  1. I think NFL players are mostly trying to go out and do their jobs every day. On a personal level this group is definitely going to have an emotional response to their friend missing the rest of the season and being upset but if anyone is thinking "Man we are cooked without Tre and can't win unless we all band together" I'd be shocked. Half the team probably couldn't tell you we're the 3-seed in the AFC right now. They're involved in the nitty gritty of this week's prep. If anything the DB group is going to be having meetings about what needs to happen now but that's about it.
  2. I see your logic but I disagree. I do think Taron Johnson is probably the player on the roster most capable of filling Tre's shoes but you're still getting 70% of the perimeter CB while suddenly vacating the Nickel CB slot where Taron excels and replacing him with a 70% as good product, creating two problems rather than the one.
  3. After Josh this is the injury we can afford the least. Not only is it our poorest depth position but Tre is also the best player on the team and coincidentally one of the energy/glue guys at the same time. BUT. But it doesn't mean we're cooked, like a lot of you are saying. If the Eagles can rally to win the SB with Nick Foles (Nick Foles!) at QB how can we be eliminated by having to play a backup CB or two? Hurts our chances. Doesn't end them.
  4. Josh will win an MVP or two before he's done but I'd rather he not win it in some war of attrition. If no QB stands out, Jonathan Taylor or Cooper Kupp are fine choices.
  5. Check out Ike Boettger on the Breida TD. He had some rough moments in pass protection but he put 6 points on the board pretty much by himself there.
  6. Watching certain members of our fan base become instantly spoiled after 1.5 seasons as a contender is incredible. I'm honestly like a little kid after every Bills win.
  7. Honestly I think we're waxing poetic about a whole lot of nothing here. The majority of eventual Super Bowl champions have had a stretch for 2 or 3 games during that season where they look bad and the sports media world gets to expound upon why they're done for. The really exceptional squads don't but most do. This particular season, literally every theoretical contender in the AFC has looked like a pretender at one point.
  8. Nobody in the AFC has fewer than 3 losses. It's our turn to look bad but every one of the contenders has taken a turn. We'll rebound and win the division.
  9. This is a close one but I agree that I wouldn't. We need better OG on this team but Josh proves over and over that he can put 35+ points up without them. But a kicker you don't trust in clutch spots? That's just a killer.
  10. It's amazing to me that every week there are 2-3 teams that lose when every reasonable person would pick them to win and yet people act so surprised when it happens and declare the losing team cooked. I bet you could take 90% of the teams that made it to the Championship Games in the last 10 seasons and find a hot take article from some point during that season about whether they were done for.
  11. If we get a couple first quarter TDs we'll run away. Carson Wentz will turn the ball over to our DBs if he needs to make a comeback.
  12. I believe that teams selecting kickers in the draft are ahead of the curve on teams who don't. It used to be a laughable thought, because if only 2 or 3 were getting drafted, why not just get the 4th guy as an UDFA and retain your pick for a different player? The fact is, though, that the difference between the 1st tier of kickers and the 2nd tier of kickers is big. Now that extra points aren't a given anymore, it may be a difference of 15-20 points per season having a Tyler Bass. If you're drafting and you have the thought that the player you're picking in the 6th round is going to provide a differential of 15-20 points per season over what you have now...you take that player every time.
  13. You just don't often see great defenses that can actually stifle the great offenses anymore. That's why last year's SB was so particularly shocking. What I can say about this Bills defense is that they make their opponents struggle to gain yardage and that wasn't true last season.
  14. I mean let's be honest the concept of a "scoring list" that doesn't include the points that QBs produce by throwing for TDs is as dumb as stats get. That said, Tyler Bass is money and it stands to reason that he would surpass all other Bills' kickers.
  15. Good on him. Best thing for the Falcons, too, as they're going nowhere this year anyway and are better off having a WR1 who's right mentally in the long run.
  16. Titans content to not use their 3 timeouts with 34 seconds left and we get the ball back is surprising.
  17. It's true. Throwing a lateral that far across the field is also a huge turnover risk for the first quarter. It was 100% a troll job, just one that might have worked.
  18. For every team in the league, though. This is pretty much every game. NFL needs to do something about it because it slows down momentum in the entertainment aspect of the game.
  19. Being a supporter of a bad sports team isn't misery. This whole thing is supposed to be entertainment, including having the heroes and villains aspect. It's part of the fun, have at it.
  20. Watching these teams just reminds me of the inertia of being bad and how lucky we are as fans that we got McDermott and Allen to jump us out of it. We were in that spin cycle for so long.
  21. When I need to push through something difficult I sometimes think about that Thanksgiving game in 2019 when Josh picked up the botched snap on the QB sneak and muscled through the entire Cowboys DL for a 4 yard gain. Am I a 32 year old man with a 25 year old man as a role model? Maybe.
  22. Sometimes I feel like the T.O. thing was a fever dream I had.
  23. There's no point to be made about how Tyreek Hill and OJ Simpson are worse than Gruden. Literally nobody would disagree with you. It's also got nothing to do with who the Raiders decide to keep in their employ. Just keep building straw men to hide behind while the scary world changes.
