Washington @ Philadelphia - NFC Championship Game thread
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
It takes a pretty clutch throw from the punter is the big thing. You could run a lot of those with successful X’s and O’s but where the execution fails. -

That’s not how probability works. You just need to go 1 for 1 at that point not 3 for 3. -

That was my comment yesterday, that Brady called the second half of the game as though we needed to steal one with Trubisky playing, outlasting the Ravens rather than burying them.- 79 replies

I’m not necessarily saying Taron hasn’t lost a step. Everyone does with age. But damn, there are so many threads pointing out supposed individual deficiencies right now when this TEAM is two wins away from being heroes of the city. I guess it’s anxiety and needing to pass the time, but honestly a snapshot of the topics on this board would make me assume the last game was a regular season loss.

Dalton Kincaid- why so underwhelming this season?
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
In a game with 22 total pass attempts we don’t need a thread about every single player that didn’t have many targets. It applies to everyone but Shakir. This isn’t fantasy football. -
Personally I think his job was secure anyway. If you’re the Pegulas who also own a team in the midst of an embarrassing playoff drought, are you ever considering firing the HCwho’s delivered the playoffs 7 out of 8 years?

Lopsided Ravens - Bills Box scores

That 3rd & 5 screen to Dawson Knox made me want to puke. Whatever BS Brady was on today needs to get fixed quick. -
In a game where the refs mostly pocketed their flags it’s super puzzling that that one got called. Dion won that hand fight like a damn ninja.

I always think it’s funny how turnovers are treated like they’re just a random thing that happens instead of the result of skill and decision making. Lamar’s INT was an ill advised throw with even worse execution. On the fumble he tried being heroic instead of going to the ground. Bernard made one of the better punches at a ball that I’ve seen.

Lets talk complementary football and the 2nd half
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to appoo's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don’t think Brady called a game that accounted for the fact that he has the best player in the NFL. Josh hit Shakir on that huge 3rd and 8 on the opening possession and then didn’t go downfield again except for the DPI against Coleman. -
That FG Decision by McDermott
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was already praising the decision regardless of the outcome personally. -
Throwing to the boundary just wasn’t a thing today for some reason. Coleman and Hollins were also barely glanced at. We’ll need everyone against KC…

11/11 on kicks in these playoffs, albeit only one kick over the length of an XP. -
That FG Decision by McDermott

For the record, I think the opposite holds true if it’s the exact same decision next week. Mahomes in KC, that’s a dragon you slay. -
That FG Decision by McDermott
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’d say part of the decision is that you make your opponent play mistake free in slippery conditions. Andrews paid off the strategy, just like any other Raven might have during that drive. -

Was the best and most important call of his career. Everybody loves this unrelenting aggression on 4th down and McD shows a ton of it, arguably the second most after Dan Campbell. There’s also the common sense inclination that you let your best player win the game. But the strategy of this game comes down to probability even when it’s boring. Make your opponent be perfect. You go up by 8 points, make them score the TD AND the 2 point conversion AND stop your final drive afterward. Worst case scenario you take it to OT and accept your 50/50 odds there. It’s like making a big fold at a poker tournament with your two pair on a board with straights and flushes possible. Not fun, but right. He made that decision with an entire city, many of whom hate him, watching over his shoulder. Well done, coach.

Divisional Round, Ravens v. Bills, GAME BALLS!
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Revenge of the whipping boys. Sean McDermott made the right decision in kicking that FG. In the face of an NFL that wants unrelenting aggression he went with probability. He gets my game ball. Also, Terrel Bernard has had a difficult season and then made the most important play so far. How about Tyler Bass 11/11 in the playoffs including a 51 yarder in the snow in a game decided by 2 points?
