  1. That’s not even the biggest issue. Insurance has to keep going up because it subsidizes all the no-work jobs in the health “care” industry. There’s a graph out there comparing hospital admin job numbers growth compared to medical doctors. Guess which line is exponential and which line is flat.
  2. My medivac ride in 2009 was $16k fwiw. Not sure how much it’s gone up since then. Rising health care costs are just the result of the current insurance racket, which the ACA did nothing to solve.
  3. Snitches get stitches. “Brawl? No no offisuh i dint see no brawl”
  4. I don't think any part of this was thought through enough to get to minutia like that. We're talking about this now but the first licenses probably won't be issued for another year at least. And this was passed in 2019 lmao
  5. Actually yes, they do. You still can't drive if you're impaired by a prescription drug, even if said drug is prescribed to you and you take it according to the prescription instructions.
  6. The people who drive high really don't care about legal dispensaries, FWIW. And then there's this: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10279353/San-Francisco-suspends-cannabis-tax-help-retailers-compete-dealers-store-thefts.html
  7. Do not research this but DRE is essentially modern day divination.
  8. They have until Dec 31 to say "yes" or "no." After that it's automatic "yes." Of course they can still deny through zoning wizardry.
  9. Not only that but many runaways are running away from an abuser as well.
  10. This is how CNN, The Atlantic, and other left media companies think about child exploitation. Meanwhile 1 in 6 runaway children reported to the NCMEC are sex trafficked. Therein lies the problem with the fourth estate. https://www.missingkids.org/theissues/trafficking
  11. Minneapolis PD back to normal funding levels. It’s too late. I do find it hilarious that the experiment lasted all of a year.
  12. Unions only "kill" businesses because the USG, since the 1960s, has failed its people. Any talk about unions or no unions doesn't even matter until we fix the real issues driving down wages and work conditions: unlimited immigration, penalty-free outsourcing and offshoring, and refusal to break modern-day trusts.
  13. Meanwhile the folks squeezed out of the better paying jobs because of unlimited immigration continue to vote for same.
  14. Who says I need to put pants on to buy coffee?
  15. Godspeed, indeed. They'll need all the help they can get, especially if they have no larger affiliation.
  16. Update: one shop has voted to unionize.
  17. I haven't looked into it at all. Part of their issue will be that there is no local franchisee to put the squeeze onto. It's all corporate all day. In a market like Buffalo I'm fairly certain Starbucks will just shut it down.
  18. Not sure if I've hit the 1000 mark but I've kept every book I ever bought, excepting the college texts that I could get decent resale for. Which was maybe 1 per year. I have boxes full of books just sitting, and three built-in bookcases plus two other bookcases full in my house. This includes a complete Britannica, 11th edition, plus the post-WWI supplement.
  19. This is their only opportunity. There isn't a fast food or coffee spot in the region that isn't currently hiring. Everyone is hurting for workers so they see this as their chance to organize and leverage the fact that they're already there, trained, and can get a job elsewhere in a heartbeat.
  20. You know, it's funny. During the Obama administration the Russians moved into Crimea and essentially just annexed it without nary a peep from the world aside from bloviating in the press. During the Biden administration the Russians appear to be making a move for the entirety of the Ukraine. But when Trump, allegedly a sock puppet controlled entirely by Kremlin kompromat, was in office, Russia did...what, exactly?
  21. I'd move to Buffalo in a heartbeat if I could get a transfer there. I just know where to go hang out, not necessarily live. Everyone is hiring out there, especially in hospitality. Good luck brother!
  22. Considering what Churchill would later say about the attack, it wouldn't surprise me to learn that the British knew and said nothing. Churchill would say that when he laid his head down on 12/07/41, deep in his bones he knew that the war was won.
