Rochester officer shot in head with back turned
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to HelloNewman's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Wow thats is great news, but yeah it will be years upon years upon years of physical therapy before he is ever completely back to normal, IF he is ever completely back to normal. -
Where Does Vince Young Rank...........
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ok, I'll take your word for it. By the way, I'm not trying to be a d*ck in this thread, if that's what I'm coming off as. I just like to debate. And I guess we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one. See, I'm sort of a statistics freak and I think that numbers can be used to prove just about anything in sports (not that the boxscore ever tells the WHOLE story), and when I look at VY's stats, I just don't see a good quarterback. But again, I hope to be proven wrong because he's certainly got the physicality for it. -

He wasn't injured during much of his second season was he? He started 15 games... -

He's certainly capable of improving, but the fact that his rookie campaign was actually better than his second season isn't a positive sign, on top of the fact that he had to spend this past season rehabbing from an injury. You never know how missing a season will affect a player. When you add to the equation his emotional issues, and the fact that he isn't the brightest light on the Xmas tree (6 on the wonderlic on his first try), significant improvement seems doubtful. Though I'd like to see him prove me wrong, he seems like a nice guy. -
You know that the word majority isn't synonymous with the word "all" right?

I hate to sound like a broken record, but I refuse to apologize for not wanting a QB with a 68.8 QB rating who's only gotten worse since his rookie year. -
Yeah, I did not understand why he said that, but everybody makes mistakes I guess. Sometimes it's just best to hold your tongue and not even grant an interview to the media if you're feeling overly frustrated.
-
Well that's how the majority of interceptions occur, and we rarely pressure the QB.

But that's just the thing. Look at his stats, and there is absolutely nothing, nothing at all that you would define as success. He has not one redeeming quality to this point. http://www.nfl.com/players/vinceyoung/profile?id=YOU617196 Those are his career stats, there is nothing impressive besides maybe his rushing yards, but that is negated by the fact that he's fumbled the ball 24 times. http://www.nfl.com/players/vinceyoung/game...amp;season=2007 That's his game log for 2007, and the game log for his rookie season looks largely the same. He has 1 or 2 quality games in there, and nothing really points to any "flashes of greatness". His numbers are comparable to some of the worst QBs in the decade, and (just for good measure) his career QB rating is 8 points below Losman's. He is simply not a good QB, and he won't be until he gets some arm accuracy. -
Yeah, missing one tackle and getting beaten by one of the 5 best WRs in the history of the NFL means he sucks. See my post above about him "not being able to make big plays".

He hasn't been anywhere close to unstoppable since college. That's an insult to Cunningham. Cunningham was a great passer and Vince Young is not. The most important quality a QB can have is being an accurate passer, that's the most important physical tool...miles ahead of speed and arm strength, which are just complimentary. -

Ok bye, don't let the door hit you on the way out. And have fun rooting for the Panthers, they'll be in very good shape if they can draft and develop a new QB. I'm sure it will be such an enriching and fulfilling experience if they win the Superbowl. By the way, you don't get to say that a team is dead to you and then come crawling back later, just for your information. If the Bills make the playoffs in a few years (maybe even next year), I think you've surrendered your right to root for them. -

That's easy to say, but imagine if he had been playing in Buffalo for the last 3 season with similar statistical results. We would have run him out of town soooo long ago. -
Why does everybody think players can be sorted into two categories: Playmakers and non-playmakers. Do you actually think that there are good players who are just categorically unable to make game-changing plays. To most people here, an opposing cornerback or safety could have a ball thrown directly at him and he would be labelled a "gamechanger". If we get an excellent pass rusher, and due to that Whitner returns 2 INTs for TDs next season, does that suddenly put him in the "gamechanger" category? It's just such a non-academic way to look at things.

He is a kid but 14 year olds know the consequences of pointing a gun at a policeman's head and pulling the trigger. He didn't cross the line, he flew 5,000 miles over it. -

He was a pro bowler because idiot fans voted him in. He never looked like a man amongst boys, except for maybe against the Bills. Once in a generation talent? That there is a SERIOUS statement. You're basically saying he is the most physically talented player in the NFL right now, and probably of the decade. No way. 22 TDs and 32 INTs in his career. A career passer rating of 68.8. Career completion percentage of 57. All of those stats are just horrendous. -

And he doesn't even qualify for the Madden curse, because he sucked before he was on the cover. What a pathetic career he's had so far. -

The Bills are no better today
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to BillsVet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Until you provide a statistic that shows me the Bills had a significantly higher YAC rate as a team than the Ravens, that argument holds no weight. And Trent's first 5 games were MUCH superior to Flacco's. Are a QB's numbers down the stretch more important than his statistics at the beginning of the season? Clearly you trust QB rating as a grading system for QBs, and Trent had the higher QB rating this season. His was 85, Flacco's was 80. No bones about it. -
The most recent one. He cuts the face off of the CPR dummy and puts it on his own, like Lecter does to the prison guard in SOTL.

You don't have a leg to stand on, statistically speaking, to back up that statement. How the heck do you KNOW Trent would not have led the Ravens to the playoffs. They got there because of their defense, it doesn't even take a good QB effort. -

SageAgainstTheMachine replied to DERRICK O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ok, looking back at his stats, he never really had a statement season. His first 11 games of 2005 were really good, but that was when he got injured and eventually lost the job to Garrard. Still, he's got a strong arm and a career 54:38 ratio on touchdowns to interceptions. He's more than worthy to backup and compete for the starting job with Trent. If we're looking for a veteran backup, I'd put him on my shortlist. -

Now that's an idea! Talk about a guy that got a raw deal...Leftwich was a top 10 quarterback, then he slipped a little bit and everybody forgot about him. -
Are both Kelsay and Schoebel back?
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to freester's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, Kelsay and Bruce are about on the same level, I would say. -
