  1. Grill.... http://sportsnickel.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/chris-johnson-face.jpeg May want to invest some of that $ in a toothbrush, or gold plated dentures. Nasty.
  2. OK. This is going on my signature line. LMFAO
  3. It's one thing to have that opinion, and another to voice it to your fans who may or may not be out of work. It's a maturity and wisdom thing on how to treat others with some respect. All that being said, these guys tweet every time they cramp up and pass gas.
  4. If ever a post needed Eball to put the smack on it... ...and yes, that dead horse has been thoroughly kicked - just giving him the business if he is lurking about. That Crayonz Eating guy has some good one's and I am not sure if this isn't his work, it is on par.
  5. Agreed, what a circus. Unfortunately that attitude and character is more the norm than not. I find myself pleasantly surprised by our character guys who are good athletes too - Wood and KW come to mind and it is a bit early, but a lot of the others strike me as grounded as well. He could have said something like "players are always one injury away from retirement" or something to that effect and not come off as a complete $$-grabbing punk.
  6. Man I cannot wait to see the new Sabres on the ice this year. We should have one heck of a team. What will the Bills brass do if a first year owner with a commitment to winning brings B-Lo a championship?? Would Pegula consider going into the Kelly business consortium to be a majority owner of the Bills. Not a bad scenario to imagine. Money does not buy championships, but I do believe that a commitment to winning and a willingness to spend the money to get there doesn't hurt your chances.
  7. I too thought Spencer was a good role player, but not enough of an impact player to merit much attention. I really thought he was the typical second-string fodder that the Bills brass normally sign off other teams. Last year did not change that opinion much. Whatever the reason, maybe he had some lingering issues with his old knee injury who knows, but he has been coming on really strong in camp and in these preseason games. I hope he carries it into the regular season. I was going to post about Troup's hand, but someone already did that. Being able to rip and shed blocks is a must on the D-Line and he is simply at a huge disadvantage if he cant do that well. Willing to wait to see if he can contribute. Pears has been serviceable, but he didn't embarrass himself last year. I agree that Bell's play is definately more of a concern. After all the work he got in last year and the opportunity to come back rested and healthy he gets dinged right away and actually looks as if he has taken a few steps back in his technique and development. I would also mention Aaron Williams, he makes plays in the secondary and seems to be in the right place at the right time for a rookie he has been pretty impressive. Considering McKelvin gets dumber each year he plays the game the Bills needed an infusion of help in the secondary. With McGee's penchant for injuries, having to start Leodis in his spot is a scary prospect.
  8. It was just a topic like any other. Haters always be hating If you think the post is inane you are entitled to your opinion. And BTW thanks for the backhanded comment about anyone who has followed football for more than a year - typical of what I have seen from you lately. With the lockout most folks that follow NFL football know that this is not your typical year and with less time to work out the kinks in camp and with all the personnel changes coaches may approach that last preseason game differently. Perhaps play their starters longer - who knows. Some may find that a worthwhile discussion, although it apparently does not meet your standards. As I said before, "just move along then". If you wanted to say that you think they will not play the starters for too long, then say that without all the negative editorial. Editorial that you may be surprised to find, does not lend your posts any more credibility than the next guy that thinks they know more about the game than anyone else. Talking down to everyone does not mean that your opinions are better than theirs - just that you think they are.
  9. We do seem to be missing that element, but that Johnny White kid looked interesting in his few games. He might be that goal-line back we have been looking for, but I don't know if it is the quality of our backs or the push of our line that causes our short yardage issues. It will help that we have so many big receiving targets that other teams have to respect that we may just throw a jump-ball to Easley or David Nelson and that TE pickup Chandler is not that shabby. Still waiting for Shawn Nelson to emerge.... and waiting....and wait
  10. That would be interesting, but I think that Fitz or any other starting QB would get peeved at calling someone else's number to throw the ball. I could see Smith lining up wide for reverses, or in the backfield but motioning to the slot position to get that Poz-kind of match-up with an empty backfield. Smith is chemical X for Gailey's mad science offenses. Unlike the high school plays we saw under Jauron, I expect Gailey will actually have them executing those plays successfully. Something that was woefully missing with all of our reject defensive-minded Head Coaches with the likes of Trentative under center.
  11. My thoughts? That's funny, I can't see Jasper successfully shuffling from the A gap to the B gap in time to get a whiff of the runner. I think Jasper can be a Nose Tackle in this league, he is definitely a project worth keeping around as long as he can keep his weight "down" below 380 or so for starters, then next year get around 360. He is in the Ted Washington mold - you just don't find men that massive and broad that can move too often.
