Knowing what we know now the pick should have been Watson. All of the QBs were viewed as projects last year though. Also in hindsight, I wish we traded down with Houston instead of Kansas City.
I think it is possible that Allen would not be there at 4. I also think that Barkley should not be a top 4 pick based on his position and the quality of other non QB that would be available.
Bill Polian said on NFL radio that after he worked out both Manning and Leaf he discovered that Manning actually had the stronger arm of the two. This completely went against the narrative of the 2 QBs at that time.
If you look at the Eli's stats with and without OBJ on the field you begin to appreciate his value. He would help our rookie QB. I really dislike the guy though.
After scrutinizing these QBs for months I have decided to trust that whatever QB that the Bills draft can play. They all seem to flawed prospects in my opinion though.
A lot of things factor into a QBs completion percentage. Do they throw a lot of passes behind the line of scrimmage? How often do they throw the ball down the field? The talent of their WRs. Many people on here simply look at the 56% completion percentage and think they have done enough research to judge Allen. Dig a little deeper and you still might not like him but at least then you can make an informed opinion.
The Giants and Bills have something in common. Both teams need a QB. If a trade were to happen which team would be considered smart? The team that either received or kept 3 first round picks or the team that got the QB?
You would think with the Bills having 2 1st round picks, 2 2nd round picks, and 3 3rd round picks this draft would create optimism, but if we miss our QB there will be a lot of disappointment in Western NY.
I love the kids competitive spirit and his fire but I wouldn't draft him in round 3. I have shared my opinion on him in 5,000 other threads so I'm not going to do so again. I'm pulling for him to succeed but I'm not optimistic.
I hope the Bills are all in on signing the raider's ex punter King. That guy adds dancing and entertainment to punts and I have the feeling there will be a lot of punts next season.
I think the problem they will run into is that Chubbs and Barkley are really good and teams that don't draft a QB might want to stay put and draft them.
This mock draft by Peter Schrager of nfl.com is my nightmare scenario.

I think the Bills were very fortunate to make the playoffs last year and it will take time to replace the talent they traded away. I think the franchise is headed in the right direction but I don't expect them to be playoff bound in 2018.
