Time management, end of 2Q yesterday...discuss...
auburnbillsbacker replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the bills wanted to make sure they got a first down before going into true hurry up mode. That accounts for the slow start. I also feel like they deserved more time. On each of their 2 timeouts 3 seconds ran off the clock before time stopped. It seemed like a hometown clock operator to me, but maybe this is often the case. Those extra seconds would have allowed them to throw into the end zone once. -
Zach Brown: Bills best player 2016
auburnbillsbacker replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brown ran a 10.6 100 in high school and was timed at 4.27 in the 40 in college. I'm sure the 40 time was a little off but that is a lot of speed for a guy who is 6'2 and weighs 240 pounds. -
Injuries/Suspensions Blessings in disguise?
auburnbillsbacker replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills are much better with a healthy Sammy Watkins. On defense however, injuries may have helped the team in the long run. Zach Brown is an athletic freak who is finally learning how to play the game. In high school he was a star wrestler and ran a 10.6 100 meter dash. He is really fast for a guy who is 6'2 and weighs over 240 pounds. I wish we would have given him a contract longer than 1 year. Props to our pro scouts. -
His first draft was his best. Nate Clements, Aaron Schobel, Travis Henry were all really good picks. They also get decent production out of Jonas Jennings until he signed with San Francisco. His 2003 draft wasn't bad as well, as McGahee, Kelsay, and Terrence McGee were good players. The other 3 drafts were what got him fired.

Titans Trade #1 Overall Pick to the Rams
auburnbillsbacker replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the QB the Rams select can play it is a great trade for them. A franchise QB is worth more than they gave up. -
Is the Flutie Curse over with?
auburnbillsbacker replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought Rob Johnson played a good game. Actually, he had a pretty good start to his career. He had a high QB rating and the Bills scored a lot of points during his starts. Things started to fall apart the following season. -
TRADE DOWN.......the smart thing to do.
auburnbillsbacker replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A lot of the "experts" claim that the 11th-50th players in this draft will all have a similar grade. If that is the case it seems like simply selecting a player at 50 would be the best plan. -
According to Peter King's Monday Morning QB one GM said that the 50th pick will be no different than the 20th pick. There are 10 elite guys, 10 good guys, then the next 30 are more or less the same.

Jerry Hughes signs 5-year deal with Bills
auburnbillsbacker replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I realize that the franchise tag for a DE was 14 million, but I wish the bills used it. It would have given them more time to work out a long term contract. I suppose Hughes could have simply played for the tag salary, but I'm guessing he would have wanted the extra guaranteed money a long-term contract would have given him. -
Say McCoy refuses to be a Bill. Would you...
auburnbillsbacker replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Trades cannot be made until March 10th. If he refused to come couldn't we simply not make the trade. -
Who "Won" this trade?
auburnbillsbacker replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Eagles won. McCoy is a very good RB but will count 12 million dollars against the salary cap. That is way too much. If the bills wanted a RB that bad they could have offered DeMarco Murray 12 million a year. He is not going to get that on the open market. Murray plus Kiko is better than just McCoy. The trade was bad even if Murray is not an option. -
Rex Ryan wants best defense EVER!!!

The Pats would trade him to anyone in the AFC East. They don't fear the bills, jets, or dolphins. -
Wade Phillips hired as DC in Denver
auburnbillsbacker replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why do you think he is a "not so great head coach?" You can't be basing that off of his win loss record or his ability to lead teams to the playoffs. I'm not trying to be confrontational, I'm just curious. I personally think he was a really good head coach in Denver, Buffalo, and Dallas. -
Wade Phillips hired as DC in Denver
auburnbillsbacker replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wade was always a good head coach. In two years as head coach of the broncos he made the playoffs once and went 8-8. His team made the playoffs 2 of the seasons he was in Buffalo. His team in Dallas made the playoffs every season with the exception of one. He even got better results than Bill Parcells with the same roster. -
I hate Marshawn Lynch

Did the Buffalo community come up with the term "Beast Mode"? -
Who are the 4 starting LBs?
auburnbillsbacker replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills will have 3 LBs on the field more often than they have 4. -
ANYONE ELSE HAVE SYMPATHY FOR HACKETT?
auburnbillsbacker replied to BillAndPhilFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I feel bad for all of the Saint Doug's assistants who are out of jobs. I think Hackett is better off now than he was two years ago though. He got interviews with 2 other clubs for their OC positions. He might have to take a step back for now, but I think he will get another shot. -
I respectfully disagree with most of this post. Rex Ryan uses a 4 man front a lot. Over the last two days he has expressed his love of Kyle Williams on multiple occasions. I expect our defense will look very similar to last year's defense more times than not. Ryan will probably use more of a variety of defensive formations, but when it comes down to it you will see our two Pro Bowl DTs lined up in a 43. I do agree that Revis will be too costly to consider but I think there is a strong possibility that Hughes is back. He has the versatility to excel in Ryan's system. He can line up as a DE in the 43 or stand up as a linebacker in a 34 front. I have no concerns about our defense. We had great defensive coaching and personnel last year and we will this year as well. It is the QB that has me concerned.

Package Deal? (Mike & Kyle Shanahan)
auburnbillsbacker replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interviewing many candidates is a great idea. It essentially allows you to steal "best practices" used by the most successful organizations in the league. As new owners, there is a lot the Pegulas can learn from the process. -
When Tomlin became the head coach of the Steelers he retained Dick Lebeau as defensive coordinator. Tomlin was a great leader and a former defensive coordinator but he realized the Lebeau was a great defensive coach. Marrone should lead the Bills but should hire a more qualified offensive coordinator in my opinion.

On NFL radio yesterday it was mentioned that almost all of his salary over the next two years is guaranteed. I almost feel like the Bears might need to trade away a pick with Cutler for a team to take him. I think a 7th round pick would get it done for sure. The question is, should be take on his salary.
