Lot of good stuff here. I'm not completely sold on Edwards as DC. This was a decent defense last year and now it bites. Not much pressure, turnstile against the run, and no coverage linebackers. I think we can keep moving towards a 3-4 and keep Williams for passing downs.

We are 0-3 in overtime because...
1. A questionable non-call on lack of forward progress leading to a fumble.
2. That stupid freezing the kicker tactic, after Lindell made the first field goal.
3. A dropped perfectly thrown TD pass.
4. a crappy defense that can't get out of it's own way

Same here. The guy has what it takes. He just had no defense this year and had to outscore everyone.

If Luck comes out, we won't be in position to get him. If we trade up, it will have Ralph's meddling smell all over it. Fix the defense. We seem to have a pretty good quarterback that we can ride through the rebuilding process.
BTW I might become a Dolphin fan if the Bills changed to all black uniforms. Very high school. Bring back the classic "throwbacks" we have now. They look like football uniforms, not roller derby outfits.

Since there are fewer of them, a higher percentage of the total get benched or cut. Do a simple algebra equation to get the numbers of white and black quarterbacks to equal out and I'll bet fewer black QBs are benched at the end. Sure we have racism in this country, but not that much in sports where winning is more important.

Is there any evidence that Luck is coming out this year? He is only a sophomore right now. I like taking Quinn, but we won't be 3rd. He was a real headache to a good FSU OL this year.

They should waive the personnel evaluator who recommended signing him. I'm serious. How does that person continue to collect a paycheck? What possibly could qualify as "failure" within OBD enough to warrant termination?
Apparently back-to-back 7-9 seasons.

fitz is a great competitor but he is not a QB that can win us a super bowl. he simply does not possess the physical tools namely arm strength and accuracy to be a franchise QB and anyone who does not understand that does not know football plain and simple.
so just stop with all this fitz is our guy for the future BS because as much as all you guys have a man crush on him he is what he is a great backup and will never be a franchise QB.
Hmm.. I think Fitz can be plenty accurate. He tends to elevate the ball when he gets flustered, but with a few more games, I think he can slow the game down even more. I'm willing to find out.

I just hope that this is not a one-year thing, which happens with some B-level QBs. I still think we are not a championship team next year, so keep Fitz under center and draft the best DL for the 3-4 (DE or NT) that you can find OR a monster LB. If a stud QB is available in the 2nd, don't pass this year. We also need help in Free Agency. Building through the draft will take a very long time with this team's track record.

What I notice is that when things get tense he tends to throw too high and too hard. He might be able to fix this, so let's see. BTW when Kelly threw picks, it was due to him trying to squeeze into triple coverage, not wounded ducks like we've seen from Fitz. Just sayin'.

Agreed, he's DE in the 3-4 on running plays. Good football player. We don't have enough.
First round really should be the top legit pass rusher in the country LB or DE. No more Maybins... If that's not available get an LT.

Watched my Seminoles give away another one. This has to be the worst defense in college football. 35 points at home should be enough.

Umm.. Kelly was not the best QB to play the game. He was a darn good one and the best we've had, but there are about 8 in front of him.

We are 0-7 because we changed to a 3-4 defense w/o the people or the coach for it. The offense has progressed some just by sending Edwards packing. We also have a very tough schedule this year. Keep everything from last year and we slip to 5-11.

I've been watching Ponder all year (well until the last game) and I think he would be a good choice, but not in the first round. He can run, makes good decisions, and has a pretty good arm. He also has the height to play in the NFL. He would be a good choice if the Bills decide to fix the big problem in the first round (defense or LT). If Luck doesn't come out, trade that pick if there are no Bruce Smith's out there.
BTW the Seminoles were overachieving this year. They are in huge transition with head coach and defense. Ponder has literally carried them all season. He can't play defense, so they have outshoot people.

You have to be careful about value in the first round. If you don't think any of the QBs are the next coming of Jim Kelly, trade down and get 2 first round picks if you can. Take a seriously dangerous pass rushing DE or LB, then grab a big DT for middle. In the 2nd start working on depth for the OL and LBs. We don't have any.

What is happening is nobody is challenging our secondary. WRs are not getting open. So teams are sending the WRs out then floating in a TE who our LBs can't cover, or they run. We are not getting killed with plays to the WRs, we are getting killed by TEs and RBs because our LBs S-U-C-K. They are being exploited every game.

Take a good look at Christian Ponder when you get the chance. He's actually a graduate student, has great legs, good vision and a decent arm. What I like is his leadership and poise under pressure. If he had a defense, he would be playing for a title this year.

Ya gotta feel for Gailey. Nix and Wilson are probably riding him to see if he can get the kid fixed, considering he was a 1st rounder. Lots of money and face involved here. One has to wonder who made the call to draft him. Wilson was right in his statement that he bears a lot of responsibility. If he can stay out the draft discussions, we might get this thing fixed, but it looks like he is already tipping the team's hand on what they want. Frankly I'd prefer drafting a LB, OT, or WR before a QB. You can sign a reasonably good journeyman QB for year or two until you build the lines and defense. We are scoring points. We just can't stop anyone. Oh where have you gone Mr Cottrell?

I've taught at some high-ranking colleges and I can tell you that not everyone at Stanford is smart. That said, I don't even think the Harvard thing has much to do with Fitzpatrick's eye for the field. That's a special intelligence. Kelly had it, too, even though he ignored what he saw sometimes and threw brutal picks. One has to know the other team's defensive strategy (they can't change that much week to week) and then be able to ignore the smokescreens they set up. The crucial part is that split second after the snap, to be able see the whole field and where everyone is breaking and then make a decision. Trent just couldn't do that. Maybe it was the concussion.
