The American Media Should Not Be Trusted
LeviF replied to SCBills's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
All this crowing about "free press" while the WH basically conducts state media sessions and their favorite news stations openly employ "former" spooks and military intelligence. -
Just take it off. Odds are nobody will say anything. And if you get kicked out then congratulations you managed to free yourself of a ***** gym.

The American Media Should Not Be Trusted

So there's layers to this that can be concisely summed up as "NPR is fake news." If you want more, read on. Ms. Totenberg, and by extension NPR, gambled big with this story. The USSC is one of the more closed-off public-facing institutions in the USG. They DO NOT leak. And as a rule they do not respond to fake news about them. Remember the Lin Wood schizo-degenerative breakdown? When he accused the Chief ***** Justice of being a pedophile? The Supreme Court didn't even respond to that. You can lie your ass off about Supreme Court justices and they will never dignify your lie with a response. So this seemed like a decent gamble: toss in your $10,000 (Gorsuch defies masking request, a lie) to win $100 (clout, a name, etc.), it's a sure thing. Well that blew up in their faces. Gorsuch, Sotomayor, and the Chief Justice all issued statements flatly denying that such a thing took place (and they probably hate that they did, the press office of the USSC usually handles all statements and they don't do it often, I think they had like 20 press releases in all of 2021). So now NPR retreats with a broader angle: oh, that story was meant to be illustrative of the broader point which, by the way, the Supreme Court hasn't denied. NPR knows that the justices are unlikely to speak on the issue again because finding out whether or not they all get along is a specious and irrelevant pursuit. And so yes, they haven't denied the "broader point" of the original story, but they wouldn't regardless of its truthfulness. Which is why even the response, as well as the story, is fake news. -

Reminder that, five years ago, the New York Times published images of murder effigies of Trump staffers and then spent the next four years crowing about "divisive rhetoric" and advocating for mass banning on social media platforms. -

If you think I'm worth $1M alive, rather than dead, I appreciate your optimism. -

As he said earlier in the video, when you throw the ball away and your TE goes up and gets it for a TD instead, it's just your day. -

Isn’t it funny how the folks that call parents who go to school board meetings terrorists are suddenly very nuanced when it comes to a dude named Malik Akram holding a sabbath service hostage.

Let’s check in on democracy savers: https://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/partner_surveys/jan_2022/covid_19_democratic_voters_support_harsh_measures_against_unvaccinated These are no longer fellow citizens and countrymen. They’re lunatics and enemies.

I tried for like four minutes before clicking on the thread trying to figure out what it was. Closest was “Make buffalo bills tailgating a party again”

I don't think Flores is a particularly good coach but his QB takes, as reported, are like 100% correct.

Your poasting pattern suggests you assume a lot about American politics that is tenuously or technically true, at best. If you are in fact Canadian this isn't surprising nor is it uncommon. The reality is that the lack of civility and the attitude pervasive in American political discourse is a feature, not a bug, and a result of sixty years of careful maneuvering by government agencies, lobbyists, and the uber-wealthy. Are Russia and China looking to benefit? Of course. Are they heavily involved? No. The sad fact is that treacherous Americans have done these things to their own people. The CIA does not exist to spread the American way around the world. This is a common misunderstanding of what their mission and goals are. The CIA is an intelligence gathering agency that exists for the sole purpose of ensuring domestic security. On paper, they answer solely to the President. "Ensuring domestic security" has been interpreted in a variety of ways over the years, to include arming and funding despots friendly towards American interests and carrying out political assassinations half a world away. They play a very long game and don't really answer in any way to the people of the USA, which is a salient criticism of the Company. The "split" you describe isn't between Democrat and Republican, or even conservative and liberal, per se. It's a tension between those who cherish the republican values instilled in the original government of this nation and those who do not. This is why the split seems so large when it's "just politics." It's not just politics. This is a deeply philosophical, even religious divide that is played out in political and social proxy wars. The writers of the US Constitution stated their goals: to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to (them)selves and (their) posterity. These are not the goals of the United States Government for the past sixty years. Far from it.
