  1. This game is gonna be a real dogfight. I understand the oddsmakers' view. Miami is gonna be charged up for this and they'll bring a ton of heat on our o-line. It'll be a tough, tough game to win (and come out of injury-free). We clearly have more talent than Miami, and our coaching has had us prepared for every game this year save one. I love our chances, but I can definitely see us losing.

The bills of previous years would drop a game like this. I think this is a different team, with a different attitude, and a qb that gives provides the confidence to win.

We are going to lay the smack down in Miami. Lee Evans is going to scorch this team. (like always)

  2. I know this is a joke (HAS to be...Marino's deep ball?)...but...

I really hope Trent turns out to have many of those, but it is a little early to know exactly how tough he is. Kelly was one tough SOB. Trent has yet to have the opportunity to show that kind of toughness. But, I trust he is tough enough.

I was referring to the trajectory of his deep balls Trent doesnt lob bombs or at least he hasnt yet. He throws his deep balls on a line.

Kelly was tough. Trent took a huge pounding at stanford. He proved hes tough QB. But i agree that he hasnt had the opportunity to prove his toughness in the NFL.

In no way am I saying that trent edwards is already as good as those hall of famers. But the question was who does trent most remind you of. So I threw some of trents characteristics that remind of some HOF qbs.

    Hopefully, he only gets better.

  3. Jim Kelly - simply because hes our next franchise QB. I just hope he continues to add to his abilities and become the QB of the future.

Here are some comparible characterstics in my opinion

marinos quick release and lazer deep ball

Montanas Ability to make the quick read

John Elways 4th quarter comeback ability

    Tom Brady's coolness

    Jim Kelly's toughness

  4. Quote of the day!!!!!!!!!

    :thumbsup::wallbash::wallbash:

The last home game I was at against Miami was a few years ago and unforgettable. On the way into the ralph at drive 5 there was two guys standing on top of a Bills custom painted red truck. One holding a 40 inch salmon, the other lighting the quarter stick of dynamite that was in the salmons mouth. They launched the salmon from the top of the truck over the crowd walking into the causeway. It blew up about 5 feet above 1000's of people walking into the game. I was 60 yards away and get hit in the face and in my bag of peanuts with salmon guts. It was dangerous and stupid but very impressive.

So the rivalry is still there.

Did anybody on the wall witness that?

  5. The Harp is great for the games. Literally, hundreds of Bills fans. Get there early if you want to get a seat. There is always standing room. It's an experience a Bills fan should not miss on a trip to Boston.

Dont even bother with the wings. If you are from the Buffalo/Rochester area you wont appreciate them. I grew up in Rochester, and Ive never found a wing outside of upstate new york that is up to par. But if you are a native of upstate, nothing compares.

  6. I have to disagree with that characterization of Leodis' play, on Sunday. He did struggle a bit, and both TD's were at his expense (although his coverage in the 2nd TD wasn't bad, at all), so I won't claim he had a spectacular day.

OTOH, as a rookie, in his first starting assignment, against one of the more efficient passing QBs in the league, I thought McKelvin acquitted himself fairly well. The Bills came into that game using a patched together defensive backfield, yet held SD to 191 passing yards, well below their season average.

You can see, simply by looking at the play-by-play log from the game, that Leodis wasn't exactly "abused". He was the #1 target of Rivers, it appears, but he didn't get as lit up, as we have seen young CBs get.

    http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/playbyplay?g...8&week=REG7

    Agreed.

First game he started as a rookie and he didnt play bad. You knew they were going to attack him as much as they can. Considering the QB and the receivers we played against, and it being his first start, I think he played well. 2nd TD was a perfect pass. Im not saying he played great but he played well relative to the situation.

  7. Hey Dawgg <_< Still think the Pats* D isn't old and/or their best, and final, shot wasn't last year?

Fred Jackson sure as hell played like a "great" player last week. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a look as an alternate pro-bowler. But, what does it matter? The fact is that he is a great part of this team, and we would certainly miss him if he was out.

My definition is the exact same that you hear everyone else use when the talk about the draft, so why is it suddenly only "convenient" when it is applied to Whitner?

Whitner made two game changing plays the first game he ever played. We are talking about a third year SS here, not a RB or a G, so let's realize that amount of mental work that goes into being elite at Whitner's position, especially in a Cover-2 based defense. We are coming up against teams/players Whitner has seen before, and let's see how he does. My bet is he's going to light them the f up.

WTF does McCargo have to do with any of this? So drafting McCargo makes drafting Whitner a bad idea? We drafted Whitner first! You have a lot of explaining to do on that one.