  12. Um, agree. Smith is like a change of pace back, a gimmick that other teams have to defend. Even then, he is going to have to prove that he can actually throw the ball or everyone is just going to key on stopping him when he takes off. The wildcat has it's place, especially down near the goal line where the D has to respect him on options as well as the fake draws and sweeps. It forces them to have to cover Jackson and respect what Smith can do with the ball. We should score some points with that offense.
  13. Totally agree. I thought Bell was a back that we should have kept around. Did nothing but show he could move the chains. If he can stay healthy, he should break a roster somewhere. I firmly believe that good starting running backs can be found just about anywhere in the draft which is bad for running backs because there are not many going in the early rounds of the draft anymore. Heck, a really strong case can be made that they can be found outside the draft look at Arian Foster and Blount in Tampa.
  14. Wow...back at you. I don't know if "scared" was ever mentioned, but nervous about losing Fitz to a meaningless preseason game did. Or are you jazzed about seeing Thigpen as the starter this year? It's trash like your comments that make normal people not want to post on the Wall, but I have seen your topics and comments before so its no surprise and definitely not going to make me stop posting. Been posting here since it was a board on the D&C and have seen more than my share of inflated virtual egos and posters that thrived on antagonism. Do you have anything meaningful to add eball, or do you just troll along grading the quality of posts by your "lofty" standards? I received decent feedback on this post from folks including the fact that Fairley has been injured most of the preseason - I did not know that, and I find that interesting considering our match-up. That is what posting a topic is about. Telling folks to stay on topic, blanket statements that all Bills fans are "chicken littles", oh and my personal favorite was the implication we were going to have a "get-healthy" first quarter offense against Denver because they were missing two defensive starters... really? Have I ever crapped on any of your stellar posts? No. If you don't like a topic I start, feel free to get bent & move along sans the grading stupidity.
  15. If Fairley is out that will be good, though Suh is the guy with the edge; getting quite a reputation for head-hunting and body-slamming QBs ala Dalton and Cutler. Just need to double up on him or keep Jackson in to slow him up I guess.
  16. They have a obscenely talented Defensive line and we have an offensive line that is passable on their best days. These guys need to find their A-game and bring it. Chan better start working overtime on protection schemes so Fitz doesn't get killed by Suh, Fairley, Bosch, and Averil. I just want this team to get through this next game without losing any key starters. Maybe Chan sits Fitz and runs the wild cat for the whole game.
  17. I think Jones can play with the big boys, I like Easley in the lineup though... nice problem for the Bills to have. Guys get nicked up and it looks like we will have the depth to have others step in.
  18. Just some rambling thoughts about the game and state of the Bills. yeah it is Fitz fault when Von Miller blew by Bell and dropped him, and when Easley totally alligator arms a perfect ball to avoid a hit and ends up tipping the ball to the defense. I think most of the Bills were just trying to get through the game without getting injured, and that approach backfires when the other team is hitting. I think Nix has done a good job with the defensive draft selections. McKelvin who isn't a Nix pick has always bit huge on every stop-go, shoulder shrug, twist and juke; you look at a completed pass and you will usually see McKelvin recovering a few yards behind the play. He's a liability out there and it shows when he is the DB that is consistently targeted. He's a spaz always trying to do too much. He has the speed, but he needs ludes or something to keep him from trying to jump/overplay every route and just play sound technique and positioning. Our O-line is just not very good and what few steps were taken in the off season were not sufficient to hide the issues. Chan knows that he has a steaming pile, you can tell that by what Chan has focused on installing in camp: 3-step drop quick slants, screens, and draws, but those will only get you so far and defenses will crowd the box once they understand that they do not have to worry about the long ball. I've seen it a thousand times (Tommy Boy). Obviously, this year they focused on defense, and I think we will be much improved on that side of the ball. I agree that Bell's biggest weakness has been...weakness. He does not have good upper body strength, nor lower body strength to handle the bull rush. He has good lateral speed, which Miller still exploited last night, but I think Von Miller will do that to a few Left Tackles this year. Keep in mind that the Bills did not game plan the Broncos, and you game plan as much to hide your own weaknesses as to capitalize on the opponents. The Broncos were a good passing team last year and I expect they will be again, but Wannstedt would have had a game plan to bring more blitz and pressure on Orton had they not been playing vanilla. We play these guys again so there is no need to tip your hand to them. The Broncos looked better straight up, but we will see if their preseason performance translates over to the regular season. And yes, Ralph is cheap (let's get that out of the way), and yes the Modrak years will go down as one of the worst times in Bill's history in regards to drafting upper round talent. He hit on some jems in the later rounds, but that is where the cheapness comes in - those jems get trained on the NFL farm team (Buffalo) and when they show enough potential to be paid well they are shipped out of town. I still have mixed feelings about Green, he is no doubt an elite LT but he also did not honor his contractual agreements with the club that gave him his shot at the NFL when he was not even drafted and the Bills gave him the tutelage of the great "Mouse" to become an elite tackle. He owed this franchise to at least play out his contract IMO. Then again, his departure hastened the jettisoning of Jauron, Modrak, and company so we may owe him a solid - like I said, mixed feelings Been watching crappy Bill's teams too long to panic during pre-season. Our offense is a ways from being ready, or O-Line depth is terrible, and our receivers have to adjust to life after Evans. We will have a better idea of what kind of team we have by the .500 mark.
