  1. For a group as big as that, the lawyers would get a bit less than 40%, but your point isn't without merit. It's very possible that these fans end up getting less than what they could sell a future super bowl ticket for, much less that plus $2400.
  2. Story up on ESPN right now about a Steelers fan who had to watch in a sports bar in the basement of the stadium. He paid around $4k for everything. Edit for link: http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/24526/page/espntexas/a-steeler-fan%E2%80%99s-awful-super-bowl-experience
  3. That's what the e-mail makes it sound like... can't get my hopes up yet, though.
  4. I saw Cloverfield in theatres. I guess the system the theatre I went to had was fairly great, the place was shaking. Loved that movie.
  5. Take a look at Booster's link, it has all sorts of requirements for 1st degree.
  6. I would make a joke about the idiocy limit of the thread being reached already, but we clearly have threads in here with tons more idiocy in them.
  7. I might be wrong, but I don't think "intent" is the same as "premeditation." Premeditation involves forethought, plotting in advance. Intent only involves one's thoughts immediately prior to and during the act. For example, if I were to turn to my roommate right now and stab him in the base of the neck, I will have intended to kill him, but it involved no premeditation. I simply picked up my knife, walked over, and stabbed him.
  8. Premeditation is not a condition for any homicide charge in New York.
  9. As an Anglo-American, I particularly like one verse from the mid-1700's that is no longer in use: Lord, grant that Marshal Wade, May by thy mighty aid, Victory bring. May he sedition hush, and like a torrent rush, Rebellious Scots to crush, God save the King.
  10. When I was a Boy Scout, I was told that we were to stand at attention and salute (Boy Scout salute) during both the Pledge of Allegiance and the Star-Spangled Banner while the flag was displayed.
  11. There shouldn't be. Religious fanatics (of all varieties) will always be trying to kill people, they've been doing it for millennia.
  12. Overreacting much? I don't think it's time to give up quite yet, AJ. Sorry I couldn't make it tonight. Most of you know what it's like being a college student. Suddenly: essays!
  13. Probably means nothing to most of you on here (the Redwall series was a series of children's fantasy books whose publication began in 1986), but these books and my parents' influence (in that order) are the two reasons why I love reading so much now. Damn, I'm legitimately saddened by this news. One last EULALIA! Edit to add news link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-12380763
  14. Communist? How dare you, sir? If it makes you feel better, there's nothing like 80,000 drunken English football fans singing "God Save the Queen." And my favorite would have to be . Those minor notes are badass.
  15. Touché
  16. I've always been fond of the old standbys - Frank's Original and Tabasco original red sauce. Recently tried this stuff, which was hotter than the standbys but also had good flavor. Won't ever put me off Frank's, though
  17. I've never heard a powerful instrumental of our national anthem. I've also never really liked the music it's set to, so maybe I'm biased, but I've always thought that other nations' anthems were far superior to ours, composition-wise. For comparison, the and The Star-Spangled Banner (both instrumentals). And here's a version of the Soviet anthem sung by the Red Army Choir:
  18. David Cameron too... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-12371994
  19. They can be abused as well.
  20. It's a passive hate. I've seen two or three clips with him on youtube.
  21. You're just beginning to hate Sean Hannity?
  22. Better go with the former. If you go by the latter, the gays will be up in arms; it's a little confusing.
  23. Speaking of which, did WisconsinBillzFan get banned or did he just take off?
  24. I guess it's down to an ideological disagreement then. I've never bought the "natural right" bit when it comes to property ownership. To quote Hobbes, "My own can only truly be mine if there is one unambiguously strongest power in the realm, and that power treats it as mine, protecting its status as such." Edit: Non sequitur removed.
