was it ever disclosed what easley has?
ColdBlueNorth replied to jester43's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Could it have been an adult ventricular septal defect. I thought that may have explained the rather drastic measures the Bills medical staff took to get him off the field and on IR, because correcting that I believe is an open heart surgery with a long recovery time and even after successful treatment there is a higher propensity for arrhythmia and sudden cardiac arrest/death. Just speculating, but either way I wish Easley a speedy recovery and hopefully a recovery that allows him to still play professional football. -

Anyone else notice CJ Spiller...
ColdBlueNorth replied to ColdBlueNorth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
16 yards on 2 carries, not too shabby yards/carry, but it is hard to fault Gailey for leaving Jackson in when he is playing at the absolute top of his game. I will never agree with the luxury pick for Spiller that Nix made (I feel that Gailey is really the one that wanted Spiller for his offense), we needed help on both sides of the line and a decent TE and I would have preferred to have seen them trade down for more picks on that first draft, but it is what it is and may still pay dividends. Buddy's second draft was defense, defense, and more defense. The jury is still out, but I think that Dareus, Sheppherd, Searcy, and Aaron Williams are going to develop into very good defensive players and this may go down as one of the more solid Bills drafts that we have seen in years - heck, even Hairston looked like a player on Sunday stepping in at LT. I am willing to be patient with Spiller as long as I see progress in his game and I see the kid getting stronger and running with a lot less hesitation. That first year it was a lot of dancing behind the line, a cloud of dust, and the slightest tap seemed to bring him down for a loss. He is playing much more solid this year, and it may have a bit to do with how spread out the defense is, but they often key on him when he is subbing for Jackson and he is still getting yards after the first hit. We may be very happy that Chan found ways to get Spiller at least a few touches each game if Jackson ever gets dinged up and needs to sit out a few games. -
that Spiller is running a lot harder off tackle? Is Freddie rubbing off on him? There was a few plays where I was sure it was Fred in the backfield and it was CJ. It would be a very good development if the kid finally understands taking what the defense gives him - make himself small, running hard, with a lot less dancing around. This offense could use another weapon and if defenses are not tuned into Jackson by now they are on stupid pills, so I could see CJ becoming more involved. If nothing else, as a good change of pace back to spell Fred after one of his, "I'll take that 5 yard screen 50 yards thank you very much" plays.

Eagle Fan Message Boards

I have to agree with you Tom, wallowing around in their misery made me positively giddy. Though, I did not kick them while they were down. Just enjoyed reading how pissed they were - fans can come up with some creative ways to verbally abuse their coaches and players Yep... feels good to have the shoe on the other foot for a change. -
Kyle Williams Injury?
ColdBlueNorth replied to bills_fan_in_raleigh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dareus consistently draws the double-team and even with that he doesn't get pushed back - rather he always pushes up field and is fighting guys off with his hands so that he controls his gaps. He and Kyle have done a good job of creating pressure up the middle without giving up the middle to runs, don't know how much more folks are looking for but the evidence is noticable in all the passes we are picking off and all the runs to the edges. -
The defense was alright, but is still plagued by the big play. Our secondary is still the biggest weakness with at least one receiver each week getting a zillion yards. Need McGee and Williams to get healthy. I saw more positives today than negatives. The defense did manage to get the iggles in 3rd and long more than a few times, but they just have to get more solid man coverage downfield and the sacks and stops will come.

At the seasons quarter mark....let's be honest...
ColdBlueNorth replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree, but then I think that way about a lot of teams. Look at the Steelers last year - Stevie's drop amongst other fortuitous bounces and they go all the way to the SB. Sometimes you would rather be lucky than good, but I get everyone's point. I too would like to see more consistently good play from our offense and defense. The offensive scoring in fits and starts and the defense downright giving up tons of yardage each week has to stop before I believe this team has crossed over to respectability. -
RIP you crazy ol' bastard... I can hear St Peter now, "there goes the neighborhood, and no, they don't come in black and silver." My proper Irish sending

I don't doubt the talent of their defensive backs and sooner or later it will start to kick in - if we spread them out and force them to play man that is actually to their strength; from everything I have read they are struggling with zone coverage and tackling. I would think starting in the i and seeing if they stay out of nickel then motioning guys into the spread would work to create matchups against their LBs, but I assume Andy will mimick the Bengals plan and stay with a nickel package most all the game. You would think that you could really gash them on that.

They may not be capable of handling it, but Chan also said you don't "panic" and change what you do.... I agree though, with Bell out it may be a really good idea to go I-formation max protect with TEs and run the ball down their throats. I doubt it will happen, but we can always hope that we will get the lead and be able to do something like that.

To be fair this statement "I know you put him in there with Haloti" may have a little something to do with his success. Just say'n
