I agree with this. What if Chan is on the fence with cutting Trent or not? Chan knows what he has in Fitz and likes what he sees in Brohm (who has a higher ceiling) therefor wants to know why Trent was benched last year by 2 coaches. He is giving Trent first team reps and starting preseason games to see how/why he was beached last year and to also see how the team responds to him before he makes any drastic decisions. People look at Trent with first team reps and starting preseason and automatically assume he is #1 on the depth chart, I don't. That would be too cut and dried, I think Chan is up to something as he won't tip his hand, since he has said this is an open QB competition and has not committed to anything yet. I think Trent is the odd man out.

Bills the Pirates of the NFL (new ESPN article)
FreakPop replied to Gabe Northern's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, my bad. I was at work trying to type fast and not get caught and trying to do 10 things at once. The $31 Billion is from the television deals the NFL has negotiated since 1998. That's roughly $1 billion per team over the last 12 years. Why isn't every team spending to the cap every year? That's just tv money, then there is ticket sales, concessions, merchandise, sponsors, etc. This league and it's owners have so much money coming in it's sickening. Then for a team to hold a city and it's fans hostage if, say a new stadium is not built or having the blackout rule is ludicrous. -

From what I have seen the NFL as a whole has received roughly in the neighborhood of $31 BILLION since 1998 through next year 2011. That money alone is enough to pay every player/coach/gm and put money in the owners pocket. The Bills could move to Elmira and they would still get the same amount as if they were in LA from the league. Ticket sales, merchandise, consessions, etc goes into the owners pockets, that's all. Ralph whines and cries because the Jones and Snyders of the NFL are getting more than him, Wwhhaaa. Then for everyone to throw out there they need to be more visable, more marketing (Canada) and not viable enough or they are going to move is a crock. It's just all about making more and more and more money for the "NFL". It's not about competing like they say. Why do you think they still have the blackout rule? Because every ticket sold means more money for the owners. To still have that rule is just a greedy example of how corrupt the NFL has become. -
I've always kind of liked Stupar and now we will be able to see if he can handle a higher work load.

With all that said, he is still better than Edwards. Man, what does that say about Edwards.

Read my op in this thread, it wasn't me who said Chan announced who his #1 QB was. I was just replying to what was said. Maybe you are the one who needs to read from the beginning before posting.

**** Fitz hit Owens in Jacksonville last year with a 98 yarder where the ball traveled 50+ yards and TO was covered and Fitz had all kinds of pressure with guys in his grill. So yeah Fitz and anyone else on an NFL roster could do what Trent did last night.
-
Dude, that was not a rope.
-
Can't find it huh? Just as I thought, someone talking out their arse again. Nowhere has Chan announced who his #1, #2, #3 QBs are yet. Man, where do you people get this crap from?
-
Find it then. Anything i've ever heard was there is an "open competition at the QB spot".
-
Oh don't you worry it's just a matter of time.
-
So when exactly was Trent anointed the starter? If Brohm is better than Fitz, as you say, and all Fitz did was outplay Trent last year, wouldn't that make Brohm a better QB than Trent? After what I seen last night Brohm will be the starter for this team on opening day.
-
Edwards will be cut. He brings nothing more than the other QBs.
-
Give it up albany, Brohm is a way better QB the Trent could ever be and you know it!
-
Brohm looks way more like an NFL QB should look. He made quick decisive decisions, had velocity on all his passes, showed he can make all the throws, short, meduim, long, ins, outs, slants, receiver covered or not. Brohm is a lot better package than Trent. It's not going to be too long before Brohm is the starting QB for the Bills.

Gailey's thoughts on Brohm's strengths
FreakPop replied to bfw1234's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The real morons around here are you people who continue to support a QB who has failed time and time again. Trent will NEVER be a good QB, here me NEVER! -

I agree with you as it is better to wait and see, but on this board stupid people make stupid comments about things they have no clue what they are talking about. That just happens to be most Trent supporters. -
How !@#$ing bad does Trent have to be year in and year out before he is **** canned? We have seen this bad "B" movie replayed too many times the past 2 years, enough is enough. This is ridiculous and arguing with all the clueless Trent apologists is getting old.

Let the Levi Brown experiment begin now!

Nope, Trent is going to be the one shown the door. Mark my words! -
Bill Walsh had confidence in Trent Edwards
FreakPop replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is that so? Hmmmm...... Fitz was 5-4 last year with the same teammates Trent had. Explain to us again how Trent is the best of the bunch! -

FreakPop replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do! and didn't we see this bad "B" movie once already last year? Bad oline this, bad oline that, bad coaching this or that, the bottom line is while compairing Trent to Fitz last year Fitz way way way outperformed Trent with the exact same circumstances surrounding him. Why again is Trent being given another opportunity to prove he is a failure? This is something the "clued in" already know, this movie has already played itself out. -

bbilly is absolutely right. You just don't get it and never will dog. -
So let me see if I understand our QB Situation
FreakPop replied to fansince88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Fitz is a backup at best then that doesn't bode well for Trent. Fitz is a better QB than Trent. No Fitz is not the answer, anyone with half a brain can see that he is light years ahead of Trent. -

Go To Camp and see for Yourself,Edwards is WAY BETTER!
FreakPop replied to Driffill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even though the past coaching staff was horrid, there still should have been glimpses of Trent being functional. Save for a 4 game stretch against weak teams he has not been able to show that. Could the same not be said for JP and the coaches he had? It could be, but most everyone was in agreement that JP was still going to be bad regardless of the coaches he had. Trent is following the same path. I said it more than once, Trents throwing mechanics will NOT allow him to be a good QB at the NFL level, serviceable, maybe, but to excel and be good no way. Then you throw in his other deficiencies like, mentality, fragile, non leader, benched by 2 other coaches and he should not even be considered as starting material. With Chan and his clan seeming to be giving Trent the nod so far, I have to wonder about their competence level. If Trent were to be the starter, IMO he would be replaced before the midpoint of the season and then we all get to play the musical QB game again and the what if game again, especially if Fitz(Brohm, Levi) were able to come in and be 5-4 again like last year. I'm sick of the piss poor decision making going on at 1 Bills Dr.