  19. Evans suffered through a lot of crap with this team like we all have - bad coaches, bad drafts, bad QBs, bad teams. There are a lot of players who would have made a lot more trouble in the same situation. I hope Evans does well (just not against us), but I think the move is good for him and good for the team. We do have a lot of talented young receivers in the queue that need to get playing time to see if they have what it takes to make it in this league. Sometimes you just have to have a fresh start. I have to think that most of us have had jobs like that where it just gets hard to even show up in the morning (or night if you have ever worked a graveyard shift). It's not always about the money either; Years ago I had a job where I was getting paid very well for doing the equivalent of watching paint dry; 4 months of collecting checks and I let them know I was moving on. Sometimes you just have to feel like your accomplishing something at the end of the day.
  20. So true. He should just laugh his way to the bank and thank his lucky stars that there was an NFL franchise inept enough to throw millions of dollars at him.
  21. I can't wait for the Bills to face Maybin. Unless the Jets get him on the juice for the next few months and he puts on 50 pounds the Bills should run the ball right at him every time he is on the field. Even that is assuming the Jets keep him around after the preseason which is no given.
  22. Obviously Scott we need to to our homework to support our opinions and delusions. I read John's posts all the time and agree quite a bit with his observations, this was just one swing and a miss. I thought Nelson was going to be a stud receiver at TE, and that Easley was going to light up the field at WR. Let's see how those predictions go for me...the jury is still out on Easley whether he can stay healthy and the same for Nelson. Do any of our opinions have any impact on what the powers that be at OBD actually do - probably not on draft day, but we are the fans that buy the tickets and the Bills gear so I imagine collective griping makes it's way to them in some form or another. We have seen that various sports columnist troll this site to gather opinions that make it to the press and those opinions are reflected in comments by coaches and player twitter posts. In this new age of information sharing a butterfly flaps its wings and the stock prices for French banks tumble.
  23. I got "the Business" when we drafted Maybin and I said that his last name sounded too much like "Maybe"...but I understand that all of us were desperate to see a pass rush, but desperate moves translate into bad teams. It was a tongue and cheek comment so I was just begging to get flamed considering the collective mood of most everyone here at the time - it's not like I was was happy watching opposing QBs sitting back there untouched for 6-7 seconds the prior year, but I did feel that Aaron was a huge risk for a coach on the bubble. There was a good body of evidence from talent evaluators I actually respect that felt Maybin's one good year at Penn was a flash in the pan and his physical attributes did not warrant a high draft pick and he would project in the NFL as a tweener. That pick and the situation reminded me a bit of the Corey Moore pick out of VT when the team was looking for an edge rusher in 2000, but I thought that Moore was a better risk where he was selected in the 3rd and it was hard to ignore his 30+ sacks his final two seasons at Tech and to this day I think he would have been ok at linebacker if given the right situation (had similar attributes to our current Moats). Ancient history at this point, he was given a shot with the Bills and with the Dolphins and washed out - he is probably flipping burgers somewhere. The Maybin pick reflected what most of us saw as a pattern of reaching for potential in each draft rather than making solid picks - many times trading up to the first round to reach for a position of need. The other Jauron-Era annoyance was his fascination with lightweight linemen and linebackers with high motors I don't think any of us are shedding any tears as Nix jettisons the garbage, and the team moves on. I like where this team is heading draft-wise now sans Modrak.
  24. Finally the Bills Brass drafts a MAN in the first round. I was getting tired of hearing about quickness and speed and potential, while other teams were drafting powerful, feared, and immediate impact. Finally Bills brethren our prayers have been answered - can I get an amen? Just jazzed over our D-Line and linebackers - I know it is only preseason, but the potential to get even better is there and you guys know it ... Hello Mr. Sanchez and Brady be afraid, be very afraid.
