  1. We were lucky to be so far ahead when we lost the whole right side of the OL. Hope it's not for long. Someone needs to kick Glenn's rear.
  2. Kept Dixon and cut Fred. Someone remind me why.
  3. Shady needs to sit
  4. Yeah, if you are going with TT as your starter, best to keep EJ who has a similar skill set to avoid completely overhauling the offense in case of injury.
  5. Here's a question. I was not on this board when Thurman was cut. Was the reaction the same? I would guess not, because everyone knew it was time. This is different. FJ was cut when most of our backfield is injured. We are told they will be fine, but we haven't even been told what Karlos's problem is. I'm just not buying everything I hear from official sources. I think the Bills are better with FJ this year. I don't know about next year, but I think this move will not strengthen the team, especially on passing downs.
  6. My take on "rogue" is that Whaley was the only one who really had a thing against Jackson. Who knows why that was. Could have been personal. FJ's remark suggests this. Whaley wanted to cut him preseason, but the Pegs seem to have nixed that. He finally wore them down and the owners went back into "owner mode" and signed off to cover him. As for age, he has fewer NFL carries than McCoy, who is 27. Fred is not a burner but he was still the best pass blocker and always fell forward for yardage, unlike our other backs (even with the crappy OL design last year).
  7. Just watched the presser with Whaley. What a waste of time. He essentially says "it was a hard decision" but wouldn't explain his reasoning. "Competitiveness reasons?" What a load. Exactly what edge is a team going to get if he gives the reasons? Maybe it gives Fred a better chance to get hired if they don't disclose? I want him to answer the question regarding how you go into the last preseason game cutting your only healthy veteran running back. First rule of press conferences. Don't schedule one if you are not answering any questions.
  8. ^^^^ This, this, this. My question is why all the Bryce Brown love on this board? Coaches manage the game, but fans actually watch it. Fred brings intangibles such as those mentioned above. What other back that we have has such a nose for blitz pickup and making something of nothing?
  9. Hmm. ALL the TEs looked bad? What's the common factor here.... Oh yeah, we don't have a freaking QB.
  10. We have to remember that we needed a QB and there wasn't much out there in that draft in foresight. I watched EJ as an FSU fan and he's still the same. He can win some with his legs but lose them with his arm and bone-head decisions. BTW FSU took a few years off to make the Gators feel better. How they doing now? Oh yeah...
  11. Since I live in S. Florida, it was an easy answer!
  12. I've been watching O'Leary for his whole college career. He will struggle at first in the NFL, due to his lack of quickness, but he's very smart and will find a way to succeed in time. At FSU he would disappear for long stretches and then "bang" he makes a game winning catch and run. He's a real football player and I'm glad he is on the Bills.
  13. Yup. Not the same thing. Draft is about the future. FA is about now. Good teams are drafting for future needs, not immediate ones (except maybe RB or kicker).
  14. Ward didn't play in the NFL. Weinke was a fine backup. Ponder got shoved in a crappy situation. Book still out on EJ If you follow FSU, like some of us do, you would know that few people work as hard as Winston does. Did he make some dumb decisions and get a little full of himself. Yup. Too bad he didn't stay for his senior year to clean up his act a bit and work on reading safeties a bit better. I think he will be a good one, though. It will take some time.
  15. They should be able to find one outside the draft or draft one very late. Say goodbye to CJ. Even during his good season, he couldn't find a hole if it had a neon sign. I want his last run to be his last Bills run (sideways as usual).
  16. NE is a great team, but it is a little fishy how they manage to stink up a first half and then dominate in the second. Yeah they make good adjustments, but I wouldn't be surprised that there were other advantages not sanctioned by the league. Tom Brady will win more than just about any NFL quarterback, but he will be hard to remember because 1) he has no personality and 2) his strenght is threading the short passes to great TE's. My grandson will ask me if I remember watching Tom Brady. I'll say, "not really".
  17. If Nick O'Leary is there for us in the 2nd round, I say take him. He's a bit slow, but gets open and catches everything.
  18. In January? No wonder everyone was looking for them in June.
  19. I was at that game. Indelible memory seeing that giant Smerlas paw emerge from the line to block a chip shot! and a million turnovers, Kelly going out (prob should not have played) in the 2nd quarter. Too much to ask Reich.
  20. The OP forgets that we had to face Marino twice a year and Elway and Moon in the playoffs. The long ball came plenty. We lost to the Giants because Hostetler sold his soul for that 3rd and 13 and Kelly had a bad day until the final quarter. We beat ourselves by knocking Simms out of the reg season game.... The Skins and Cowboys were just better teams. No one was going beat them from the AFC.
