Saturday Night Bills
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, not sure about primetime but the sun will be down! -
I see. I didn't delve deeply enough into this at first to see that they were exclusively talking about 4th down decisions. I thought they were saying that the net total of all decisions by all coaches was an average of 3/4 of a loss per season per coach. Still though, I think it makes more sense to frame the stat in terms of expected points rather than expected wins/losses. This is one of those rare statistical moments where I think it's inappropriate to consider each event independently of the opposing team. For example I didn't mind McDermott trotting out Bass 6 times against the Jets when we beat them 18-10 but had he done the same against a high powered offense it would have been way too conservative.

I don't really understand how they can say their data yields that the average head coach loses .75 games each year. So if there are 32 teams that means the HCs account for a net -24 wins per season as opposed to...what? Wouldn't it by definition have to be net zero or higher or else the data suggests that the HC position in and of itself is a losing proposition?

Saturday Night Bills

I love the Bills playing on SNF because the whole football watching day culminates in it. MNF is meh, particularly because of the broadcast. Could go my whole life without the Thursday or Saturday nonsense. -

If this has even a small chance of lowering Winters' snaps I love it. -

I think if we get an early lead it'll be game over. Our secondary is trending way up and Lock is among the more mistake prone QBs. -
Oh yeah, I don't doubt that he found some racist stuff at all. Take a large group of people of any ilk and you'll find bad ones. It's the insinuation that Bills fans are somehow more commonly racist than other fan bases and that this excuses his bias against our most prominent white player specifically, and the fact that this makes him comfortable saying how he feels DESPITE ADMITTING THE BIAS that grinds my gears. As for cancel culture, I think the term has become a bit overblown (in the sense that some people will label any critique of behavior as a cancel attempt) but I totally agree that empathy needs to lead the way and that the facile nature of internet commentary makes it too easy to type out a quick hate-filled screed and then drop it. People who never heard the name Jake Fromm took 15 seconds to call him a piece of ***** and then went back to never thinking about Jake Fromm again. It's the least constructive way to approach mutual aid and personal betterment.

Hopefully the next generation of owners will realize just how much money there will be in releasing full profanity-laced game audio. Some of the content on Amazon's All or Nothing is already amazingly entertaining and that's mostly just the teams at practice. -
Social media became big when I was about 19. I'm very thankful it didn't when I was 15 because I'd be scouring old posts and trying to delete them. 15 year olds are pretty much awful (unless they're the types who raise a bunch of younger siblings) and anyone who goes hunting for controversy from someone's adolescence ironically hasn't matured beyond that point.

Maybe it's just because I'm a chatterbox but I'm usually surprised by how little talking seems to happen after most plays.
