To revisit the whole Gonzalez saga
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep, that is exactly what I said. Tony Gonzales gives his son butterfly kisses on the sidelines. I'm glad you read through the lines. Jesus Christ, how big of an idiot are you? So I'm a wimp because I mention that he has a son? But I'm not going to take too much offense cuz I'm sure you're just some weak 5'2 100 lb. dude who sits behind his computer screen and acts tough. Or maybe you're a big guy with an IQ similar to a block of cheese And the handle is just a pun on my last name, I don't even like the band. Besides, the whole thing about his family isn't even a theory of mine, it was a completley hypothetical situation that I invented as an example of a reasonable explanation for not wanting to play with the Bills. Moron. -
I honestly don't understand the mentality of bandwagon fans or how they manage to even get excited when the team is winning. An ENORMOUS part of what makes winning enjoyable is the memory of the losing. I guess they become "fans" to join their home town's exuberance, but I just don't get how they enjoy the experience of a championship.

So then how could he decline a trade that the Chiefs wanted to make? -
Yea I don't like them either. I do like, on the other hand, the ones circling the top of the upper deck at HSBC arena that the fans made, those are cool.

Denney pass rush question...
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to Shamrock's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm intrigued to see what Ellis can do as well but clearly the coaches know something about the kid that we don't so I'll trust their better judgment. But giving him maybe 5 reps during a game couldnt hurt the team THAT much right? Maybe we'll see him in a blowout situation. -

Ok sorry, my comment about his not wanting to play in the cold is completely asinine. My bad. -
Oh and Eddie Royals 54 yards so far won me my game in my other league too, but I'm just 3-4 in that one.
-
My situation's similar. I'm up by 5 entering the game. He's playing Matt Prater (Broncos kicker) and I'm playing New England defense. So I won to improve to 5-2. Bottomline, I don't blame you. If a game doesn't directly impact the Bills playoff chances (and this one shouldnt) I think fantasy can trump the outcome.

This might sound strange, but I'm perfectly ok with Patriots* 20, Broncos 0. This game just proves to me that the Broncos are as faulty as any team in the AFC. We already know the Pats* are more than beatable, as theyve been throttled by two teams with a combined 5-8 record, so it's sort of comforting to see the Broncos exposing themselves asa mediocre team as well. We can say confidently that the Bills CAN win every game left on their schedule. Honestly, I'd like to play the Steelers or Titans in the regular season to see how we match up with the only two AFC teams that might (just might) be better than us.

To revisit the whole Gonzalez saga

My point is that we have zero idea why TG didn't want to play in Buffalo. Until he gives a reason (which he probably won't), all we can do is postulate and guess. Maybe he actually is a dick who only wants to play in a city that gets first billing on SportsCenter. But maybe it's something perfectly reasonable like his wife and kids didn't want to live here (a very good reason, and I have actually read that he's a family man and that his son sits on the sidelines of all his probowls). Fact is, nobody on this board knows TG, and frankly I doubt we will ever get a solid reason for his rejecting the Buffalo trade, so let's not pass judgment without any facts. -

Why do so many people on this board talk about Gonzalez as if he's a war criminal, just because he didn't want to play in buffalo? Maybe he doesn't like the city. Maybe he doesn't want to play in the cold. His contract has terms for him to block a trade and exercised that privilege. You can't expect 100% of the NFL to love Buffalo and want to play here. TG is a first ballot HOFamer, he's given a lot to the NFL, and if he doesn't want to play in a particular city I'm not going to fault him for that. -
Channel 4 reports the Ballons
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to Hammered a Lot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I heard the problem was caused by 99 luftballoons clearly, the germans were involved...i think they wanted to turn out the lights in the stadium then nab Igor Olshanksy without anybody seeing -
I replied 'yes' to the poll, but I believe Schobel's excellent play in the run defense offsets this fact.

Hey baby, that's a sexy costume, how old are you?

Wow I figured this was another story about people overreacting to something innocent. Then I clicked the link. This is disgusting. It seems like Moms and Dads (especially Dads) would be more interested in not turning their young daughters into sexual objects, but I guess it's more important for them to fit in. -
Vic does Buffalo good again

Very good article, though he seems to think Melvin Fowler being injured could somehow hurt Trent haha. -
For the love of God... could someone please slap...

I don't really see the problem with that one -
Wow great evidence, you've really got me convinced.

And by the way, I consider myself a political liberal, but Mr. Olbermann is a blowhard just like the rest of them.

Keith Olbermann went to college at Cornell. While there, he was a member of the radio station WVBR. On WVBR he invented and hosted a show called Sports Roundup. The show is still around today and I am the current host of it. As part of a campaign to run for sports director at the station next year, I thought a good initiative would be to get in contact with Mr. Olbermann and try to convince him to do a phone-in interview on the show. (WVBR keeps good tabs on all its alumni so finding him wasn't so hard) After a grueling process of having a multitude of conversations with his underlings because apparently he just doesn't like answering phones, I convinced them to put me on with Olbermann himself. This is how the conversation went. Me: Hello Mr. Olbermann, my name is Jay Sage and I'm with WVBR sports. I host Sports Roundup and I was wondering if you could take some time out of your schedule for a short phone interview. The show is Sundays at 7. Keith: I'm going to stop you right there. I bailed you as*holes in 97 with the understanding you wouldn't bother me anymore. If your general manager had you call me, he can go to hell. Then he hung up. What he was referring to was a large donation he gave in 1997 which bailed the station out of some hard financial times. I couldn't believe how much of a complete dick he was to me. It seems Keith has forgotten his roots. ESPN and (to some extent) WVBR made him what he is, and now he is a pure and unadulterated as*hole to both. He can go to hell.

What the hell are you talking about? Ellison did a GREAT job out there. First, he had 6 tackles. Second, he's one of the best coverage linebackers in the game. Last season, he gave up the lowest yards per attempt when the opposing QB threw to the man he had covered. Ever notice how tight ends don't seem to fare very well against us? That is in large part due to Ellison. Where does everybody get it in their heads that he's bad?

Pizza Hut pasta commercial...
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to Beerball's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'd be pretty pissed if I ordered pasta from a nice Italian place and they gave me Pizza Hut. Has anybody seen the new one where they have people in a French bakery and they give them Pizza Hut Chocolate Dunkers? It's so stupid. The Pizza Hut lady says in this ridiculously fake French accent "would you like to try our new French dunkers?" Yep, that's what they eat for dessert in France. Dunkers. -
