  1. Who cares about that? Alot of people. Just because we're thin at starting tackle doesn't lessen the importance of people who can come in play if these rookies get hurt. If you have to start rookies at guard, you're real thin at guard.
  2. Here's what's going on with Pete Kendall. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsi...ral-offens.html
  3. Thanks Tim. Trivia-John Henry Johnson ran for over 1000 yds in a 14 game season at age 35.
  4. Here's a pic of the single-bar facemask being worn by the very tough HOF FB John Henry Johnson. http://www.profootballhof.com/hof/member.aspx?PLAYER_ID=106
  5. Thanks for posting all the great pics and info.
  6. The Rex-a-Roarus said this when the Jets hired him... "My dad's considered one of the greatest defensive minds in the league. I'm not there yet," the son said. "But I want to be a better head coach than my dad. I'm not afraid to say it." "I think our fans are part of our defense in particular," he said. "Obviously, they're a part of our whole team, but you can see the value of your fans in how you play defense at home. I bring this up because I'm excited about this opportunity. This is going to be great. This is a great marriage. The style of defense we're going to play with our fans — whoooo, it's going to be rough on people." __________________________________ Full story here. http://www.newyorkjets.com/blog/posts/917-...a-fans-head-on-
  7. What's neat is that its not personal with Ryan (I don't think) which elevates it to a higher level than the Mangini-BB feud and the players will buy into it this time IMO. Ryan is just very matter of fact about it, but extremely confident, about what the J-E-T-S are gonna do. I think they will really beat each other up...good for us!
  8. '2' considers someone a good teammate only if they agree with him. More important than ANYTHING to him is being the center of attention. Following rules does not get him attention, so he causes trouble since that's what it takes. He's messed up personally, I'm not judging him, the evidence does that. Like one columnist said, 'he's built like Tarzan, but he plays like Jane.' No mental toughness, that's why blows up at every little thing. Putting faith in any person who has acted like this for years always leads to disappointment. This is not a team first guy, so realistically can it go well here? People say its only a one year deal. But the wreckage he leaves lasts another year at least. Why, because he turns teammates and an organization against one another. Being a fan since 1964, I hope against hope it goes well here though.
  9. Thanks. I also like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7nxmqFYErc...feature=related
  10. I would guess this was mid to late 70's on Carson. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRduPZvIm08...player_embedded
  11. You're right, that was the best IMO. I'm glad you brought that up, I forgot they were on together.
  12. The thread started out with a Bills fan/Schopp fan getting real upset at Schopps' attitude about having to talk about the Bills. All the non-Schoppers here have stated is that they don't like the guy and some valid reasons why which of course are ignored by Schopps' fans. We accept that. We haven't said you must stop listening to S & B. What I disagree with is Schopp fans telling us Schopps style works. Not for us it doesn't. And you're not going to convince us we need to accept it. Don't assume we want Dennis Williams either. Now his Channel 4 replacement John Murphy did well on the radio obviously. That kinda guy I'd listen to.
  13. There are plenty of sports talk call in shows that get very good ratings without the host being rude and condescending to the listeners/callers.
  14. A smorgasbord Dawg huh?!
  15. What have you liked about the show so far?
  16. I wish I had seen that. Jerry Van Dyke did an amazing job playing Luther V. When 'Luther Van Dam' got mad...watch out!
  17. Is this a fair observation? In the pro vs. con argument, it seems those against Schopp can't stand his attitude towards listeners/callers and others don't seem to mind it.
  18. A good thing I think to for hosts of call in shows like these to keep in mind is a number of listeners and callers are people whom sadly have also had some real bad things happen to them and their families. I am not minimizing what happened, but some folks obviously have had far worse things inflicted on them than what we're discussing... You never know what the person on the other end of the phone is going through or has gone through.
  19. Ok I'll help get your 20. The Monday show on si.com following the first Sunday Night Football game broadcast last season Dan Patrick said this on his webcast... "It felt so good to have makeup on again!" lol
  20. # 1 Controversial opinions backed up with sound reasoning, fine. I have heard Schopp do that sometimes. Be rude to people, condescending, talk ad nauseam about your own uninteresting life; this thread has proven a number of people have tuned out. Now some listeners aren't bothered by S & B. Some people like WGR 55 as it is. I accept that. #2 I didn't say put just any fan on the radio, did I? "I think they are plenty of people who dislike the show that could do a better job than S & B if they entered the field of sports broadcasting." When I said enter the field of sports broadcasting, I didn't mean grab anyone off the street. Obviously some education and training in the field is required. It ain't rocket science but boy if someone set out to learn all they could about the game of hockey and football from some people that have played and/or coached at a high level, one would think it would really improve the level of sports conversation on that show. I had to deal with engineers in my job and not being one, I took every opportunity I could to glean as much info from them as possible. It took awhile but eventually I could talk intelligently about what they did. This is not meant to be a personal shot at either one of them, but I happen to believe that just because S & B are on the air, it doesn't mean they are great at what they do. Some of us think it is a very reasonable request to elevate the show to a higher level. We'll see what happens.
  21. Many us who do or don't listen to that show do many other things this time of year...and all year round. We know the OP liked Schopp. He didn't like his negativity towards covering our NFL team 2 Mondays ago ( I guess it was) especially with the draft ending the day before. To me at least, it seems counter intuitive for the leading sports talk radio station to have a host complaining about covering the team that is the #1 reason people listen to the station. Regarding your last statement... I think they are plenty of people who dislike the show that could do a better job than S & B if they entered the field of sports broadcasting. Like politics though, at all levels of government, some of the best people for the job choose to do something else. And some better broadcasters than S & B could ever be aren't the 'flavor' Entercom wants or perhaps at the price Entercom wants to pay. Too bad, its very within the realm of possibilities they could get a larger audience hence more ad dollars.
  22. John, Others will probably chime in to yay or nay me, but I only recall reading a few posters in this thread saying they were listening when Schopp said what the OP brought up. So I don't think we are disproving our point. I think a fair amount of people will agree this thread is so large because it is not just a few that dislike Schopp's performances. I also think people would listen again if things changed. By the way John, how often do you listen to the show in question? Skip
  23. Ham Sandwich, I think your screen name is causing more wonderful cured meats to be consumed. I don't agree with your criticism of the article, but I give you credit for bringing up these same points to Tim Graham in the 'Ask Tim Graham' thread.
