Finally a sane post. You are exactly correct. Tennessee hits as hard as any team in the league. They don't care if its practice, pre season, or mid season, that's what they do. They also have those type of players. Did you see their second round draft pick (Marks)? I was so disappointed with Ellis. With it looking like he won't contribute, the only change (obviously) that can come is from Maybin. We desperately need him to create some semblance of a pass rush. For me the positive's were: the no huddle on our first drive (minus the pick), Poz, Harris, Wood, Hamden, Omon.

I thought he was one of only a few bright spots the entire night. The run play where he came through the middle, and then chased the play down to the left was very telling on how athletic he is. I think it was 2 plays prior he made a tackle, and kept driving the guy into the ground. He also appears to have a mean streak. A+++++ for Harris.

You can't possibly know enough about Byrd to love the pick yet. But I know we need defensive line players, and we should have gone in that direction. We should have drafted Everette Brown. Did you see who the Titans drafted in the second round? McCargo got schooled tonight by second stringers. He looked horrific.

Not near as much as the McCargo pick, and then Byrd for me. These will come back to haunt us.

The wildcat is for teams that have a non playmaking QB, and have almost no talent at WR. Doesn't that sound like the Dolphins? When you have T.O., Evans, Reed, Johnson, spent a 2nd on Hardy, and drafted a pass catching TE you shouldn't run the wildcat. Why would you want anyone to think these guys aren't going out for a pass by replacing your QB with a running back or wide out? Doesn't make sense. Teams are going to have a tough time covering our WR's and dealing with our running game. There are only a couple of teams in the league I would trade offenses with.

I think there is reason for optimism, but that's the case every off season. But the reality is the guys you mention that will be "new" players, all have issues when you plug these players into your mind and attempt to vision the defense getting better. Fist Schobel at his very best is not an impact player. We all agree he is not a speed rusher, and ever since he lost 20lbs in the "faster" defense attempt by Jauron, he's been a shell of himself. Second to count on Ellis and McCargo is like hoping the economy will turn around. Thirdly Maybin is a rookie. If he gets 6 sacks he will be among the top tier in sack totals as a rookie the last 10 years. That's not exactly going to turn our pass rush around. I think if he contributes to the pass rush, and can swing to the LB position in some 3-4 sets and holds his own, we should all be happy with that. These guys are all unproven commodities, so I just don't think it puts us in the top 10.
