  1. Marv Levy is a class act and was a pretty good football coach. One can question his choice of a head coach and his talent evaluation, but he has earned all of our respect and deserves to be thanked for trying to fix this team. He took a chance. It didn't work. Move on and have a little self respect.
  2. Yikes, glad I didn't get to watch that poor excuse for football. Just caught a little radio of it and decided to do something else. Guess we wait until next Spring and hope a lot of different people are running this show.
  3. Not gonna happen. Ralph knows that Lombardi couldn't win with this team and all its injuries, both physical and mental. He'll let Dick ride out the season and pull the plug then, if only to keep season tickets from tanking. Can't help but think he is stripping things down to prepare for the next owner in whatever city that may be.
  4. I don't know why anyone thought we had much of a chance with practice squad players in key positions. This is another 2007. It's too bad. They were looking ok until Poz went down. Now teams just have to shoot the middle of the defense, especially now that Whitner is out too. It's rotten luck and shows how cheap we've been in getting depth.
  5. Finally got to see them play on a Sunday here in S Florida. Almost went to the game. Glad I didn't. What did I learn? The Dolphins can beat up on our second stringers. 2007 all over again.. I also thought Trent was going to be good, but I think Bill Walsh was wrong about him. We keep getting these guys who never really won in college and never played in the snow. How smart is that? I'll watch the scoreboard from now on, but I have more important things to do than watch preseason games until December.
  6. Yeah, I tried this one last week and got nothing. Thanks for the other tips. Here in FL I couldn't even watch the FSU-USF game on TV (not that I'm terribly disappointed to not have witnessed it..)
  7. 1. Miami Dolphins, but mostly their fans. 2. Miami Hurricanes 3. Florida Gators 4. N.E. Patriots 5. St. Louis Cardinals
  8. Losing the field position battle in the last few series
  9. Same problem of porous secondary.
  10. Just need to tighten up the secondary. They were getting shredded until the pick
  11. Lee Evans still plays for us? Awesome.
  12. and a long wait for Poz to come back from injury... Teams will attack the middle now.
  13. Just when it looked like there was some hope for this season. We are now amazingly weak up the middle.
  14. Normally I discount preseason, but this is really ugly. I don't think there's much chance that these guys don't have enough pride to dog it in preseason. They want to win their individual battles, even w/o a game plan, but I don't see it. This love affair with undersized players makes no sense in a home field that snows for a 3rd of the season. I think Ralph was hoping that Dickie would turn into a Jeff Fisher, who took a few years to get a good team going. He realizes that he probably doesn't have time to blow it all up and start again, so he's hoping against hope. God bless the man, but he's only made one good hire in his life and he ran that guy (Polian) out of town.
  15. Pretty drastic. I agree that we need new leadership (or at least some), but good teams build the lines first. Guess what the Buffalo Bills have done? The best skill players in the world won't help you until you build the lines. Take 2 years and draft linemen and get free agents, then plug in good skill players. That's building for the future. Oh yes, get a cold-weather quarterback for God's sake. Kelly played in PA before college in Miami. He understood the elements. These California kids have no clue and never will.
  16. Ha! I think 7-9 IS optimistic for this team.
  17. Preseason or not, they got schooled.
  18. It's only the largest because they count the entire county in the Metro count. Miami is much bigger in actual city size. I go there frequently and find it to be just a big spread out suburb without much of a center city identity. With the big hispanic population, it would be a good soccer city, but most of the folks care more about college football.
  19. I have to agree with those who say let him wait all he wants. I don't see a Superbowl team this year and if we overpay then we are stuck with dead money for a borderline player. Not a good pick to begin with. Someone please clean this house...
  20. Am I the only one who remembers Walker playing LT when Peters was out at the first of the season last year? I thought he did a respectable job. We didn't start losing until Peters played full time.
  21. Dude, who was our starting LT last year? How bad was he (Langston Walker)? The line will not be the greatest in the NFL, but it will be adequate by game day. Mike
  22. The advantage of smart interior linemen is that they can change variations of a blocking scheme on the spot. When the center calls out the change, smart guys can quickly retrieve the new assignment AND remember where everyone else will be. Add to that a change in snap count, well... being quick witted helps. Offsides often occurs when the center or QB makes a change and the OT or OE doesn't hear it or remembers incorrectly. Mike