Whitner might not be as flashy or talked about as Sanders or Polamalu but the role he plays on our team is worth the early pick. He plays good football and hes a leader, and the Bills drafted him for that.

I cant speak to Sanders or Polamalu's leadership ability cause Ive only watched them play and not listened to them speak. I like what Dante Whitner brings to the team. I like that he tackled Wilson in the endzone for showboating at the Ralph. He has convictions, he loves the game, and hes a team guy.

  8. Gash, you are the racist here because you're setting the double standard between black and white. So showing up to a Bills game wearing a Trent Edwards mask is ok, but showing up wearing a Marshawn Lynch mask isn't? That's what I call racist.

hahahaha - that mask is great. You make a good point. Ive never seen that before but I doubt the intent of that is to be racist. The media spun it a little when they said a fan was wearing a "black face". Why did they write a fan was wearing Randy Moss mask?

I think that mask is funny. It looks like a mold of his face and it has a huge fro. When I saw the mask the last thing on my mind was its racist. People dress like other people all the time for halloween and I think that was the intent. To label that mask racist is overly sensitive.

  9. He's called "Beast Mode" because he named himself that. I love Marshawn but that name holds as much credence as "Ocho Cinco".

He didnt name himself that. His pop warner coach told him he runs like a beast and thats where his, "beast mode" came from.

Beastmode is discriptive of the way he runs and therefore relivant. Chad Johnsons ocho cinco nickname is arbitrary.

  10. Mort and Tom Donahoe are big buddies. Mort risked everything when he criticized the Bills for firing Tom Donahoe. He looked like an imbecile.

I guess Donahoe can't get his old job back as hosting the ESPN chatroom every Sunday.

Thanks, I didnt know that. Donahoe was a pretty bad GM.

Mike Mularkey was probably my least favorite coach after Marv left. I didnt really like Greg Williams or Wade Phillips either.

I like Jauron and Marv's influence on player and personell selection is paying dividends right now.

What other running backs were available the year we drafted McGahee?

  11. Lmao I think Emmit is great. I always get a kick out of the Monday Night Countdown when they're going to each person and Emmit has this coolaid smile like "Yeah they about to come to me and I'm gonna say some brilliant sh--" and then he opens his mouth. It never gets old :(

haha - Michael Irvin was the worst. He took a breath and paused after every word until the last 3 words of his sentence. The only thing he ever stated was the obvious.

And. Then.he. through. the. ball. down-the-field.

  12. its got to being killing mort that the bills are 5 and 1 lol

Im new to the Wall but Ive read a lot about Mort not liking the Bills on here. Is there any particular reason Mort is such a hater?

Either way, I think Mort is a loser. As a bills fan, im used to everyone hating on the bills. Emmit Smith cant even form a complete sentence. If I were a Dallas fan, I would be embarrassed for him.

  13. While I never post, I have been a member of this board for years, and I read what you all have to say multiple times a day. That being said, I want to call to everyone's attention what we are currently witnessing. We need to all stop and reflect on the fact that after a long 12 years, since the day #12 retired, we can finally relax and put our search to rest. The day has finally come where we can once again say we have a franchise quarterback. This season has started off great and as the excitement continues to build, lets not forget about our decade-long struggle, a struggle that many thought would never end. What we as Bills fans now have is a great start and a 5-1 record; additionally, we have something far more important. What we have is a bonafide franchise quarterback, someone who will lead this franchise for the next ten years or more. Many quarterbacks have come and gone, many with false hopes that you and I have bought in to. I am not afraid to admit that I liked Losman; subsequently, I am also not afraid to admit that I was a little naive. Ever year I vest my hopes in a new passer, someone that promises to provide a great future for this team and city. They have never kept their promise, but I continued to look for positives in all of the candidates to turn this team around. I no longer have to look, the positives in Edwards should look obvious to all of us. We all watch the games, so there is no need for me to explain what I mean. The guy we have under center is someone we can all rally behind. He is someone that might just be that person to lead us to where we want to go, as a team and as fans. It has been a long time coming, and I can quite honestly say that we all deserve this. Ten years from now, when we are still reading this same board, remember the day you officially realized our long search had come to an end.

You arent naive buddy. I love JP Losman for how much he loved Buffalo and the amount of effort he put in to being our guy. It didnt work out. I would love to see JP do well somewhere else because when he was here he wanted to be a Bill and tried hard. I can respect that.

That said, you make a good point.

  14. 4-0 with Edwards.

