Young QBs leading teams to the Playoffs
auburnbillsbacker replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is hard to imagine, but the bills couldn't draft any of those guys because the bills were better than the Steelers, Giants, and Chargers the year before. -
Trade for Kirk Cousins
auburnbillsbacker replied to LiterateStylish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whether or not he would be avialable is up to debate. I don't know why the Redskins would trade away their backup QB when their starting QB is likely to get hurt based on the way he plays the game. -
Chan is a great coach...if he gets a great QB

The reality is that almost all coaches appear great when they have a great QB. -
Pro Football Focus on Stevie's route running

That is what I always wondered. I think it is possible that he puts up big numbers but hurts the offense at times. -
Urbik agrees to contract extension

The bills should put all of their efforts into resigning Levitre, since the franchise tag for offesnive linemen is costly. Safeties can be tagged for cheap. -
Bills could draft #3 overall
auburnbillsbacker replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The falcons got Matt Ryan with the 3rd overall pick, and like many of this year QB prospects, he was not considered to be a top prospect at this stage of the evaluating process. -
I don't think he is going to leave, but if he did come, I don't think he would draft a QB. When he first got the job at New Orleans he called Parcells about what he should do about the QB position. They had the 2nd overall pick in the draft, with Young, Culter, and Leinart all appearing to be good QB prospects. Parcells told him that he shouldn't trust a rookie, so Payton decided to persue Brees. So, I'm not sure he would want to risk failure by drafting a rookie. On the other hand, there will not be Drew Brees in free agency, so maybe he would draft a QB. I can't see Payton going to Dallas, because of Jone's insistance and being in charge of personel decisions.

With the defense rising, does Wanny get another shot?
auburnbillsbacker replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You might think my statement was funny, but here is the bills future. -Bills fans blame the coaching staff for the teams failure -Chan and his staff get fired -Bills fans rejoice because they feel the new coach is going to fix everything -The Bills continue to stnk -Bills fans blame the coaching staff for the teams failures -The coach and his staff get fired -Bills fans rejoice because they feel the new coach is going to fix everything on and on. Great QBs make coaches seem great. Belichick had a losing record as a head coach before Brady. -

I'm starting to think that coaching has never been the problem with the bills. Everyone hated Wade, but he had a talented roster and led the bills to the playoffs twice. Since Wade every single coaching staff has failed to lead the bills to the playoffs. I think QB and at times General Manager have been the real problems. The only way to win without a good QB is to build a really strong roster. Buddy has improved the talent level each year he has been on the job, but not enough to overcome mediocrity at QB. Now don't get me wrong, I love Fitz. He is my favorite player, but he is not elite. To answer the question of the thread, if Chan comes back I would not mind the rest of the staff coming back with him. -
The "Fire Chan Gailey Now!" petition.
auburnbillsbacker replied to RogerNapalm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They tried that last time but none of the top dogs would come here. I always thought Jauron and his staff did great considering the talent the bills had during his tenure. When you consider the injuries the bills had, what he accomplished is even more impressive. Of course bills fans blamed him for drafting too many DBs. So here is a story for you. In Marv's first year as GM Jauron asked him to draft Kyle Williams in the 4th round. Marv said no, as he liked Ko Simpson too much. In the 5th round Kyle Williams was still there, so Marv agreed to take him. Jauron always drafting DBs was BS just like when we killed Wade Phillips for not wearing a head set. -
Joe Flacco - interested?

"Building the Franchise the right way"
auburnbillsbacker replied to KeisterHollow's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So what did all 3 GMs lack? A QB. It is not rocket science, when the colts have Manning or Luck the team is good and the GM and coaching staff look good. When they didn't have a stud at QB, the GM and coach got fired. Nix and Gailey would seem great with Rodgers, Brady, or Brees leading the team. -

I agree. Imgaine if the Mariners could pitch Felix Hernandez 162 games a season. They would go from a bad team to a playoff team instantly. Having Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers as your QB is like that. Look at the last several years. Brady has played in 5 superbowls, Big Ben 3, and Manning 2. Those 3 guys are the AFCs QB every year in the superbowl. If the bills had an elite QB, they would be in a playoff postion right now. As for Nix, I think he has done a decent job of accumulating talent. Key free agents are getting resigned, so every year the talent level improves. Has he missed on some picks? Yes, but so does every GM. If he was in a positon to draft RGIII or Luck last year, he would look like a genius right now. The bills need to continue to accumulate talent, but if there is a chance to make a move for a franchise QB, they need to jump on it. -
How the F did Reggie Wayne get so open
auburnbillsbacker replied to jonramz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are conflicting theories about how a team should cover their opponents best receiver. Some match up their best corner against the other team's best WR. Other teams put their best CB on the other teams 2nd best receiver, and double their best. It seemed like Wayne was single covered during the game, so when the pass rush didn't get to Luck, Wayne was able to get open. -
I think the moral of the story is that trading 3 first round picks is a cheap price to pay for a franchise QB. I realize that no QB prospect is a lock to succeed, but Luck and RG III were as safe as it gets. If the bills are ever in position where they can trade 3 firsts for an elite QB prospect, I hope they do it.

Still have to go Defense heavy in 13' Draft
auburnbillsbacker replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You always draft a franchise QB if one if available, but considering that will probably not be the case, I agree that we should draft many defensive players. Especially linebackers. -

Offer Huge Money To Defensive Guru...
auburnbillsbacker replied to The Voice of Truth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't undestand why top coaches do not make more money. Football is the ultimate team sport, and great coaches make a huge difference. You stil need talent, but why not create a competitive advantage by paying for the best at the coordinator positons. -
Gailey is 13-26 as Head Coach
auburnbillsbacker replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This makes me feel like coaching has not been the biggest problem. The bills need to get better at bringing in talent. I think Chan is one heck of a good coach. His biggest mistake is the coaching staff he has assembled. Don't get me wrong, it is an important part of the job, but the guys can coach the offense.
