  1. You sit there in your heartache Waiting on some beautiful boy to To save you from your old ways You play forgiveness Watch it now, here he comes He doesn't look a thing like Jesus But he talks like a gentleman Like you imagined when you were young
  2. By now, you must've found better than me I'm sure Jupiter and Orpheus have charmed you off your feet By now, I'm sure you've gotten over me While you're kissing clouds and gods I'll be crawling on my knees, Sweet morphine
  3. The problem with the lay understanding of stuff like this is that it can be extended to pretty much anything and is taken to an everyday physical reality rather than a mostly theoretical metaphysical one. Does color exist without an observer? That's the basic question. "Color" is, for the most part, simply the result of certain wavelengths of visible light being absorbed and reflected. But the term "visible light" itself actually implies that in order for it to be categorized as such it must be observed. So is that imprecise language or a reflection of reality? If it can't exist without being observed, then there's questions about every discovery made in space, to include our neighboring planets. Did Mars pop into existence the moment the first human saw a dim red star in the evening sky? The question answers itself.
  4. The movie Event Horizon is a fairly horrific exploration of this idea. Starring Laurence Fishburne and Sam Neill!
  5. Zeno's arrow. A "paradox" that only existed because when Zeno was around we did not understand that an infinite series can converge to a finite limit. In this instance, the sum of the series 1/2^k where k starts at 1 and increases numerically forever, so you get 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 + ... = 1 lol, I know he has a job
  6. And I spent time 'neath the trestles With the punks and the dime store saints Kept faith and a switchblade tucked beneath my coat And I ran with dirty angels, slept out in the rain We were scared and tired and barely 17 And my first sin was a fear that made me old And my first sin was a fear that made me old
  7. Remedial mathematics with Royale
  8. Maybe true. I guess I would hope they can recognize this for what it is, the result of a pernicious mind virus, and move on.
  9. Yeah, you got to mix it, child, you got to fix It must be love, it's a b*tch Yeah, you got to mix it, child, you got to fix It must be love, it's a b*tch, alright
  10. Ate a powerful edible at, what, 8:30 in the morning? Get a job.
  11. These girls will all get over it in a few years, which is fine and valid. But he will never be a woman. Which is what we need to remind these people of constantly.
  12. Bears did the right thing. They need a quarterback and they didn’t see one worth taking first overall in this draft. Virgil does a few on the main board closer to draft time. He does a sign up thread for each.
  13. Adele could have found a home singing opera if she wanted.
  14. Just the voice? It's Adele and it's not particularly close. Overall artistry I give the nod to Gaga. Adele's voice is arguably more interesting than her songwriting and production lol
  15. I know a handful of states have them and NY has indicated they will make them available before the end of 2023. I occasionally work with alcohol compliance at some local concert venues and one of the managers is asking me about them. Depending on requirements and what it costs to implement verification devices/software, they're considering requiring physical documents only for age verification, at least for the foreseeable future. Do you use one? How well does it work for verifying age or identity at liquor stores, bars, government buildings, etc.? Do proprietors scan it like they would a physical license or do they have some kind of special equipment on hand for them? Is there some kind of app for yours, or does it use Apple wallet?
  16. I’ll give Billsy this - he understands propaganda. He knows just as well as the rest of us the truth of the matter. But his tactless shrieking is revealing: the point is that repeating the lie that nobody is allowed to question despite how obviously false it might be is a humiliation ritual. It’s late-state propaganda for a regime that has overthrown the previous one.
  17. Just your friendly reminder that everything - the “experts,” credentialers, the fourth estate, etc. - it’s all BS all the way down. You can safely ignore them.
  18. Make firearm deaths disappear using this one simple trick!
  19. Lol, lmao. Motte/Bailey again. That grant money must be pretty sweet.
  20. "cause there’s no way to isolate and attack a criminal network with an army" Mexico literally just had open battles against cartel factions using - you guessed it - their army.
  21. Here in the dark, I cherish the moonlight I'm in love with the way you're in love with the night And it travels from heart to limb to pen And we waited for the sirens that never come, And we only write by the moon, Every word handwritten
  22. Their government sanctions the kidnapping and murder of federal agents on their soil. What has Syria done that's worse? You were here shilling for regime change there.
  23. As you’ve already apparently guessed, the quantity of drugs coming into the US hasn’t changed so much as the “quality.” The cartels used to traffic a shitload of marijuana but now that it’s legal/decriminalized in many states they’ve diversified. Cocaine, heroin, meth, and fentanyl are moneymakers for them now as well. Easy way to track this sort of thing is to look at CBP figures for seizures at the southwest border.