Schobel says the biggest difference this year is one word, Edwards. That was 3 weeks ago.

Edwards goes down 2 weeks ago and the team falls apart.

Edwards returns and the team rebounds.

In my opinion, as much as I like JP, the team doesn't want to rally around him, he may be a cancer. Great guy to have in the lineup, but may be hurting more than helping.

You are right. That guy is a waste of life.

  15. Brees losing record, Cutler one a game handed by the refs and havent seen enough out of this year, Portis not argueing that.

    Agreed

    5-1

Said this before, but technically trent edwards has not lost a game yet. Cutler is talented and impressive to watch. Portis is playing great. You cant knock any of that.

Trent Edwards is winning games. Most important stat is wins. I dont care if Trent isnt flashy. I like that we are creeping up on people and its us against the world. Any quote you read this year from the players says there is great team chemistry from the top down. Trent believes in DJ, the team believes in Trent, Dante believes in Trent and Dante he is our Darryl Talley. Everyone believes in DJ, we as fans have been believing for years, and now the team believes. Trent = MVP

There is alot more that goes in to winning games than stats.

  16. Dick Jauron is an organizer and a delegator. When you are losing, those are bad qualities, but when you win, they are good qualities.

Great management qualities whether you are winning or losing. I dont see those as negative in any light for a coach. I always liked to play for motivating coaches. It has taken me a while to warm up to Jauron cause he doesnt appear to be a motivator. However, im not in the locker room, and I wont presume to know what Jauron says to our team in the huddle on a 90 degree day in the middle of August, or before we go visit the dolphins next week.

I like the position our team is in. His leadership has our team believing right now. You cant argue with that.

  17. After years of frustration I can kind of understand some frustration but when Levy came back and people were criticizing his moves (i.e. Jauron and Whitner and a multitude of other things.) it was waaay to early to criticize. IMO, you have to believe the best will come of his moves. Somebody said that some people would rather be right than to see the team succeed.

Looks like Levy knew what he was doing by selecting a HC like Jauron. This team is set to be special for a long time. They are starting to hit their stride which looks good for this year and even better for years to come.

Love that DJ was a little frusterated. Hes not emotional in a rah rah way. I didnt like that when he first got here. Now I realize that his strongest leadership quality is his even keel. He's solid. Win or lose, hes emotionally solid and thats his defining leadership characteristic. Hes focused on the next play, the next game, and winning. He's always thinking about how to improve.

He still was not emotional in his comments. He was composed, and made some good statements. I have to admit it took me a while to warm up to his style. But now I see his influence paying off from top to bottom. There is a lot of buy in on our team right now.

Moral of the story: Trust in Marv. He picked DJ, and he picked these young guys that our team is built around. Everyone is buying in and the team is playing for each other. This isnt some Dallas BS.

    Marv Levy for president!

  18. It will be an uphill battle, unless the Bills are a 1 or 2 seed in the AFC playoffs. Let's not forget that this is a popularity contest, and here are 5 guys that would not suprise me if they beat him out.

    1. Manning is a shoe-in, even if he continues with his off year, he is still Manning.

    2. Favre will get in because of the name and the NYC fan base vote, not because he deserves it.

    3. If Rivers keeps on this pace, (despite the effort on Sunday) he will be in.

    4. Big Ben - Big name having a good year.

    5. Jay Cutler - Gaudy stats - will probably throw for 4500 yds this season and over 30 TDs

Your reasons behind your rankings are legit. There is not much objectivity in the media and there is reasonable thinking behind your rankings. The media is not objective.

    My 'Objective' rankings:

    1. Trent Edwards - 5-1 record. The most important stat is the win column. Edwards technicaly has not lost a game. He got knocked out on the 3rd play in AZ. Hes lead our team to victory in every game hes played so far. Big Picture - From top to bottom our team is believing. And they all say they believe they can beat anybody with trent taking the snaps.

    2. Jay Cutler - He has made some sick throws. Hes got talent Impressive stats. Cant really blame the losses on him. With the points hes putting up he should have a much better record.

3, 4, 5....is a wash for me at this point.

IMO, wins are the most important stat. Tenessee is winning because of a run game. Trent Edwards is a winning games at his position. The team loves him, and they continue to make that known through the media. He could be the leader weve been waiting for since the departure of Machine Gun.

Im pretty excited about this season and Im really excited we finally have a franchise QB. I love our team right now. I love the team chemistry in Buffalo. We the fans have been believing for years. I think our team finally believes in themselves as much as we do. I love whats going on in Buffalo.
