I am now a fan of Rex Ryan and...

Ryan is negotiating for Revis. Ryan is making it harder on the front office to get anything done. -
Not many players have had a chance to shine in Buffalo. Woodbury is near the end of the line in that regard.

Lynch Should be Traded for an OT
Buffalonian-at-Heart replied to box0life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why would he be a N.O. Saint? And when do you predict he will get traded to the Saints? Can you also let us know why the Saints would trade for McNeil? The Saints just traded Jammal Brown to the Redskins because they are supremely confident in Jermon Bushrod, who filled in for Brown last year when he got injured and helped lead the Saints to the super bowl. -
What's fictitious is believing this is funny.

I've said this all of season. The offense is going to struggle but the defense is going to be much improved. We all know we are going to struggle to rush the passer, so we can only hope our secondary can repeat their performance from last year even though it's much more of a man to man scheme. But I believe the days of pushing Buffalo around in the run game are over.

What if Trent becomes an above average QB???

What if you left the facets the same color as the faucets? Then everything would look similar instead of similiar. Otherwise you'll just have not a great bathroom. -

Where have you heard he's in danger of being cut? I live in Charlotte and haven't heard or read that. -
Aaron Schobel to be Released

Not trying to argue with you, but I think Nix was referring to the 1st round when saying he wouldn't draft a one year wonder. The rules change as you get further into the draft for obvious reasons. That's like calling him out on saying we are going to draft players that can come in and help this team, then they cut a guy they draft in the 7th round, and calling them liars. -

Oh I understand where he's coming from. And maybe I'm taking it a bit to literal. But based on his follow up in the blog responses below his assessment. He emphatically believes he has Troup's entire career labeled from one week of the kids first training camp. Even if he devoted every minute watching Troup, which he clearly didn't as he had opinions on many other players, how is it possible to come to that definitive of a conclusion? -

What's odd is being that emphatic about the box he put a guy in after seeing him for one week. So he's either one of the greatest talent evaluators of all time, or he jumped the gun by a country mile on that comment. -
Mixed Feelings Regarding Schoebel
Buffalonian-at-Heart replied to bills in va's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At the end of the Schobel era what did we get? A guy that amassed a decent sack total. It would be a challenge to determine 3 incredible memories from Schobel's career. He wasn't a game changer, he didn't elevate those around him, he was an aloof teammate on and off the field. Got paid elite money for being an underwhelming player. He got along with the other players on the team that were ok with him not being a great teammate. Lunch pal guy, comes to work everyday, gives 110%, to me those are empty comments with no substance. -
So do you see my point? Say Edwards, Brohm, and Brown are the 3 QB's that make the team. They all need to be developed. Can it be possible to devote enough "developing" to all three of them, and be able to make a sound decision on what to do next year? Seems like a daunting task to me. That's why I think they aren't going to commit to developing all 3 long term. I don't see how they can.
-
I for the most part agree with your assessment. However I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around how it's possible to do all this developing. Edwards needs to develop, Brohm needs to develop and be groomed, Fitz can't be developed beyond what he is, Brown needs to develop. That's a lot of developing. I know it sounds like I'm trying to be a smart butt, but (no pun intended) how can all this developing evolve into determining the future? Do you know what I mean? It seems to me like someone better step up, or a new guy (dare I say it), will be brought in next year to be developed.

I usually respect Brian Galliford's assessments but how he can put Troup in that small of a box so soon is beyond me. Our second round pick is close to reaching his ceiling , in the first week of his first training camp? -
I honestly don't. I would feel different if week after week and year after year Schobel was getting double teamed and you saw teams just take out our super star Right Defensive End by scheming a game plan to remove him from the game. But teams didn't have to do that. Especially the last 4 years. Simply playing him straight up with the tackle did the trick. I'm not saying teams never doubled Schobel, they did, and when they did he got blown up and became completely irrelevant. The opportunity he had to amass sacks in Buffalo wouldn't have been there anywhere else. I can't think of more than a few teams that Schobel would or could be the starting RDE for 9 years, and get paid the elite money he was getting. To me when Jauron came in and mandated everyone get lighter and faster, that was the beginning of the end for Schobel. Like a good soldier he did it and lost 20 or more pounds, and he's never been the same. He became too light to bull rush on passing downs and play the run, and the weight loss wasn't significant enough to help him gain the edge or get better in coverage on the back or Tight End.

Boom 800 baby. I made it, I made it.

I totally respect your feelings on Schobel and for a lot of reasons he was a good player. But he wasn't better than good, he was an average player with an above average sack total. He was never an impact player. He wasn't the kind of player that appeared possessed an entire game and elevate the play of those around him. You never got that feeling like if they don't get this Left Tackle out of the game Schobel may kill their QB. He was a below average athlete that over achieved on an organization that never had anyone better than him in 9 years, as such it appeared he was better than he actually was. On the Patriots he would have had a third of those sacks, because the playing time just wouldn't have been there.
