  1. Why did this get merged and buried in this thread? This has nothing to do with McAfee show. Mods have a tough job, I get it and appreciate the work, but not everything needs to be merged into one mega thread. This was a totally different topic and its a shame its not gonna get seen more because it was comedy gold.
  2. Dude, you are so hung up on exaggerating and misquoting what I said. I was clearly referencing some of the years where the Pats roster was not that great and they still had tremendous success and even won SB. I didn't say all coaches would have struggled to make playoffs with Brady for 20 years. You literally have never once answered my question. What legacy does Bill Walsh have if he had Mac Jones instead of Joe Montana? You are the one totally down playing BB resume based on how he fared without Brady while totally refusing to acknowledge how poor the QB's were that he had when he didnt have Brady. Its not like prior to NE he had a sub .500 record while he had a good QB.
  3. Not sure if you guys have seen but legendary comedian Daniel Tosh is back with a new podcast/show on YouTube and where ever you listen to Podcasts. Its actually a great show and has like 6 episodes out now where he interviews normal people and doesn't want to interview celebrities. First guest was his wifes gyno and it was hilarious and recommend watching it and all of them actually. Anyway, he just put out a special no guest special short episode today to address the Aaron Rodgers stuff and its utterly hilarious! My wife and I were dying, she is a die hard Niner fan and hates Rodgers haha. Also, if you don't already know, Danial Tosh is a big Dolphins fan which is where this is coming from. This is about 8 min and is hilarious, even the fun jabs he has with Bills and Pats in the early parts were funny. But its mostly a FU to Rodgers and the Jets hahaha. ENJOY!
  4. I mean I wouldn't say all Cassels given Joe Theisman is an NFL MVP. And the other 2 years they won, Rypien and Doug balled out in the playoffs. But I do think Gibbs needs more love as an all time great HC than he gets. Tomlin is overrated. You guys think McD pisses you off with in game bone head decisions, go watch Steelers games. Tomlin is notorious for stupid decisions. Who I would choose as a HC is highly dependent on the full roster makeup. If I got a lot of offensive pieces outside the QB and a marginal or worse D, then the offensive HC likely makes the biggest impact right away and can scheme around the strengths and weaknesses of the offense. If the defense is the strength of the team, then a defensive HC to maximize that strength makes more sense for immediate success. But I would take BB over any of the available candidates. 100 times over Tomlin...he doesn't belong in any convo with BB. Reid is seen as this great mastermind now...but why? Because of Mahomes. He had McNabb who has a HOF case regardless if anyone thinks its strong enough or not strong enough. Yet no SB's despite 5 straight NFC championship games. The fact you mention Reid now that he has elevated his status on the back of Mahomes says everything about why a HC and his legacy is tied to his QB.
  5. What is Bill Walsh without Joe Montana? Have you looked at who the other QB's were that he worked with outside of Brady? Show me what HC has a winning record with those losers. Second, if you think the Pats had a stacked roster all 20 years that Brady was there then you are kidding yourself. Brees is a top 10 QB all time and he struggled to make the playoffs several years because just having an all time great QB doesn't just mean you are a playoff lock of SB lock. I get the bias hatred for BB around here, but literally you, nor anyone else, has yet to make a single point that wouldn't ALSO discredit every other all time great HC by taking away his QB. Sorry...no HC is above .500 with the QB's he had outside Brady. And no HC in the HOF has the same career if they had Mac Jones level QB's to work with their whole career. And more importantly, they won SB's back when Brady was a game manager too, in fact that was there most dominant dynasty run with 3 SB wins in 4 years. Like there is no logical argument to discredit BB and his accomplishments. Now I need to go take shower to watch the ick off me after people here made me defend BB.
  6. Every HC is a sub .500 HC with the losers BB had before and after Brady. Why is this point so hard to grasp? There are not great HC's who had HOF resumes with Mac Jones level QB's. This idea that you want to discredit BB accomplishments because of his QB means you need to do the same for Bill Walsh, Jimmy Johnson, etc. Even Andy Reid was "overrated" and a "choker" after he left Philly going to the NFCCG 5 times to only reach a SB once and lose. Now he is "the greatest offensive mind ever" and one of the "GOATS" - Why? Because he has the next GOAT in Mahomes. Sorry...there is no case to discredit BB that you can't also apply to every other great HC of all time who had multiple SB wins and sustained success like BB had...well no one has ever had the resume BB has, so we will just say sustained success.
