  1. You also give yourself the chance to get a fumble and if you get 2 of those per season it's worth every single time they take it out a few yards past the 25.
  2. That was reminiscent of Ben Watson and Champ Bailey. Metcalf will be a locker room hero for that especially if they hold them to 3 here.
  3. A lot of rookies are the worst players at a lot of positions. You invest in a little pain in the present if you think a player can be great in the future.
  4. Is -21.5 the biggest spread ever? I'd be betting the Jets all day long.
  5. Was anyone else really happy for Jerry Hughes on those last couple drives? He's had such a solid career but has been a half second late in a lot of big situations and committed some really bad penalties. Watching him almost singlehandedly shut the door on this game put a smile on my face.
  6. I think this game was the most emotionally under control I've ever seen Josh and it's no coincidence that he was taking every 5-9 yard gain that the defense was surrendering.
  7. Like every position, if you jettisoned every rookie who struggled there'd be nobody to play the position in the league. It does suck to suddenly be shaky at the position when you're angling for the division when we've been solid at kicker on mediocre teams all these years. I expect him to hover around 70% all season and improve next year.
  8. Allen has over 2,000 yards with 16 TDs and 4 INTs over 7 games, plus 3 rushing TDs. I'm not going to freak out that the first 4 games were better than the next 3. I'm going to remember what it was like watching Trent Edwards, Kyle Orton, Tyrod Taylor and Nathan Peterman and be happy that Sundays are worth looking forward to for more than just being a day off work.
  9. Generally I agree but in the case that we do surrender the division, the fewer AFC vs NFC the wins the better especially with that 7th playoff spot.
  10. Raiders losing is a great result for us as they will be in the thick of the wildcard race.
  11. It's another completely fallacious narrative around here, that a team losing badly one week actually makes them MORE dangerous the next week rather than just indicating that they're not good.
  12. Nah he's going to play until the wheels fall off. He might have 3 more years the way he's taken care of himself.
  13. At this point I don't know if it's a given that Newton starts our game. Wow.
  14. The media does such a great job of selling narratives about who can and can't beat whom that it starts to feel like reality. I mean sure, I truly believe that the Chiefs would beat the Jets 99 times out of 100. But the vast majority of games really can go either way.
  15. Our DL is gonna have a bad time if they have anything less than their best game of the season.
  16. The Patriots look just as bad as we looked against the Titans and Chiefs.
  17. I think bettors still remember the drubbing that the 49ers took against the Dolphins.
  18. Back when we started 3-0 I kinda figured we'd go 1-1 against the Raiders and Titans on the road and 1-1 against the Chiefs and Pats at home, with a free Jets win. Turns out the Jets win wasn't so easy but this is still pretty in line with where I expected the team to be. They just need to go beat the Pats.
  19. Front offices tank, coaches and players don't.
  20. 5 minutes left, 30 yards to go and Chiefs with all 3 timeouts. There's no situation where they would have had fewer than 2 minutes. Not to play the what-if game, but I just disagree with the assessment that that was the win right there.
