The most important thing that could happen at the meetings is the Bills working out a trade to get their QB. Draft day trades often were first discussed during the owners's meeting.
If the Bills like him they should take him at 12. The Bills lost Drew Brees because they wanted to draft Nate Clements first then trade back up for Brees.
I really needed that playoff game but a losing season would have greatly increased the odds of getting a franchise QB. It is sad that simply sucking does more than accumulating a boatload of picks.
What really makes me sick is is that the Steelers got Big Ben and the Giants got Eli the only year they were worse than the Bills. The Bills are bad at being bad. Zero 1st or 2nd overall picks between 1986 and now. 1 3rd overall pick. 1 4th overall pick and zero 5th or 6th overall picks during that same span.
It is very possible that this is exactly what we need to do. All of the Giants beat reporters don't think they will trade with the Bills because the players they want won't be there at 12. Many believe Chubbs is the best player in the draft so getting him and extra picks might be the Giants dream scenario. I also think they might go QB at 2.
I think we do have the worst QB situation inthe NFL as of right now but as long as we draft our franchise QB in April who cares. If we don't I'm worried.
There are RBs that will be drafted in rounds 2 and 3 that could be as productive at Barkley. In my opinion there is zero chance that they don't draft a QB.
I think the complaint by most is not giving away picks to trade up but the improbability that we will be able to trade up and get the QB the bills want. The jets-colts trade hurt.
That is a good question. I think they are often contingent in nature. For example, if Rosen is still available we would trade x, y, and z for the pick. I'm sure the offer wouldn't stand if a team got a better deal.
The old Browns GM would have traded the pick but they will stay at 1 and select a QB. I'm glad the Bills have explored the possibility of trading for the pick though.
Sucking is more likely to land you a franchise QB than accumulating draft picks unfortunately. There may have been 2 franchise QBs available at 10 last year but we passed. I hope we don't reach for a QB. If a good one there great.
There is no question in my mind that they will pass on Barkley. They have ignored the position for too long and they will want to get the best prospect, not just one of the prospects.
I trust the Bills when it comes to defensive players they draft or sign. After the Peterman start I no longer have complete faith in their ability to evaluate the QB position.
It seems like the Bills might be playing the Comp draft pick game that many on this board have wanted for years. Since Suh was released, his signing would not count against us. Same with the every other free agent we have signed this off season.
Why would we chose to draft an undersized qb like Mayfield when he lacks the arm length of Brees or the ability to move like Wilson? There are not many QBs with his tangibles that have succeeded. I love his fire but his lack of physical strength botheres me as well. This typically shows a lack of dedication.
To be fair, I have concerns about the other QBs as well. Mayfield scares me the most though.
