Ralph isn't cheap!
Buffalonian-at-Heart replied to Buffalonian-at-Heart's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Says the guy who first tried to reply and it was blank, couldn't figure out how to delete it, and then posted this garbage. -
It appears the new LA owner will be Ari Gold.

This post is to dispel the theory and multiple posts that Ralph Wilson is cheap and not committed to winning. The Buffalo Bills ranked 12th in the league last year in player salaries including all bonuses paid. We were ranked 25th in total revenue earned in 2008 by Forbes. For comparison, the Bills spent more on players in 2009 than seven playoff teams: the Baltimore Ravens ($109M), Philadelphia Eagles ($102.5M), Indianapolis Colts ($101M), Minnesota Vikings ($100M), New England Patriots ($98M), Cincinnati Bengals ($95M), and Dallas Cowboys ($91M). The Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints spent $122M, while the New York Giants topped the list at $138M. http://content.usatoday.com/sports/footbal....aspx?year=2009 To say that Ralph isn't committed to winning is not only the wrong opinion it's a complete fallacy. The Bills were said to be worth $909 million which is 26th in the league. Here's a quote from MattRichWarren from Buffalo Rumblings which I think sums it up best. "The better way to truly compare teams is operating income. That's the total income from merchandise, tickets, parking, concessions, and everything else that is unique to an individual team. In 2008, the Bills' operating income was $39.5M, good for a surprising 12. Conversely, the Washington Redskins made $90.3M. So in a truly capitalist system, the Redskins would be able to spend over $50M more on players and coaches than the Bills." Ralph has obviously not made the best choices throughout his tenure, especially over the last decade or so, but he is committed to winning. He has tried to put together a winning product. Just because he has also made money within the framework of allocating resources to the teams success doesn't make him cheap, that's what every business man does. To you conspiracy theorist that believe Ralph does just enough to sell his product, but won't spend enough to win - I disagree. I submit it would take more effort to balance that model, than it would be to win.

Right, because "what couldn't of been will be his legacy" makes perfect sense.
-
Twilight means its past or nearing the end, so how could the twilight be passing?
-
You can't make a team a legacy. It's a noun.

Huh?

They are referring to the team that just signed them. -
Yep I just got this deal. You don't have to be nasty or anything, just tell them you would like them to extend the deal that you heard others are getting, and its no issue. My online account was updated in minutes after the phone call.

Every draft by every team is questionable. The whole point of a new beginning is the opportunity it brings. The fact that you're already feeling like the new regime is just in another long list of failures, is not only stupid, but irresponsible. I'm not sure why guys like you follow the team. You have over 25,000 posts and rank 3rd most, but yet you hate where this team is headed. What is the point? It's like you're your own problem. -

Just because he share's your opinion, doesn't mean it's common sense. Finding solace when another poster bashes everything about the Bills just makes you look pathetic. -

Ok, you have another opinion about the things we've done and where we're headed. That's fine, and quite frankly I can understand your description of how you see the off season moves and they may very well prove to be true. We are getting away from my point though, which is only we can have that opinion, the national media's opinion of us is garbage. They don't analyze our team, which I can completely understand why, but still they don't. So whenever I hear Jaimie Dukes talk about Buffalo, I completely discard what he thinks. -

Oh really? Sure fire bottom 5 team? Based on what? We haven't been a bottom 5 team since 2002. So because your feeble opinion says we are a bottom 5 team, that means you know more about pro football? I'm certainly not an expert, but at the very least my opinion is a toss up with yours. And I certainly believe I can make my case a lot easier than you can. We've arguably gotten better at every thing football related this off season, from the Front Office, coaching staff, scheme, and personal. A team with abysmal coaching and scheme, and decimated with injuries every year went 7-9 3 years in a row and won 6 games last year. Ok, now you go on how we are a "sure fire bottom 5 team". -
We've talked about this before Darth, but I've got to say it again. The only issue with taking on this type of stance, is that its not exactly the best way to resign your current players and attract free agents. The players and front offices play their little posturing games, but in the end they all have to play nice.

I think the Jets are going to implode. They are going about winning the wrong way. They have a 1-2 year window to win the big one or they are going to have issues. They have guys like Harris and Revis to ante up big contracts for and the money just isn't going to be there, with the Ferguson contract, and all the free agent contracts they've taken on. And here's another thing: Notice teams like Pittsburgh, Indy, and New England don't usually sign big ticket free agents and don't often give out big contracts to their players that come up for free agency. For me there's two ways to look at this. The first being that they are well run organizations that have the new found Bills philosophy of stacking players on top of players, so these players are replaced from within. The second is as long as you have your franchise QB, most of the other positions are more interchangeable because you have that constant. The Jets don't have either. I'm telling you if Sanchez doesn't pan out, this team is going to be in turmoil with a high payroll with little flexibility, and they'll be stuck with too many high priced players to maneuver.

Ok, I'm done with you. You know so little, it's getting boring. Keep thinking that Solomon Wilcox knows details of the direction the Bills are headed. I guess the Bills will prove you wrong. The pundits have us in the bottom 5 teams. If we draft in the bottom five you'll be right, if we don't I will be. -

I agree with you for the most part Gabe. I don't think the level headed Bills fan thinks we are looking good for 2010, but rather that things are looking like they are headed in the right direction, based on the decisions the front office and coaching staff have made thus far. As you know for us that is a major upgrade, we haven't been confident in our FO and coaching staff in quite some time. -

You've made my point. From an eyeball test I can completely understand the criticism, that's exactly what I'm saying. But for an optimistic fan like myself who likes what he's seeing out of the new regime, the national media doesn't know the team well enough to even sense the change. That's why I said we are going to have to win for them to change their view of us. They don't follow our team that closely.
