  1. Don't quote me on this, but I believe it's "Taxed Enough Already"?
  2. I like it. In fact, I think the players should spend an entire day off from team meetings, studying playbooks, and everything football related. People just operate better when things aren't omnipresent.
  3. People have an emotional connection with the Bills, so their successes or failures are bound to lead to an emotional reaction. Me? I prefer to approach the whole thing with a sense of humor. I don't, however, begrudge anybody their right to complain. To the OP, maybe try to understand why people react the way they do instead of demanding optimism? "Life is a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those who think." ^^ Which is why sports are great...because it's always a little bit of both.
  4. Haha yep, there's a late night metal show at my radio station called Last Exit for the Lost. I love to tease them about how the biggest fruit in rock history (in a tie with Sir Reginald Dwight) invented their genre. I've worn out my Queen LP's enough to know all the little secrets. To me, the best moment of SHA is the seamless transitions between Tenement Funster, Flick of the Wrist (perhaps Queen's darkest song) and Lily of the Valley. Back in the days when there was artistic cogency in the creation of an album, rather than the laboratory production of two catchy singles tossed into a leafy bed of filler crap. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjc0IjyqrGQ
  5. Mercury was known as a quiet and reserved person, so wouldn't his rock god personality be a spectacle, by definition? Oh well, it's all semantics. Best thing to do is listen to the tunes...I'm gonna throw on Sheer Heart Attack when I DJ later today.
  6. Or XTC and Britney Spears...remember that guy? Oh and I was about to do a mea culpa for hijacking the thread into a music thing, but then I realized how retarded it was to begin with so I figured it's all good.
  7. Not so much. Image and spectacle have always played a role in deciding what becomes mainstream. Queen is probably my favorite band of the 70's, but it's funny that you should mention them and then decry the role of spectacle. Freddie's on stage persona was just as big as his talent. The difference between Spears and Gaga is that you can close your eyes and still enjoy Lady Gaga's music. Same can't be said for Britney.
  8. I'm generally not a fan of pop music, but those two shouldn't be lumped together. Just sayin.
  9. Just goes to show what you can accomplish when you apply yourself.
  10. Hmmm. 32 years old and severely out of shape. Just browsing his wikipedia article and 4 of the headlines are... "Boat Cruise Scandal" "Pro Bowl Incident" "2005 Gas Station Incident" "2008 Night Club Incident" That's a ton of red flags.
  11. Then again, it's not a playing weight that he should grow accustomed to. When Dareus is 27 instead of 21, 343 pounds is gonna be a lot more of a hassle. I suspect he'd operate better in t he 320 range for the long term. Totally agreed though. I'm very optimistic about our DL this year. I think our run defense is gonna go from worst to average, which will have a big ripple effect on the team's success.
  12. So long as it doesn't affect his agility.
  13. Ideally Kelsay would be moved to the bench. If he must play anywhere though, it has to be OLB. You really wanna see this guy trying to chase down RBs and TEs?
  14. Can this please go on Moss' Hall of Fame plaque?
  15. Now, I don't play Madden very often so I might be missing something. But how does Fitzpatrick have an 82 in the Awareness category? Isn't his reputation as a guy whose supreme ability to process the game makes up for a lack of natural talent?
  16. I guess I'm in the minority here based on the thread, but even with full effort throughout his career I think Moss is 2nd to Rice. Let's not forget that Moss put together some absolutely monstrous seasons in Minnesota and New England and he STILL ranks a full 8,000 yards, 44 touchdowns, 600 receptions, and 3 Superbowl Rings behind Rice. Those aren't gaps, they're chasms. Moss would have needed 8 more seasons of work to even approach those numbers, so I don't think it's just a matter of effort. Rice was just hands down the best ever.
  17. Probably the 2nd greatest receiver of all time, and the most dangerous vertical threat.
  18. I applaud your passion, but aren't there causes more worthy of it? Regarding ESPN, they pander to their biggest markets and it's been that way forever. If you must protest, why not do it by just taking your business elsewhere?
  19. I guess I wouldn't complain if this happened, but if the Bills are stacked at any one position it's WR.
  20. I'm not a fan of Plaxico either, but you really think he should still be in prison? Statistically speaking, driving drunk is a hell of a lot more dangerous than carrying a gun around and the typical punishment there is a 2-game suspension and a fine. I'd say Burress got levied a big punishment for his mistake. Andre Johnson says hi. At the time of his arrest, Burress was averaging about 45 YPG for the '08 season. I predict he'll be a nice red-zone target for Sanchez but not much more.
  21. Really? I'd say the team bottomed out in the beginning of last season and then started making gigantic steps of improvement (disregarding the brian brohm experiment at the end). Give me one reason why the Bills would be any worse in their 2011 campaign than last year. Thus far, the only big change from last year is subtracting Poz from the Front 7 and adding Dareus. My personal prediction is 7-9. Maybe that's optimistic, but I'm just really curious as to why you think a winless season is a distinct possibility.
  22. With all due respect to Lost (great show), the folks on Breaking Bad are characterized in a much more eloquent way and therefore the fans are privy to more of an emotional basis for insight. Every facial expression, every syllable of speech can be examined under the microscope...and that's a testament to the writing, but even more so the acting (Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Giancarlo Esposito and Dean Norris in particular). By the way, I think I may be developing an unhealthy fixation on Breaking Bad (an addiction perhaps?). For a brief moment today (maybe 5 minutes) I thought it was Friday instead of Thursday. The moment that I realized my error, my first thought was "Dammit! The new episode of Breaking Bad is three days from now, and not two days."
