TO was a good marketing move, but this franchise just set Steve Johnson back a year in his development for a player that is tempermental, volitile, and tends to drop the ball in key situations. Also, our offense does not get a lot of chances with our defense getting run over like school girls. TO would be great for an average offense with a settled QB that are just looking for a spark at WR. I love TO's heart for the game, and he has sucked it up on a terrible offensive squad riddled with injuries, but he and the Bills are best served by him moving to a team that is not struggling on both sides of the ball. He would be happier, and our bench of young receivers would actually have a chance to grow with the team.

So 5 secs after I post we find he is nicked - your point? As long as Jackson is featured I'm cool with it. -

dumb dumb play... wasn't even near the run. That fat ol D-lineman was not going to catch Jackson. He just didn't want to take on a big boy up top. Rookie mistake. -

GOD is our o-line sttarted out terrible... do these guys workout? The last time I cannot believe how physically overmatched those guys are. -
ummmm... Hell No! The day that happens, I start following the Vikings. With their 4 SB losses I could make the switch without feeling too guilty.

How Sam Bradford Goes To Buffalo
ColdBlueNorth replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he isn't 100%, and they haven't lost much with Calleros, maybe Pike will drop in the draft. I just like his size and arm, and the fact that he played in the rust belt. A lot of great ones have come out of PA and Ohio schools and we do not need a prima donna that is going to fold under adversity. Rebuilding the offensive mess we have is going to take a QB with a great deal of mental toughness - a decent health insurance plan and concussion clause wouldn't hurt either. If he drops we could maybe pick up a tackle in the first that can play for more than a game without getting hurt. The coaches and some fans may have been high on Bell, but he needs a few years of strength and conditioning before he is NFL ready IMO. -

It is always a crap shoot behind our inexperienced O-Line, but I think I have seen enough of warm-weather/California college QB's to feel that isn't the answer for playing at the Ralph late in a season. Although Losman was from Cali and he was pretty durable - just couldn't feel the rush or learn to check down - Trent has just the oposite issue feels the rush even when it isn't there and checks down all the time. Out of the upper tier QBs I like Pike from Ohio. At 6-6 he has the frame to put some size on him to be a bit more durable and he can play in weather. -

Home... checking FF site. I smiled, and remembered what it was like to have some hope for the future of the Bills. -
Could Fewell be the next Mike Tomlin?
ColdBlueNorth replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That would be the guy, but to be entirely honest he really wanted to go back to Pittsburg. I thought I read somewhere that he had family there or kids attending college or something to that effect. -
I agree. Marty is affordable, a good teacher, has enough contacts to assemble a respectable staff, and could mold this young offense with some solid draft picks and a few key signings. We need an offense that can make first downs and not turn the ball over. He is a coach that knows how to bring along a QB, and he knows how to get the tight ends involved in a game. The fact that folks would talk about needing a coach who doesn't lose in the playoffs is ridiculous. How about we make it to the playoffs and see what happens? Like the saying goes, you have to be in it to win it. If Marty can get us there, I will be happy to roll the dice with him. I do not think I have ever been sold on the 4-3 defense here in Buffalo. Although I like Perry I hope he does not stay on after the season - assuming that he doesn't pull off some miracle of a turn-around with this franchise. We are still a dominant defensive tackle and big play-making linebacker away from being a solid defense. We have a lot of guys injured and the return of Michell would help, but I have not liked how our D-line holds up against the run for the last 5 years. It has been pathetic for so long I almost forget what it was like when we had Ted and Pat manning the middle... almost. If we shored up the run defense - who knows? Our secondary is very good. What of Maybin? Is he a project? A bust? I can tell you what he has been, he's been a non-factor. Modrak and Guy should pack as well. Although they have found some late round gems thier wasted 1st round selections are killing us.

Isn't that the guy that could not survive outside of Dick Vermeil's shadow?

Could Fewell be the next Mike Tomlin?
ColdBlueNorth replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tomlin doesn't make the Steelers defense go - that's all Dick LeBeau. Exotic blitzes, big upfield rushers, and solid linebackers. Tomlin inherited a much more complete team with a much better supporting staff. -
Clements - good speed, but hands of stone... I remember so many passes that he would get his hands on, but could not haul in. Wanted waay to much money and if there is one thing that the Bills do well it's been drafting DB talent. I was more upset when they let Winfield go to the Vikes. Pound for pound that little dude was the best open-field tackler I ever saw.

DeSean Jackson v. James Hardy
ColdBlueNorth replied to sharper802's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is a bit early, but so far Hardy has been injury-plagued and has not been very noticeable the few games that he actually started. That being said, other than a good marketing move, I think Owens is keeping some of our really good WR prospects on the bench such as Steve Johnson and I would like to see if Hardy can justify his selection now that I believe he is healthy again. I would be surprised if the front office tries to resign Owens, and I would have to think he would be happy to get out of here. -
Thurs Practice Injury Report - Headache?
ColdBlueNorth replied to ColdBlueNorth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Had to give my mother her morphine and anti-nausea shots during her final stage of pancreatic cancer when she decided home was better then a hospital for her final few months. I can imagine a thing or two about pain. -
Thurs Practice Injury Report - Headache?
ColdBlueNorth replied to ColdBlueNorth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lori reminded me about his concussion which is a legitimate reason to stay out. Apparently, my topic has expanded to whether sitting out of practice or a game with a migraine is legitimate. My brother and I have both suffered from migraines, but I still went to work. Not pleasant at all, but you suck it up. He still gets them fairly regularly, but I somehow grew out of them. -
Thurs Practice Injury Report - Headache?
ColdBlueNorth replied to ColdBlueNorth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Forgot about his concussion.... my bad. Some of my impatience with Nelson is that I think he could be a big difference-maker on the field, but so far he has been injury plagued. -
Dude... take your meds. No one can read between those lines because there is nothing there to read.
-
Defensive end Chris Kelsay was added to the Bills' injury list after he didn't practice Thursday due to a sore back. He is expected to start Sunday. Williams, safety Donte Whitner (ankle), right tackle Jonathan Scott (ankle), tight end Shawn Nelson (migraine headache) and fullback Corey McIntyre (sprained knee) did not practice for a second straight day. Not to question the toughness of this team or the coaching staff, but could you imagine getting out of a Belechick practice with that excuse?

I have read quite a few posts commenting on Fitz passes straying, but the game I saw had protections breaking down all around him. If he wasn't getting pounded he was throwing while back-peddling, running for his life, etc... When he did have time he looked good. Our o-line has to be better before we seriously consider how good our QBs are. That being said, I think that Fitzpatrik sees more of the field than Edwards does and he has hit some difficult out and intermediate routes. That pass he threaded to Evans in the end zone was the kind of quick decision making that Edwards has not been able to make for a long time.
-
The interior of the O-Line really isn't getting any push. Too many of them standing around after plays when they should have had a helmet on someone. I thought drive blocking was supposed to be the easiest thing to teach... go figure. I'll take the win either way.
-
I thought that they were rushing Bryd into the lineup too early, but I can see why he caught their eye. Now if we could just get some push and run-stopping from our D-line this would not be a half bad defense.
