    These days you literally don’t even need goalposts. Just two light beams from the ground, extending into infinity. For a league that talks about safety as much as it does, that seems to be a no-brainer.

    I guess it’s like how in baseball if a ball hits the “foul” pole it’s a home run, even if the ball goes back on the field or into foul territory. But if the ball hits the upright and doesn’t go through, it’s a miss, so it’s not remotely the same thing.

    They did, after commercial. I swear it looked wider than that live. And is that the rule? Inside the OUTSIDE edge of the upright? Isn’t that a straight-up doink if it hits? And why can’t there be appropriate laser/camera tech to leave no doubt? I don’t wish injury on any player, but it’s hard to muster up much sympathy for Al-Shaair.
