  1. Yeah, I definitely think that prayer is benevolent for those doing the praying. I don't have a specific faith but I was definitely saying and thinking "Just let him be ok" that night, even if it was to nobody in particular. The thing that gets me is implying that the prayer worked because the outcome was good. That necessarily means that when the outcome is bad, the prayer didn't work. To me it's a strange way of looking at a world where terrible undeserved things happen every day, that the victims of those things don't have enough cosmic energy on their side or something while others get helped.
  2. So when someone has a cardiac arrest and doesn’t make it, is it in part because there wasn’t enough prayer?
  3. They're dangerous right now. Could see them surprising everyone.
  4. Love a nice Edmunds thread.
  5. I think we give altogether too much credence to the 13 seconds game. Giving up 42 points was an outlier and just credit to Mahomes on a great game. We've played other games against good offenses where the defense did step up and hold them to 20-something.
  6. Ravens are in an unenviable position. They could be hitching their wagon to a guy who can get a team to the playoffs but not through the playoffs, not to mention a runner with inchoate knee issues. On the other hand he wins games and entertains the fans as a transcendent athlete and the fact is that it's risky to not have a plan at QB. You never know when you'll get sucked into a vortex of mediocrity. Look what's happened to Indy after Luck retired.
  7. I think this board is going to be pretty unreadable if we win by fewer than 3 TDs.
  8. If the opposing team got within 7 in a playoff game, you wouldn't be sitting your starters anymore.
  9. I think it's fine that not many drought era players should be remembered in such a way. I feel we're experiencing a weird nostalgia for those days now (lower expecations, more fun?) but it was miserable. That said, the greatest player of that generation was Kyle Williams and his face is also the enduring image of the drought being broken so he belongs.
  10. I disagree. I think you trust that your D gets a stop on Skylar Thompson and then you get leverage on the end-of-half strategy.
  11. We have quite a few of the honorable mention type players - Josh, Diggs, Milano, Poyer, maybe Morse
  12. I can only imagine 13 seconds feels like it was a decade ago to these guys. This season has really been something.
  13. Have you considered a career in meteorology? I ask because I think you have the raw talent to be wrong professionally.
  14. We may not have known about CTE until the last few years but let's be honest - it's always been obvious that head injuries aren't good for your health. This is something we know intuitively on survival instinct.
  15. 62-35 record in those six seasons. If you take the last four seasons after Josh’s rookie year it’s 47-18. Time to add some hardware to the resume.
  16. A trap game in a single elimination tournament?
  17. This offense will begin to thrive when we get CJ Spiller out in space.
  18. I wonder how charitable all the McDaniel fans on this board would be to a rookie Bills HC who lost 5 straight games down the stretch.
  19. Heh, true. But I find it especially funny in sports where the statistics are so conveniently gathered and disbursed for us.
  20. The QB market sets itself due to scarcity. There are realistically about 20 QBs in the NFL that can get a team to the playoffs without a stellar defense and if you don't have one of them then you're on a path to getting yourself and your entire staff fired.
  21. "Well every objective statistic indicates one thing but I, a biased individual, will rely upon my anecdotal experience." It's a solipsism. Every other fan base in the league sees the Bills as a dangerous team. How come the Chiefs can beat the Texans by 3 points in OT but that's not a damningly flawed victory that dooms them to lose in the playoffs?
  22. This sorta turned out to be true. He had a great game by his standards and yet when he HAD to push the ball down the field he made enough mistakes to be the difference in the game.
  23. Not many instances of Brady coughing up 3 INTs in crunch time.
  24. Last year's SB was between two teams that nobody would have included in their field of potential winners at the end of the regular season.
  25. I still don't see how all of these neutral site machinations are a better solution than pushing everything a week back and doing away with the pre-SB off week.
