Kevin Walter came on this year, too. 60 catches, 900yds, and 8 TDs is very solid for a #2 receiver. His production relates directly to Johnson being on the other side (and Owens), but regardless, he had a good year.
Except when the QB is in there. Then they get sucked straight back to their own endzone like its a race to the goalline between the two.
Towards the end of the season, I could literally feel how slow he was when other teams were running their 2 reverses a game on him.
He did take the easy way out, but he would have been down either way and wouldn't have gained much more. All Jackson could have done was put his helmet down and barrel into the punter, but he wouldn't have gone anywhere. There was another defender that was even with the punter, but was 2 yards towards the middle of the field and closing fast.
Also don't forget that the punter is 40lbs heavier and has 6 inches on Jackson, who is smaller (5'10 175lbs) than Roscoe.
He had a good game with 110yds on punt returns with a 34yd catch and a great rookie year.
Because he's going to be one of the highest paid lineman in the NFL when he gets a new contract. If it happens this year or next, with the Bills or not, he'll be making at least $10M/yr. If a player of his caliber is paid that amount, imagine when the next stud who is a real LT comes along. Making him a starting pro bowl LT increases his chances of a new contract this year.
Ever? Please. Of this generation, you might be correct (other than Manning), but if you were to take him to another team, he's not the same force that he's been. He happened to fall into the perfect spot to have an awesome career. Matt Cassel is a good example of this. You can take average players and plug them into a great system and they'll flourish. I'd take the Pats coaching staff over Tom Brady 10 out of 10 times.
I agree that typically, its not a good idea. The other time this season it happened was when Mitchell laid a pretty late hit on Kurt Warner after Edwards took the helmet to helmet hit. I think that was late in the game when they were down already so it didn't really hurt their chances of winning. Watching a Raiders game makes me thankful that our players are more disciplined than that.
Yeah it sucks. We have arguably the best punt returner in Roscoe, the best kick returner in Leodis, but neither go because in the probowl its "punt/kick returner".