  7. Why is that only applied to BB though? Where are the list of HC's winning multiple Super Bowls with the Matt Cassels of the world?
  8. But what is Bill Walsh legacy if he doesnt have Montana and has a series of scrubs at QB? I mean this is a silly notion...QB is the most important position in all of team sports, of course a HC needs a QB to have sustained high level success. What BB did over and over in NE with rosters that most coaches would have struggled to get into the playoffs let alone make 9 SB's winning 6 is astonishing and may never happen again. He still won 11 games with a QB who literally had not started a game since high school. BB may be hated, be he gets his flowers as a HC and is without question one of the GOAT's if not the GOAT.
  9. I mean this is true for any great HC in history. Never seen a great HC have a long and great career without a QB. Why people want to discredit BB solely is always puzzling to me. Jimmy Johnson was sensational in Dallas and was so meh in Miami that people barely remember he coached there. Andy Ried was a "choker" in Philly and now an all time great with Mahomes. The list like this is miles long. In very rare circumstances, you can win a SB with a sub par QB if the rest of the team is elite like the Ravens did with Dilfer. But sustained success and multiple SB wins like BB has is only accomplished if he has a QB. Many great coaches have been just ok, pedestrian, forgettable, or outright bad when they no longer had a QB either because the QB retired or the coach was now coaching elsewhere.
  10. THIS. Really don’t see the point of the OP here. Once it’s snapped it’s always better to heave the ball down field if you don’t have a way to convert and hope our guys downfield make a play or if not, maybe they DB will be dumb enough to intercept it.
  11. I think there is a chance Rasul plays considering he felt he could have kept playing last week...but if he doesn't then this is an ideal game for him to miss. Weather will slow the game down and the other DB's will be fine, plus the Steelers are scaring no one throwing the ball anyway. Dawkins kept playing last week, so I assume he plays this week. Rest seem more about rest days, were full participants, or are guys who we can win this game without.
  12. All good, and respect you too. But if you read my post, I made the case for Shakir, not Sherfield to get more targets if Davis misses time. As far as my opinion of Sherfield, well I have followed his career since SF. He was buried there behind Deebo and Aiyuk and actually outplayed both but still sat because they had too much invested draft capital wise and wanted to see what they could do. Then in Miami, they bring in Hill after he signs there and again gets buried but still manages to be the 3rd guy and have a solid season. Then he arrives in Buffalo and gets stuck behind Diggs and Davis while also being even more buried for targets with us drafting Kincaid, having Shakir, Knox and Cook too. So for me, I have seen potential in him and think he has had some bad luck of getting stuck behind a lot talent and no one really having enough invested in him to elevate him and get the same opportunities. But I also do NOT think he has a lot of timing and rapport with Allen right now, and the lack of targets and reps are certainly a big factor of that. Another reason why I think Shakir needs to be the one who sees more targets. I don't know how good or bad Trent would be in a more regular role, but I think there is potential in there and given Gabe most often puts up 0-3 catches, I think he could at the very least hit those kinds of marks if he had to play more. But again, Shakir is my guy. I think he needs to be a staple of the offense. Yeah, this is really what I struggle with Davis with too. On one hand, it is great he run blocks...but its disturbing that nearly 40% of Allens INT have come throwing to Davis as well as how often he contributes almost nothing offensively beyond blocking. He is a WR2 but the stat sheet reads more like a low level TE on a week to week basis with an occasional big game. His "Big Game Gabe" nickname is more ironic than accurate as he has so few big games on his resume in either the reg season or post season. I just don't like the all or nothing kind of stat line for him, especially the "nothing" is the much more common occurrence.
