Because of Covid, this is the first season in several years where I got to watch each and every game live. It was a saving grace in an otherwise crappy year and I'm thankful to the organization. It's all gravy from here but I also think we have a solid shot of going all the way. Let's go Buffalo!

I guess I'm in the minority here but this upcoming game doesn't make me even a little nervous in anticipation, probably because I'm very certain that as long as Josh is healthy we'll be back at this point pretty much annually. The Colts game made me nervous because I was afraid the streak of first round exits might continue to dog us but if we lose tomorrow I'll be a sad for about a half hour then move on to looking forward to next season.

The notion that they could insert him as a starter in his rookie season, probably before he was ready, and then move on from him after they almost went to the playoffs 2 years ahead of schedule is ridiculous. Obviously he looked limited at times but if Flores had just kept him behind Fitz on the bench this conversation wouldn't be happening.

Lack of pass rush non factor vs ravens?

He's dangerous to the point where you have to concede he'll get his ground yards like other teams must concede that Josh will get his air yards. A key is, when he inevitably escapes, do you hold him to a 15 yard gain or is it a 50 yard TD. The game probably comes to down to red zone efficiency and whomever blinks first on a critical mistake. I think we have a slight advantage on both of those fronts. -
I'm sure the analytics say that it was the right call with something like a 55% or 60% edge. Here's why I think it was wrong - it was an aggressive call that didn't jibe with the rest of Reich's functionally passive strategy. The Colts' strategy was essentially "Possess the ball for 35-40 minutes, score the points we can, maintain a lead and force 1 or 2 critical mistakes." I mean they were literally having Rivers run the play clock down to 0 in the first half. I'd never seen anything like that. And the thing was, up to the point where Reich made that decision their plan was going perfectly. You can't say no to free points when that's your strategy and you have the lead. If they had gone with "Burn the ships and try to outscore them, the odds be damned" going for it obviously would have made sense.

I actually hadn't read your post but it looks like we're saying roughly the same thing. I still have nightmares of Chris Kelsay losing contain lol. -

Yeah, you can maybe find very limited (I'm talking 2 or 3 here) times where extra pressure makes sense but getting edge players up-field of Lamar is drinking poison.
