  1. I think the thing that makes this so terrifying is that it’s a true freak accident with no preventable behavior like head injuries. No Damar Hamlin Rule is coming to make it so a heart won’t stop. Just a memento mori. Gather ye rosebuds.
  2. Could go that way or you could have some traumatized players wondering if they’re going to die when they get hit. I’m not prepared to predict any reactions. Human minds and motivations are complex.
  3. Just saw a really good point - if they announce immediately that the game is postponed, the emergency vehicles now have to deal with prohibitive traffic when seconds count.
  4. Really, I mean…a once in a lifetime freak life threatening injury happens and it has to be the team whose city is getting over a natural disaster.
  5. Saw some YouTube channels peddling “RIP Damar Hamlin” for clicks. As we celebrate the vast majority of people who are acting decently, certain others are below pond scum.
  6. I tend not to think of owners too much when it comes to franchise character unless they’re beyond the pale like Snyder, just because…good luck finding a billionaire with no skeletons.
  7. I was waking up every couple hours and bracing myself for grim news whenI checked my phone.
  8. Everyone involved with the Bengals showed utter class last night, including the fans who applauded the devastated Bills as they left the field. Regardless of what you think the NFL was intending to do at the time I’ve got huge respect for Zac Taylor finding Sean McDermott and telling him he’d agree to whatever the Bills wanted to do. There were multiple reports of Joe Burrow and other Bengals players joining the Bills in their locker room for support. All of this, of course, amounts to basic human decency, but decency doesn’t always get prioritized when there’s competition on the line and when there’s a stressful unprecedented situation. It’s very cool to me that, ever since 2017, these two teams and fan bases feel bonded over good will.
  9. It’s one of the ways people are praying, putting resources into something Damar Hamlin cares about. Maybe there’s an irrationality to it but it’s about emotion. People have to put their emotions somewhere. Who cares about how the money is processed right now?
  10. I don't think we'll know anything further tonight. Best in mental health to those who stay tuned in. Prayers up for Damar as he fights.
  11. I think about this stuff a lot. We try to control our worlds but the dominoes fall as they will and we can only hope for the best.
  12. Props to the ESPN broadcasters for their candor that it’s unconscionable to continue. Forces the NFL’s hand to acknowledge that.
  13. Praying for Tee Higgins as well. A brutal thing to happen to him on a routine play.
  14. The Fins do not have a strong defense. They have some recognizable names but they give up a ton of points and yards.
  15. I 100% believe that if Hyde returns we either will or won’t win the Super Bowl, and if he doesn’t return we either will or won’t win the Super Bowl. Will take any bets on this.
  16. Screen passes are deceptive and therefore immoral. I couldn't be prouder of our squad for not using them.
  17. Yep. You don’t reach players by being an egocentric ass and expecting “Sir yes sir” anymore. The good modern coaches are about building up trust and love.
  18. It’s not so irrational when the front office expected him to be a #2 as well. The team had no acquisitions at outside WR in the draft or FA. Again, I think he’s a good player but he absolutely had a chance to make his mark on the league with the targets he’s getting.
  19. It's not even really a "down year". Statistically he's already set or matched personal records for yardage, TDs, targets, receptions, first downs, longest reception, etc. It's more that we may need more than what he offers as a WR2. Josh needs the same quality of WR tandem that the Eagles, Bengals and Dolphins have.
  20. Bass is the man. Risky move for a GM because if you spend any draft capital on a K it needs to work out. Gabe was also a really good value pick in the 4th even though we’re all a little disappointed he didn’t blossom into a pro bowler this year.
  21. Doesn’t matter. We’re both 12-3 and they’re giving the edge to the QB who’s been to the SB multiple times and has a ring. If the Bills go all the way they’ll get the same benefit of the doubt.
