Haynesworth Demands Trade
Buffalonian-at-Heart replied to FLFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Another of a long list of screw ups by the Redskins. I hope the Shanahan and Mcnabb signings blow up in their face also. I guess I can't blame either one for not wanting to sign with Buffalo, but I'll derive some happiness watching them fail. -
Within the frame of being optimistic in my mind are two things. My biggest fear is that this team plays well enough to get in the 7-9 range, but we still experience poor to average QB play and our QB of the future is still undefined. I'm not saying that I'd advocate loosing for the sake of having a better opportunity in the draft, but it is a factor to think about. I believe this team is in a great position with its coaches, I also believe they have gotten definitively better player wise all around the QB position. The question is, have we gotten good enough to win games, but still be in need of a QB? And will this translate into winning more games effecting our ability to address the QB situation in the draft? Secondly, the obvious converse situation would be that we go 7-9 but finally see a QB for the future manifest. Then can we see our beloved Bills build upon that and become a viable contender. My optimism comes from my confidence that the new FO and Coaching Staff posses the ability to answer these questions. It seems that the last decade has been mired by an inability to know how to fix the QB situation. From a fans perspective we have always been left with not knowing if it was scheme, coaching, FO, or the player himself, so hope has always been stricken from us. In summary, I'm obviously not sure how this season will play out. But I am getting more certain that the questions will get answered on how to continue building by a competent FO and Coaching Staff. In my mind that leaves me with a great sense of optimism and excitement about the season, regardless of wins and losses.

Where did you get it?

What evidence do you have that the bills are "setting a tone that your organization isn't run by spineless jellyfish that will bend anywhich way any disgruntled player pushes when he gets his panties in a bunch."? Where are you getting this stuff? I think your emotions are getting the best of you, which also isn't a very good trait to have when running an NFL team.

Walking all over management? Management is moving on without him, they drafted Spiller and brought in other RB's to compete. He's hurting himself, he's hardly doing anything to management. So you advocate employers punishing employees? If it gets to a certain point don't you just think employees should just get fired? Or should a company just keep that employee and punish him because they know he can't quit?

No, I'm suggesting that "teaching players lessons" doesn't make good business sense.

Darth I usually agree with most of your posts, but I'm not getting the hating on Edwards. We have seen him do it, he looked great and was putting up Pro Bowl numbers at the start of 2008. Guy got a concussion and hasn't been the same. The coaching got disturbing, ie Van Pelt brought in to call plays a week before the season. I think somewhere in Edwards is an NFL QB, and I think Gailey may be able to get it out.

I couldn't have a more opposite opinion. I think we may struggle offensively, but defensively this team has a real chance of being good to very good. Switching to the 3-4 makes us considerably better. We now have the personal to match our scheme. Not saying they will put it all together this year, but if some things come together we will be good. If the front seven can stop the run our excellent secondary will be that much better than last year. I would argue that the pieces are there defensively and offensively is where the question marks are. -

Yes and hopefully Lynch's agent will represent future players we want to sign, that should help us. Currently Doug Hendrickson of Octagon Sports represents 30 NFL players.

I kind of alluded to this in my earlier post. My guess is people like his agent/adviser are telling him he needs to shape up and start doing the right things, even if its for selfish reasons. I think he's not listening and being stubborn. The reason I think he's doing this is he's grossly immature and not an evil guy. Based on his actions he appears to be a person that makes decisions in the moment and doesn't think about the future/consequences. Anyone can tell he's hurting himself, not only on this team but for future opportunities. So why is he willing to do this? Is it because he's a rich thug or because he's for a lack of a better term "dumb"? I think its the latter. I also want to address another thing. The notion he isn't a good RB is ludicrous. This man is one hell of a runner. Pound for pound he runs harder than anyone in the league. If we didn't have Jackson this man would be a 1,500 yard back.