  13. I don't find this critique all that fair TBH. People love to say this without acknowledging the fact that since Allen developed, this team is picking late in the draft every year. And some of the drafts were pretty weak classes too. "True Difference Makers" are not just robustly throughout every draft, they are a rare player and drafting late or weak draft classes where there are fewer makes it that much harder to find and develop one. Yet Beane still has found guys that are difference makers like Allen, Oliver, Diggs (traded for, but still brought here by Beane), Bernard, and looking like Cook, Kincaid, and Torrance will potentially be in that class at some point too. On top of that...Beane IMHO has one of the best resumes in the NFL in all the critical phases of being a GM: - Drafting: His draft record is one of the best in the NFL without question - Free Agency: He has given a master class on finding value and quality pieces for this roster and also knowing when to let our own Free Agents walk vs resigning - Player Retention: He has continuously found ways to keep guys we want to keep, even when it seemed highly unlikely like Milano, and on mostly reasonable or team friendly deals. And when he cant get them on those deals, they walk and he brings them back later even cheaper like Shaq, Phillips, and Poyer - Cap Management: He honestly might be the best GM in the NFL in terms of cap management and contracts, definitely top 3 at least - Roster Building: He tore down a doormat team and rebuilt it in 2 seasons into what is now a perennial contender and has continued to navigate free agency, the cap, etc to keep this team at the top of the AFC even as big extensions like Allens have impacted the cap So for me, I don't know what else he could have done in the hasn't found enough "true difference makers" conversation considering where we have been drafting, but he has also brought more in than I think he gets credit for.
  14. Buy - Shakir - This is the kind of game someone like him can be a huge help to Josh. Davis brings nothing to the short to mid pass attack in terms of consistency, separation, etc. Diggs will get extra attention. SHAKIR SHAKIR SHAKIR - Feed the kid the ball like his name was Beasley. Sell - Cook - I think this is the kind of game where we have lost before because we didn’t have a physical run game. And this is why they brought in Harris originally and then Fournette once Harris was lost. Cook will still get touches, but I think we will see “Playoff Lenny” start to emerge this week in terms of being more of a true split with Cook and could lean on him in the 2nd half to wear down Pitt and help protect the ball. Hold - Joe Brady - This will be a big test for Brady and how he adopts to this kind of weather in a big moment. His predecessor crapped the bed in a similar style game last year. While I believe and expect Brady to fare better based on having established a more successful run game and facing a lesser foe, it’s still his first playoff game and probably the worst weather he’s had to call a game in so far.
  15. I can see the TSW meltdown now…Bills lose to Steelers - then fire McD - then hire BB. This board would crash lol Good thing we gonna smash Steelers and go on to win the SB
  16. Congrats, mine came last May and he is almost 8 months now. Its the absolute best! TIRING but the best and totally worth it!
  17. They explained the noise in the movie. You might have missed that, but they did explain it. You can DM me if you want so I don’t do spoilers here
  18. If I am being honest about that play, Josh delivered the ball a little behind Johnson whereas had he led him more he could have had a better shot at diving for the score before the impact. Johnson had to turn all the way back towards the LOS to make that catch and then turn back towards the endzone at which time he was immediately hit. Not sure he scores either way, but he definitely would have had a little better chance had he not have had to turn back for the ball and caught it in front on him so he could make the dive.
  19. I found the movie interesting as well. Its not everyones taste...with society having such short attention spans now, a lot of people don't like things unless stuff is blowing up everywhere and non stop action. But I do enjoy when movies kind of bring you along through a movie creating a tone, vibe, experience etc. I didn't love the ending, but I also didn't hate it either as it was at least pretty clear to what happened and what was gonna happen next unlike the Sopranos where they just left everything open to interpretation by the viewer. Although admittedly I initially hated the Sopranos ending the moment it happened, I later came to appreciate it, especially when I watched it through a second time. Im actually about to start it over for a 3rd time since my wife has never seen it, so excited to do that as I watched it again during COVID and enjoyed it as much as I did the first time.
