  1. no, he said he did something stupid and regrets it...now i hope he blasts the hell out of the union and the justice dept for letting this out....

There's absolutely going to be defamation lawsuits from the players that get named.

I think what he said was the right thing to do. Own up to it, and just move on. There won't be any backlash from anybody but the media and fans, so what do you really have to lose? You make the same money, don't get suspended, and don't get indicted for anything.

  2. The other feature I like is the intelligent sensor. It changes the brightness of the screen depending on the light conditions of the room. The sun blares directly into my room and has always made the picture look bad on sunny days.

Not sure if you have an older TV in there now or an LCD, but LCD's typically absorb light rather than reflect it, so it may not be as big of an issue once you get the new one.

  3. Samsung LN-T3253H (32-inch LCD flat panel)

If you looking for something a bit smaller, this Samsung is currently the highest rated 32-inch model.

Sharp LC-32GP1U (32-inch LCD flat panel)

This is the Sharp model with the Vyper Drive. I'm skeptical about how much of a performance boost it truly offers, but the TV is quite good regardless, although we dinged it a bit for being on the pricey side for 32-inch LCDs. It also comes in a 37-inch model, the LC-37GP1U.

These are the highest rated 32inch for gaming based on this editorial from CNET.

It seems that the bottom line is that if the TV is good, it will be good for gaming. I personally have a 40in Samsung 1080p and it's awesome for TV and awesome for gaming. If I were you, I'd go with the one that you picked out (LG), Samsung, or Sharp. They are all great brands for flat screens and have consistent high performance rates since LCD's became popular.

  4. Anyway...I'm trying to equate this to something that could happen to me and I'm having a hard time of it.

I guess that one example would be if you took LSD prior to it being illegal back in the 70's, and then got arrested for it once it was made illegal years later.

But even that's a stretch because nobodys going to actually be arrested, and nobody's going to be suspended from baseball. The only real effects from this will be in the court of public opinion.

  5. Spent many days lounging on the beach at Pawleys Island. If i was going to move there I would find a place close to Murrells Inlet and Pawleys Island.

Yeah, she used to live in Pawleys when she lived down there after college. Awesome place with all kinds of unique stores and shops. Her sister now lives in Murrells Inlet and loves it.

  6. Oh it's all the rage with the 20-somethings out here in Colorado. I can't tell you how many bars downtown have PBR on tap and have PBR nights mid week for the college crowd. The youngins think they're "old-school" by drinking it while wearing their trucker hats and mirrored cop sunglasses.

Here in Philly, its the same thing. Pretty much every bar has PBR pounders or they have it on tap.

There's a bar here called Bob & Barbara's that has the biggest collection of PBR stuff in the world (so they say). Literally, wall to wall PBR trinkets, signs, glasses, etc. Their all day, every day special is a PBR pounder and a shot of Jim Beam for $3.

  7. My fiance is from there, and a nice alternative to Myrtle & North Myrtle is Murrells Inlet & Pawleys Island. Since you're working in North Myrtle, the trip would be longer, but housing is less and there really aren't alot of bad places in either.

Not sure if you have kids, but the public schools in North Myrtle & Murrells Inlet are the place to put them. I'm sure there are some nice private schools in the area too, but her niece goes to Murrells Inlet and it's very nice. Surf Side Beach is another small town that is nice, and closer to Myrtle.

The beaches in both places are great. Not alot of people, and beautiful sand dunes with wide beaches.

Really, there aren't alot of bad places other than downtown Myrtle, which is all tourists and not so nice neighborhoods.

Charleston's only 1 1/2 hrs away and is an awesome historic city. Totally different than any of the Eastern cities up here.

There are tons of bike trails along the beach (I rode one in Murrells Inlet over Christmas).

As far as sports, I'm not sure. Her dad is a Cleveland Browns fan and he has the NFL ticket. He actually lives near Georgetown, which is south of Myrtle. That is another nice day trip to make.

There are tons of places to explore and fish down there, too. Piers, charters, etc. Have fun! I would suggest taking up some sort of beach activity that youve never done before and take advantage of the new scenery.

  8. I think that is a good price . beats spending $1500 and finding out you don't want to get in to riding . Once they have shifted do they slip ? or only when you are shifting ?

Well, I think it was after I shifted, but I'm not real familiar with how it works. It didn't really affect my ride, but just something I noticed.

Also, thanks for the PM, I'll check it out.

  9. I want to buy a used bike, and I'm looking at a Trek on craigslist.

    http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bik/1024376316.html

This would be my first bike, as I'm looking to do something other than running and working out in the gym like I do now. I'll probably be using it mainly on city streets or some of the paved trails here in Philly, and I'm not looking for anything real expensive or fancy. I'm just looking to make sure this early 90's model is worth the price. The guy who is selling it was real knowledgeable and had a ton of bikes in his garage. I guess this could be a good thing or a bad thing.

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to bikes, but does anyone on here know if this would be worth it? I went and checked it out and rode it, and it rides nice, but the gears slip a bit after I shift.

    Any help is much appreciated.

  10. Get real. How exactly would announcing Dick's extension early changed anything? Seriously. The crap storm is generated by the media and boards like these, and it would have been the same crap storm either way. In fact the only difference would have been seeing everyone go from "Great Job, Ralph!" to "How can you be so dumb, Ralph?" in the course of 6 weeks.

    PTR

Doubtful. Of course there would have been some idiots calling for him to be fired, but not nearly as there were. I can't think of a time when a coach was extended half way through a season, then fired at the end of that season.

Fans would have criticized Ralph for sure, but at least there wouldn't have been the "was he or wasn't he" debate going on, which infuriated people even more once the official announcement came out.

  11. What could Ralph have done after the extension was announced and the nose dive began? The extension looked like the correct thing to do at that point. No one forsaw the horrific tanking that started next game, as if on cue. I think that anything Ralph would have said at that point would have incited the fans even further. "Heckuva job Brownie" comes to mind.

In retrospect, Ralph would have been better off waiting until the end of the season before he made any public statement regarding DJ's contract status. Who knows....Jauron might have been fired on 12/28/08.

What he could have done was either wait until the end of the season to extend him or fire him (like you said), or he could have publicly announced it when he extended him. The whole uproar could have been avoided because it's tough for someone to reasonably call for someone's head when they know definitively that he was just extended.

If you remember, the extension was never actually announced. It was rumoured from week 6 through the end of the season, then it was 'announced'.

  12. I think that Laurinaitis is going to end up being this years Dan Connor. If you remember last year at this time, Connor was going to be a first round pick, too.

I doubt he'll fall to the third round like Connor, but I could see him being available when we pick in the 2nd round. And honestly, I hope the Bills don't take him.

  13. I agree with you that this whole "Fire Jauron" mess could have been avoided if Ralph would have just done what every other team in the league does and announce it when it happens. Regardless of how the season ended, nobody could reasonably think that he was going to be fired (and consequentially let down when it didn't happen) if Ralph had come out and announced the extension when it happened.