No, the evidence is that we aren't in the 29-32 range. Look at where we've been drafting the last several years. We haven't been one of the worst teams in a long time. But yet we get grouped into that rating, that's not intelligent at all. -
I honestly don't think he's that bad of a guy. He seems like someone that just doesn't know how to make good decisions. His agent must be telling him he isn't doing himself any favors. I think the guy struggles with choosing right from wrong. We've seen him be a fun loving energetic guy, so why all this bad behavior? None of us can pretend to know his upbringing, but it appears life skills aren't something he learned growing up. I think the guy is tormented by what kind of man to be. I actually have pity for a guy willing to ruin his reputation. I know, I know there will be guys that blast me because he's a millionaire we shouldn't pity him, but the guy has issues that most of us can't relate to. It's easy to just say that the guy is just a talented athlete that isn't taking advantages of all the "breaks" he's been given, but to make it to the NFL you have to be a hard working dedicated individual, even if its just in football. As evidenced, he plays very hard on the field. Remember how we all embraced "Beast Mode"? I think the guy needs to learn some humility, get into camp, and earn the respect back of his team mates and coaches. I hope he turns his life around and becomes a success. I hope his fate isn't similar to Henry's, but it sure looks like he's taking that road.

Bills player= Kenny Powers?
Buffalonian-at-Heart replied to atl-fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No one. -
Mike Shanahan didn't want him. The following teams needed or potentially needed a QB or addressed their QB situation during the 2010 off season: Bills, Browns, Jags, Broncos, Raiders, Minnesota, Panthers, Cardinals, Rams, Seahawks, and 49ers. Every team passed on Campbell except the Raiders, the Raiders, who gave a 4th round pick not in 2011 but 2012. The Bills are batting a thousand on addressing their QB situation. The guys in the draft they could have drafted they didn't like, they went after the best QB available during the off season in Mcnabb, so instead of mortgaging the future on second best options, they decided to wait and address other areas. Which they did and did very well.

The problem with doing this is its a two edged sword. You screw with the player, but also the agent. Then next year when you want to sign that free agent, uh oh, its the same agent you just got done screwing his client. I'm sure his agent is pissed at him too, because he's hurting everyone's pockets. But the only way a Bills threat and punishment would work is if the agent is on board, which they will always side with the client. Could you imagine if it got out that the agent helped or backed the team when they punished the client? No more clients.

Can you say Travis Henry.

Josh Reed signs with the Chargers
Buffalonian-at-Heart replied to BillsGuyInMalta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Another long list of guys that started for the Bills with low end talent. I am looking forward to Nix putting together a team that no longer consist of guys like Josh Reed. In my opinion Nix has done a great job of starting the trend upwards. -
Schobel says he's not coming back
Buffalonian-at-Heart replied to yall's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've always liked Schobel but never loved him. He seems like a decent guy, but for football reason's I'm glad he's not coming back. At his best he was an above average player that put up nice numbers when you looked back at them, but was a non impact guy. For him to make the transition to the 3-4 linebacker would be a huge question mark to ask of a guy that athletically wasn't all that gifted. -

"I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I traveled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer." - Ben Franklin -

Where you're wrong is that non wealthy people don't vote Republican because they believe they are the party most likely to allow them to get "rich", and that we are misinformed about a "fair society". I'm a republican, my wife and I earn decent wages, and have a blessed life. I don't vote republican to get rich, i vote republican for many other reasons. But in regards to the rich, I believe in sticking up for them when the wrong thing is done, just as I would anyone else. You assume we stick up for the rich for personal gain, not true. We believe it to be morally wrong for the government to take from them simply because they have. We also understand that taxing the rich has huge implications on them spending their money or investing it in their businesses, which directly or indirectly effects all of us. I want the Government to stop taxing the man that owns the company I work for. Not because I think I'll ever be rich, but because he will keep investing in his company, which will increase my ability to earn more money. The more tools he gives me to take care of my customers, the greater the possibility is that I can earn more commission. Leave this man alone, you're not hurting him you're hurting me. -

Since they haven't accomplished any of these things for us with our money, now what do you say? Oh yeah, take even more. -
