Church Of England Debate Gender Of God
LeviF replied to Tiberius's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yes the issue at hand at Ephesus was whether the divine and human natures of Jesus of Nazareth were separate, thereby rendering Mary “mother of Christ,” as Nestorius and his followers claimed, rather than “mother of God” as the church had begun to refer to her. The council ruled against Nestorius and re-affirmed that Christ had two distinct, not separate, natures in union together in one person. As far as “gender” of God goes no, God does not have a male or female “gender” like we are born with. God, in the Christian tradition, is spirit and ultimately only is human in the united God-Man Christ (and even then in a way unique to him). But God refers to himself almost exclusively using masculine language, including “man of war,” “Father,” “Son (in the person of Christ),” etc. God is referred to as “Father” over 150 times in the Bible, by my count. The creeds of the church, liturgy, tradition all reflect this. As pointed out by someone upthread, Jesus himself instructed his followers to address God as “Father.” On the other hand, if the Anglicans wish to further distance themselves from the historical Christian tradition, well I suppose that will be about as on brand as it gets lol -

This would place you outside of the orthodox Christian tradition, specifically the findings of the Council of Ephesus against the heresy of Nestorianism. -

Aside from the fact that God almost exclusively self-refers in the masculine throughout the Bible, the particularly odd bit about this whole thing is that the (little "O") orthodox Christian tradition believes that Jesus of Nazareth is himself God, which you would think would put an end to the "debate" entirely. -

My favorite is probably Chinese Jesus complete with fu manchu. The RC and EO churches both allow for icons to be constructed with similar ethnic markers as the local populations. Anyway I guess all this is what happens when a king decides to start a schism because he doesn't like his wife. -

Are you attempting to say that depictions of deities that reflect one's culture are efforts to "white"wash said divine being? -
Something very different: who we really are. 😄

Yeah anyone who has bothered to read up on the matter knows that America as our fathers dreamed of it died in Dallas some sixty years ago. I hesitated to post ITT at first because I’ve barely been alive thirty years but in this age of information it’s hard to believe that anybody can take at face value the official stories of watergate and JFK’s murder (along with several other events in recent history). But here we are, with a Zyn addict trust fund baby blowing people’s minds by simply repeating barely-hidden facts on a network known better for the busty blondes than the journalism. The real crux of the whole thing is this: That’s the deep state. GS-15s or whatever with TS:SCI clearances who run, with zero effective oversight, some of the biggest and most powerful government agencies on earth. It’s not particularly insidious on its face, as the Q types would have you believe, it’s just that the most schoolmarmish, neurotic, and dorkish individuals tend to occupy these seats because those are the no-chested types who flourish in bureaucracies that refuse to reward true valiant striving. But since these all-grown-up theater kids now have some power with none of the requisite character to use it correctly, they wield it over their physical and spiritual betters like a headsman’s axe. Even after the democrats actually stole the election in 1960, Nixon showed that he had more character and good nature in his pinky finger than all the shot callers in the justice department combined. And his reward was to become a black smear in every “history” book that graces a classroom in this country. JFK wanted transparency and accountability from his government, and his reward was to have pieces of his skull splattered on the pavement of Dealey Plaza. And we wonder why new-to-the-game politicians talk a big game right up until they actually get where they want to go. I imagine the presidents-elect less familiar with DC inside baseball (see Clinton, William and Obama, Barack) tend to get a pretty hefty explanation of the carrot and stick that await them should they play ball or try to blow it up, respectively. Sorry for the longpoast this ***** bothers me.

Why do the gays love the dems so much ?
LeviF replied to Teddy KGB's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Then create a real millstone act with the appropriate punishment and pony up for nationwide extradition for anyone who travels out of state to violate it. And not that this whornalist would know, but she incorrectly paraphrases the passage in question. -
Why do they always say two drinks

You saw the leaked script too?

This is pretty hilarious considering the 99.99% likelihood that you think any dude who puts on a dress should be allowed to ***** in the same bathrooms as five year old girls.

In fact, being Italian, DeSantis is far more likely to have the creepy mommy worship thing going on than misogyny.

Soft on crime Democrats - the system is the problem?

The aging gays, like any aging cohort of an activist cause, will be more conservative but ultimately ineffectual in the long run. The T and P, er, I mean “plus,” are already being welcomed with open arms by the ruling regime. -

If Dems hadn’t shackled the death penalty to the point where it takes a decade to carry out then you might have a point. Effective and expanded death penalty and mass incarceration would solve our crime problems inside of a year. -
Punishing your enemies and rewarding your friends is what politics is. Do I agree generally with the party line of the NSDAP? No. Fascism is ALWAYS a response to hostile communist takeover of one's culture. And like every reactionary movement it's an overcorrection. But it's what you flirt with when you purposefully degrade a culture through sexual subversion and the undermining of the family structure. A ***** around and find out scenario, if you will.

Based on current trajectory the only question re: Mahomes is whether he will win enough rings to make the GOAT debate interesting.

John Elway is kind of nuts but if he had been replaced by Montana there’s not a lot to complain about.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Institut_für_Sexualwissenschaft Consider while you read that Wikipedia whitewashes anything to do with homosexuals. Then when you’re done you can look up kentler.

Why should anybody allow books advocating for pedophilia and other abominations?
-
"I have nothing to be afraid of," McEwen, who is currently shopping her memoir, said. lol, lmao.
-
Lol sure, the nazis really hated physics. The actual slippery slope is allowing such filth to be read by anyone in the first place. The kentler project is the intellectual child of Weimar era thought.
-
Actually two can play at that game. Which books did the nazis burn?