  20. As I mentioned earlier, I think the end of year vote weighs too much on recency bias with the end games and overlooks the bulk of the season. Here is a thread about some alternate ideas on how to handle the MVP race
  21. I totally agree with the others like Stephen A Smith, but I find Pat much more fun, authentic, straight shooter. Skip and all those other fools are all just fake laughs, fake rage, scripted arguments, and beyond stupid takes for the sake or creating "he said what" moments and bickering. Pat and the crew just are more straight shooters and talk sports like we talk sports with friends kind of dudes. At least for me, but like anything, everyone has their own tastes and opinions.
  22. You don't like Pat? I feel like him and a few others like Eisner are the only ones worth watching or listening to anymore.
  23. DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT A THREAD TO DEBATE THE MVP AND WHO IT SHOULD BE. It is about is there a better way to conduct voting than just one vote at the end of the year. MVP voting is entirely too reliant on RECENCY BIAS and also heavily favors QB's. Games down the stretch too strongly sway votes. Not saying there isn't extra value in coming up big in say big games late in the season, because there is, but its too skewed to right now where voting is too impacted by the most recent games. For example - Lamar is the clear front runner to win because him and the Ravens had their 2 best games down the stretch beating the Niners and Miami (1 seed NFC and then 2 seed AFC) decisively in back to back weeks. They got hot at the right time, especially to help Lamar's MVP case even though the rest of the season wasn't as good as he was in those 2 games. On the flip side, Lamars big 2 weeks started against both Purdy and McCaffrey who had their own MVP cases but both are completely out of the race even though you can make a case that both Purdy and McCaffrey had better seasons than Lamar. Had this game took place say week 3, then Purdy and CMC might very well be in the thick of the race as would potentially other players considering Lamars overall season wasn't as good as his final 2 games played. So here is what I think would be a better way to do this: Season long MVP voting or scoring system Rather than have voters wait until the season ends to vote where the only thing fresh in their minds are the most recent showings, they should award points to candidates as the season progresses. I have 2 different ideas on how to do this...one pretty simple and straight forward, and one little more complex and interesting. First and simplest one: Vote for MVP every week starting after week 4. Only the players receiving top 10 votes receiver points Each player receiving votes will recieve points based on that vote. First place votes are worth 10, amount, 2nd place 9, and so on. Recognizing that late season games often are more important, have more at stake, more pressure etc as teams jockey for playoffs and seeding, you can weight the scoring on those weeks a little higher. Starting week 15 votes carry increased value - say something from 125% to 150% scoring value. Alternate - Maybe only the last vote carries more value say double points (200%) All votes remain sealed until the end of the season, so no one knows where the votes are to avoid influencing late season voting. Player who accumulates the most points from the voting process by season end will be MVP. In the event of a tie then CO-MVP's or let the NFL players vote amongst the tied players and person with most votes wins. NOTE: If you still want some additional weight or value for late season votes where maybe the games are bigger and more important Second one: Season long scoring system where you score the players every 3 weeks (6 times). Each voter lists their top 10 players of that 3 week period who were at an MVP level. They then score each player based on their performances. This would probably include some fixed scoring and opinion based scoring Fixed scoring examples: Win = 1 point, 0 points for a loss, .5 points for big game in a losing effort Opinion scoring example: MVP Score per game - 0.0 to 3.0 based on how you feel they played each game. Huge game maybe its a 2.9 or 3.0. Slow first half but big second half maybe its 2.2. Maybe that second half included some critical game winning play and that gets bumped up to a 2.4 or 2.6 for example. You can make the scoring as simple as this or as complex as you want with lots of scoring categories. But at the end of the day, what really matters is that there is a season long tally that will help determine who had the best season and should be the MVP of the league. Again, these scores remain sealed until the end of the season so voters don't feel compelled to try and sway voting in any one period. At the end of the season, the players finish the MVP race based on total scoring. In the event of a tie, you the NFL players vote on the tied finalist with most votes being MVP or you could simply have Co-MVPs in a tie as well. Personally, this would be better than just asking a bunch of voters to vote once the season is over where recency bias weighs to heavy. Plus, with a fair scoring system, this might actually give players OTHER than QB's a better chance to win MVP.
