It doesn't look like EJ trusts TJ like he does Stevie and Woods. I can't say I really blame him when TJ doesn't try to make a play on the ball, even if it's underthrown. The WGR guys were saying Graham was getting over in the 2nd half, but EJ wasn't looking his way. I'd like to see them get on the same page to see some productivity.

I went with: Inability to convert 3rd downs, Penalties, and Turnovers. I believe untimely penalties and drops were the largest causes of this loss. I counted 5 first downs nullified due to those reasons. That is significant, especially when seeing the Bills converted 15 total first downs in the game. Of course, turning the ball over in your own end is also a fast way to give a game away.

8 days away isn't far off, but it will feel like forever. There definitely seems to be more excitement this year than in recent memory. I guess that comes with taking a QB in the 1st round!

The Offensive Line Is Still Terrible
timba replied to KitchenerKaizer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Buddy has been able to find some decent lineman off of other teams scrap heaps. Urbik, Rinehart, Pears Hairston was a 4th round pick who, so far, has been serviceable. I'm eager to see what Zebrie Sanders brings us this year. I'm confident in Buddy finding us some talent to upgrade our interior. -
I hope to see 'Buddy sucks at picking in the 2nd round' busted tonight.

I won't argue with having "more access." So close...

Bills hire Doug Marrone to be Head Coach
timba replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been doing some research on Marrone, and am finding mostly positive feedback. To those who are dead set against the hire, could you please elaborate on your misgivings of the hire? I've read that he: Is very aggressive in his schemes, but conservative with his game day play calling Has taken a historically bad SU program and taken it to two bowl wins Has taken Nassib, a QB who after his freshman year was expected to be an UDFA at best, and helped him become a potential top 2 round pick Has experience managing two running backs Is not an NFL retread, but still has head coaching experience Offensive minded coach, has been associated with success in the NFL as OC (New Orleans) and OL coach (Jets) http://scottpitoniak.blogspot.com/2013/01/marrone-good-choice-to-rebuild-buffalo.html - Drew Brees told me that he “loved working with Marrone because Doug knew offenses inside and out, was meticulous in his preparation and was a great leader.” He knows how to prevent a player from poisoning the locker room, Mike Williams at SU for example This is not something the Bills do. The more I read about Marrone the more I'm liking. -
Game Day thread @ Houston: Our Season in One Game
timba replied to TakeYouToTasker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Glad I wasn't the only one who saw it. 6-7 at half? I wouldn't have guessed it. Bills get ball 1st in the 2nd half. A chance at the lead. GO BILLS! -
Merriman not in his natural position , OLB, Why???
timba replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The responsibilities of a 3-4 OLB and a 4-3 OLB are not the same. A 3-4 OLB most closely translates to a 4-3 DE. This is exactly what happened with Mario on the Texans. He was a 4-3 DE up until last year when Wade Philips implemented a 3-4 D, which he played as an OLB. -
Mario Williams considering wrist surgery (now confirmed)
timba replied to buffalo1983's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Apparently playing with the injury has rendered him ineffective. May as well have the surgery and see if it helps. -
You're speaking my language today. I had the same thought earlier. It hurts because I care. I care because they're like family. You can get mad at them, yell at them, berate them, but you still stick with them.

1. Players not executing their responsibilities with effort and consistency.

What The Headlines About The D Should Say
timba replied to Formerly Allan in MD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Vanilla D and Whiff Cream: Opposing O feasts again -
This was the single worst play call of the game. It was tied 14-14, ball at the TEN 33, 3rd and 9. The D hadn't had a stop yet in the game, and our O only had one possession at the time. So the logic is to take the guy who gets the most consistent penetration on the line and put him into zone coverage. What the F. Can't get pressure with 4, so lets do 3 instead? Having KW rush may not have yielded a different result on the play, but at least you're putting your best players in a situation where they can do what they do best.

Any ranking system is going to be subjective based off of how the ranker weighs each criteria in which they evaluate the squad/position. What is more important is how the line is performing in the offense that it is running. Clearly this will also be subjective, but I would say the Bills line is doing an admirable job of handling their responsibilities. I'm glad for the depth we have with Rinehart and Hairston, but I think both Urbik and Glenn have been more consistent while they're playing.

That ranking came before this season even started. The line has been better than I, and many others, expected it to be.
