Its time to resign Byrd, Levitre and Urbik
auburnbillsbacker replied to freester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You usually get a discount signing a guy entering the final year of the deal. The player will often take a little less money because an injury or down season could be disaterous when they negoiate after the season ends. The Eagles have always done a great job of getting guys resigned early. -
Would You Trade Any 3 Bills Players for Andrew Luck?
auburnbillsbacker replied to Boludo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would do the deal. I think the more interesting question however, is who would the colts take. I don't think they would take Mario Williams due to the contract. I think they would pick young talented players with reasonable contracts. The would definitely take Dareus. The should take Kyle Williams but might be scared of his health. They would not take anyone whose contract will expire soon. I'm struggling with the other two players they would take. Would they take Spiller and Gilmore? -
Thanks for the summary.

I always thought he was one of the few members of the media that actually gave the bills more respect than they probably deserved. -
Bills Training Camp Ranked #3
auburnbillsbacker replied to auburnbillsbacker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have only gone to camp at St. John fisher, but have wondered the same thing. -
I have always enjoyed going to bills training camp, but since I have never been to another team's camp I wasn't sure how it would rate. Peter King rates it as the 3rd best in the NFL. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/peter_king/07/29/mmqb/2.html

Luke Kuechly looking good.
auburnbillsbacker replied to DukeyBomb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The bills didn't have the option of drafting Kuechly. Based on what I have read I think the bills may have liked Kuechly and Baron more than Gilmore, but both were gone. -
Why are Pats the measuring stick for ALL teams?

Here is the Patriots model. Get lucky and draft a hall of fame QB in the 6th round. End of plan. -
RD 1, Pick #10: DB Stephon Gilmore - South Carolina
auburnbillsbacker replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With the 2012 NFL Draft nearly here, Mike Mayock has unveiled his top 100 prospect rankings. 1. Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford 2. Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor 3. Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama 4. Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU 5. Matt Kalil, OT, Southern California 6. Luke Kuechly, ILB, Boston College 7. Mark Barron, SS, Alabama 8. Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina 9. Chandler Jones, DE, Syracuse 10. Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State With Greg Cosell calling Gilmore the best cb in the draft and Mike Mayock listing him as the 8th best overall prospect, I don't know why some are upset about this pick. I could understand why people were hoping for Baron or Kuechly, but they were gone. -
Here is Greg Cossel's opinion. The guy watches more film than anyone on the net. Barron is easily the best safety in this draft class. His tape showed a complete and multi-dimensional skill set, perhaps the most impressive attribute being his man-to-man coverage ability versus tight ends. He also played man-to-man against the inside slot receiver in 3×1 sets. The larger point is that Barron can play man coverage, and that has become increasingly important for safeties in today's NFL. Overall Barron offers tremendous scheme and position versatility. Safety has still not reached premium status in terms of NFL draft value, but I would argue that Barron is one of the 5 to 7 best players in this draft

I think this topic is being discussed in another thread, but in my opinion the bills need a stud. So that probably means drafting Kuechly, Baron, or DeCastro. I know they do not play positions that are typically drafted in the top 10, but they are great players.

I thought I would throw this out there again. I just updated my board now that we are within a week of the draft. -
Bills Draft with a trade

I would rather have DeCastro than a 3rd and Glenn -
TOTB: FJax for Kalil - Cleve, Minn and Buff
auburnbillsbacker replied to RichardBag's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think the bills would get a 4th round pick let alone the 4th overall pick for Jackson. -
I know Buddy does not like to trade, but he would sacrifice a 3rd to Kalil.
-
It was done by Pat Kirwan and Tim Ryan. They do a mock every Friday, and take turns picking players. Today they had the Vikings trading down and the bills trading up and ending up with Kalil. While this scenario will not play happen, I think Pat and Tim were trying to show that you never know for sure what will happen on draft day. It did make me think however. I am trying to decide how much I would be willing to give up to get Kalil.

My line is demarcation is similar. Based on my board I would not want to trade past pick number 17. I think if Richardson or Tannenhill were available at 10 the bills would have a decent shot of trading down, but I'm not sure that will happen. If pass rusher is no longer a need, I don't think the bills can trade down. I don't know if you can ever have too many pass rushers though. -

Now that I have taken some time to read up and watch Reiff, it appears he could fall a ways in the first round. At least if Bell was back, the bills would have to ok players at the LT position. Many of the mocks have had DeCastro going a lot higher. Don Banks just had him at 12 in his most recent mock draft. -

That is true to a point, but the mocks on this thread are not simply a carbon copy of what you find on the internet. There has been thought put into people's rankings. No one here is a professional scout who is skilled in the art of evaluating foot work for an offensive lineman or how precise a WR runs his routs. There is nothing wrong however, with reading evaluations from several professionals and listening to former GMS like Casserly and Polian on the radio. You can then make a more informed decision on who the bills should draft. That is what makes the draft fun. -

It seems like a lot of us have a similar top 10. I agree with your opinion that the there is no chance that any of the top 5 guys fall to us, so it looks like Floyd is your guy. He is a guy that some believe will be outstanding. I have him a few spots lower because of the depth of the WR position, but I wouldn't mind if he was the pick. -

If Bell is back, the bills would have so many options in this years draft. They could truly pick the best player available with each pick. I guess WR would be be the bills #1 need, but there is depth at that position this year. -

Former Buffalo Bills lineman and current Sirius NFL radio host Ross Tucker has stated several times that RG is the 2nd most important position on the line. He said that RGs are frequently left alone to block a guy one on one, while other lineman often receive help. If DeCastro can win one on one battles while also being able to pull and get to the second level, he could be a great pick. I initially had DeCastro higher, but dropped him a bit after Bell hit free agency. -
