  1. "Terrible waste of the pick" is pretty harsh considering Spiller will help you on ST, as a receiving threat and as a running back. BTW Antowain Smith was drafted in 1997 and actually played in 2 playoff games for the Bills. I agree that they could have chosen a LT but I don't think it's the end of the world they didn't. As for the QB's, I'm not sure any of those QB's available at the time, ie Claussen, McCoy are the sure things that some people make them out to be. You just never know. It really is a crap shoot. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and that opinion should be agreed with or disagreed with in a respectful fashion. I think it's really premature to call Spiller a waste of a draft pick before he ever touches the ball in a actual game. Also, I don't see Henry as a wasted pick. They got a few good years out of him before he self destructed. Marshawn Lynch warranted # 1 status and the Bills needed a running back.. So it wasn't a bad pick at the time.
  2. The guy went to Stanford.... the lack of brains comment is ridiculous. In fact really stupid on your part. Have an opinion on him as a player and his physical ability but don't call him stupid. Oklahoma comes up a little short in regards to comparing it to Stanford as an academic institution. Seriously, think before you write. Don't they teach that in Norman, OK. ?
  3. yeah.... and that productive 2nd round RB was a solid citizen who makes Lynch look like a choir boy.
  4. agreed
  5. Actually he was a hold over from Herm Edwards... Didn't run the offense the Haley wanted, Haley asked him to stay on in lesser role. He said, "better if I go"
  6. All these negative people are ridiculous. He's an accomplished offensive mind with a positive head coaching stint in the NFL. He's no non-sense and has worked with young and old QB's. Why not? Because he's old and not Cowher. Well Cowher's 52 and recommended him for the Steeler's job over Whisenhunt and Grimm. OR because he's not a young unproven coordinator? Go ahead give up your season tix... stop watching and all that other crap but don't come back when it gets turned around. Nix did exactly what he said he would do, hire an experienced HC w/offensive experience. Just b/c a majority of you don't like the hire doesn't mean it's bad or that he's a bad coach. He's a class act that wants to come to Buffalo. Give the guy a chance and show some respect. ee
  7. Kind of disgusted w/all these people who jump on the band wagon and bash this guy. He's a pretty articulate offensive mind. Was relieved of his OC duties b/c Hailey wanted him to run his offense not his own. He was actually a hold over from Herm Edwards regime w/ the Chiefs. Oh by the way when Cowher retired from the Steelers he recommended one guy to replace him and it was.......... Chan Gailey. I know most of you negative posters know way more about football then Chan Gailey but lighten up. some of the same people who are bashing Gailey would welcome Mike Martz as coach.
  8. for 5 yrs. under Donahoe, Ralph was completely hands off and then he realized Donahoe was running a reign of terror at OBD that included alienating the fans and not letting them express their views at games. Ralph fired him for that and some other reasons. He's obviously a little scared about that happening again. Ralph was pissed how Donahoe treated the fans and he stepped up to the plate.
  9. The poster that chewed my a$$ and said I was a RJ homer and made him sick stated that Flutie turned around the season. I pointed out that the turnaround actually started w/Johnson under center. My thought was would it have given him more confidence, would the split locker room decided to follow him? My thought was that would have been his defining moment...he never came close to anything else. I think Flutie should have played the game. Everybody complained about his lack of production but he just found ways to win.
  10. Dude...who is this guy? and he doesn't even cite sources.
  11. Ok... OBD has been super tight lipped and now they are going to start calling Frazier the front runner when they haven't interviewed anybody else besides Cowher and Frazier. I guarantee you nobody said that Leslie Frazier is the front runner. Nix had previously said that frazier did a great job when he was interviewed by that Rooney rule guy.
  12. Don't recall saying I was a RJ homer or that I agreed w/the decision you jack a$$. Where exactly did I say that? I commented on the fact he made a great throw to PP, was poised through out the game etc... Read the post. I said that could have been his defining moment. Never mentioned the rest of his career etc. BTW... the turn around in the 98 season started in game 4 w/ Johnson at QB vs. the 49's. If I'm not mistaken Flutie only becomes QB after Johnson falls on the ball and hurts his ribs in Indy, another game they were winning with Johnson. Again, I'm not saying I was a fan of Johnson, I'm just pointing out things that actually happened back then at the time. Myself, I preferred Flutie back then. They would win ugly and he would do the little things. BTW Flutie didn't get run out of town until the new regime took over after 2000 season. Back then, I too thought they should have kept Flutie over Johnson but that wasn't what my post was about.
  13. Bad judgement at best... definitely a weird story...I wonder what other player was with him
  14. The throw, 15 yds. to Peerless, on the move, one shoe off, across the body, across the field was incredible. I believe it was on the final drive. Johnson showed a lot of poise that day. Tennessee came after him like mad dogs. If you remember Bills were down 12-0 into the 3rd. I think that game changed RJ's career, it really could have been his defining moment had they won.
  15. It was pretty common knowledge that management , including Ralph, was pushing for Johnson at some time. Remember he was the starting QB the previous season and that was Wade's choice. That game should be the "curse of not putting an emphasis on special teams" Wade was never a big ST guy.
  16. I totally agree with the Cowher part of this but I wouldn't put so much stock in the timing of the Frazier interview meaning that he's their guy if Cowher doesn't work out. They got his interview done because he could very well be on a superbowl or NFC championship game run with the Vikes. it makes sense to interview a viable candidate early if he won't be available later.
  17. Yep...even said that in the beginning of his chat. Was all pissed off that he didn't get his chocolate football from ralph for christmas. I don't think too many people at OBD are talking to Sully
  18. Has Bill Cowher told anyone that he didn't want to come Buffalo? I see posters saying that but I have not heard him say that. In fact, Marty Schottenheimer had a more positive spin on Cowher to Buffalo. Just b/c we don't hear anything doesn't mean that Cowher isn't coming.
  19. Logical reason... Thanks for the info
