and not a 4.3.
  11. except that as ive shown upthread, the rating dont really change. The only place theres any really movement is on these "mock" draft websites which are a mockery themselves. You see the teams essentially have their boards set before the combine nowadays. They might adjust a grade here or there based on combine performance but teams arent going to have players skyrocketing based on some drills and an interview.
  12. And if he's your guy and wont last until your next pick you take him, even if some guys on TV with slicked hair tell you he's only a top 15 pick.
  13. Most teams dont do a lot of changing of their board based on the combine.... its a myth to keep interest up and to get you to watch TV and click on websites. http://m.si.com/news/to/to/detail/2382928;jsessionid=8D800976594D3E7570169B59894A1D18.cnnsi2b http://blogs.baltimoreravens.com/2011/02/07/ravens-finalizing-big-board-prospects/ Teams pretty much have their board set and might adjust a grade a little based on watching a player run drills. Nobody rockets up draft boards........they might for the mock guys but not for the actual teams. So dont listen to the hype about combines making a huge impact. Nix has said as much.
  14. You have a point. But those mentioned also have/had football smarts, which can be measured on film and not so much from watching TV. Newton may not be a genius but coaches can get a good idea from watching film and fillling in any holes during the interview, such as why certain packages are employed against defenses. There you can get sense of his intellectual horsepower. Football smarts + the tools = great qb.
  15. Yes, true. But more of a gamble than a guy like say....... Fairley? He also only had one big year in college. The bills will take the highest player on the board at #3 whether he's O or D.
  16. Gotcha. If the Bills like him and dont think he will last until the 2nd they will take him at 3. If they really believe they can move back and take him AND someone is willing, maybe they will. Teams dont rate players all the same, some guys' skills sets dont fit their schemes or player preferences. Teams dont look at players through the saem prism as analysts and fans. If they like a guy and he has a high grade they take him, whether or not he was called a 2nd round pick by someone else. The Bills have so many holes to address its really hard to get this pick wrong, at least in terms of what position.
  17. where would you take him?
  18. So unless the Bills take a DL, this board will revolt and declare the management incompetent?
  19. or perhaps that part of the Defensive woes stemmed from the offense not staying on the field.
  20. how many games has Suh won for detroit?
  21. who are the great QBs who were one man machines?
  22. Bc any QB you take at 3 will be better than kaepernick, and drafting a qb to develop is .........looking at the future.
  23. So lets not take the best player, lets take a guy we need regardless of who is available. sounds like success to me!!! nevermind that the best GMs like Bill Polian are on record as saying they take the BPA. We should forego winning formulas and draft defense defense defense, trade down for more picks to take even more defense!
  24. never mind that teams like the colts and pats have built their respective franchises by taking the highest graded player when its their turn. besides what position on this team isnt a need ?? When we took spiller they knew ML was gonna be traded... and freddy is turning 30 soon.
  25. quite simply and im sure im not the first to say this...... You need a QB and you need Defense, you cant have them both be average and expect success. You CAN succeed with a great QB and average D. You CAN succeed with a great D and average QB. Super Bowl winning QBs are almost always first round picks, as are their opposing QBs. I think you are losing people by preaching about Defense when its been shown several times its not necessary to have in order to achieve success. The Bills need to improve at every position. Regardless of anyone's personal draft philosophy none of you have the duty to assemble a NFL team. Nix has been very clear that he is going to take the best player at #3. Not the best player they need but the best player. Turns out this is what successful franchises do as well. The skill is in hitting with your picks which we clearly havent been able to do. We can debate QB vs D, and specifically DL, til the cows come home but dont be surprised if they pick a WR or CB. The roster is a mess and you cant go wrong improving any position at this point.
