How many of y'all drafted Shakir as your FF sleeper?
Alphadawg7 replied to appoo's topic in The Stadium Wall
Alright...just finished my most expensive annual league we have been doing for 25 years. I landed Shakir in round 12, I had actually planned on taking him a little earlier, but when I realized that the guys in my league seemed less prepared than normal leaning more on "names" than upside younger guys, I thought I can probably wait a little bit longer. Funny, I actually ended up with more Bills than I intended to, but kept getting such good value on them and there was no one else I felt as good about at each spot I got them. I got Allen (3rd round) and Kincaid (5th round). I was pretty happy with that even though I generally don't like going QB early, but QB's score more in this league than most, so having a top end QB is sizable advantage. And there had been a run on TE's and luckily Kelce, LaPorta, Andrews, and McBride went first. With Kittle and Kincaid still there, I just couldn't pass on Kincaids upside. Took a late round flier on Davis too when there wasn't much left on the board. The other guy I got was Coleman, which I had not intended on taking after landing Kincaid and still targeting Shakir later. But the few guys I was looking went just before my pick and Colemans value there in the 10th round was too high to just pass up for some middling vet I probably wouldn't play over starters anyway or rookies with lower upsides this season based on expected roles and volume of targets. So went with his upside and figured 2 late picks in 10th and 12th were a bargain to insure I landed whoever is likely to emerge as the top WR for Allen this year. -
Who’s stock is up after today’s game? Who’s stock went down?
Alphadawg7 replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
You know, you may be right. Admittedly, I had a lot going on during the game with a fantasy draft going on and also my in-laws here, so only caught plays here and there throughout and caught a couple bad ones that maybe I prematurely reacted too harshly on. I loved his film last week, so came in maybe with too much interest in him this week to where my reaction to a couple bad plays were maybe magnified a bit. So to be fair to him, I will wait until I get to rewatch it with more focus until I judge this weeks performance. -

SVPG, Gore, Evans, Cain, and Jackson I felt all played well to very good. I caught some bad plays by Anderseen, but also wasn't able to focus on the whole game with a draft going on and my in-laws also here, so will look forward to watching more of his game when I sit down to rewatch the full game. SVPG is a lock for the roster IMHO, I think he has played well all preseason...the others not so much. I think their chances for the 53 are going to come down to how many they keep at other positions. With Davis, Cook, and Ty at RB its hard to keep a 4th unless they are considered valuable ST players or they have an extra spot because they didn't go as deep somewhere else. So will be interesting to see if they keep one of them. And with the receivers, its more will they keep 5 or 6 guys unless MVS becomes a surprise cut (and personally it wouldn't be that big of a surprise given all the drops in camp and preseason). -
Boxer would get smashed by a grappler almost every time. They have no defense for it, once on the ground they have neither defense or offense, they are completely neutralized and the grappler can end it however they want.

Receivers the Bills could go after?
Alphadawg7 replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
All good...without directly hearing what they exactly said, I can't speculate what they intended to communicate. So I am just going off what I hear and see out of camp and on the field. I liked the Keon pick, but don't think he is a slam dunk either. But whiles its just been camp, I have really liked what has been reported about him thus far and think he is coming along just fine for this time of year. I think where you and I differ is I feel less pressure for Keon to be a good as I think you feel he needs to be early. I think Kincaid, Shakir, and Samuel along with the run game and Allens legs gives the offense enough juice in my personal opinion to where Keon can grow into the roll. Now if those guys are struggling, then yeah, I can see the need for Keon to become a bigger part of the offense earlier, I just happen to be bullish on both Kincaid and Shakir. -

I get that, but I just think you got triggered on something that was either a misunderstanding or just not accurate given Keon has shown no signs of being behind where they want him to be or losing ground to say Hollins. All good...just think while the jury is still out on how he, or any of them, will do this season it is still safe to say Keon isn't likely behind Hollins and never was based on what the coaches have said and done on the field. I do expect Hollins to have a role on this team this year, more of one than say Sherfield did last year as they do love his ability to block as well. -

Would love to see someone emerge and spares us from an MVS drop clinic this season that makes Gabe Davis jealous -
Receivers the Bills could go after?
Alphadawg7 replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ok, I have a clear understanding now of what your position is. And hey, no issue with any of your doubt or skepticism given he still hasn't played a snap yet in a real game. But...there is still no evidence he is playing behind Hollins or losing reps to him. In fact, literally all evidence shows that to be inaccurate. Keon has taken every one of his reps with the first team offense since day 1. He stared both games including the one Hollins played in. Hollins has not exclusively been with the ones, he has gotten some reps there for sure, but that is to be expected given he has no experience with Allen and will have a role on the team. That is where my hangup is on your theory...this insistence, despite your own statement that you don't know that its true, that he is either behind Hollins or losing reps to him even though there is no real evidence to support this. -

Ok so you say this... Then you say this as if that is not very specifically about Keon? No disrespect, I am not seeing how that is not directly about the them selecting Keon as their failure you are alluding too. Totally get and accept you also think the overall management was a failure, but still its being presented to be specifically about Keon being a failure of a selection in your eyes. And you are still tying that "failure" to something that does not appear to be true. -

I am not saying he does not also believe that, and he probably does based on some of his other shared thoughts, which is fair for him or anyone to have given we still haven't seen this group play on a real game yet. But this line of dialogue the poster was referencing came from his very specific statements on Keon. -

What is funny to me about all this is that everyone used to say "year 3" was when WR's most often put it all together and breakout to reach their potential (I never really agreed with that per se, but that was what people felt was the more common arc). Keon for some reason is a failure though if he hasn't done that before the end of preseason as a rookie. -

Except for the fact that what he is saying isn't true. There is literally zero evidence of any kind supporting that, and a pile of evidence showing that it is categorically not the case. And he has even admitted multiple times he does not even know that Keon is behind Hollins even though he keeps pushing this theory. What is worse, is he based this "theory" on what he "heard" 2 media guys say (whose job is to speculate and entertain for a living)...of which his initial claim was that they said he was behind Hollins. When presented with clear evidence that does not seem to support that like the fact that Keon has started both preseason games and only taken all his reps with the ones since day 1 of camp, he then changed the theory and what they said to be that he is in "competition" with Hollins. So the base theory here has not even remained consistent as those are 2 very different "theories". To be honest, seeing you echo a theory with no supporting evidence other than a changing accounting for what someone claims 2 media guys said is a bit surprising. You don't generally operate on such flimsy statements. What is even more puzzling is that Keon has easily had one of the best camps of any Bills player this year, where he has taken all of his reps with the first unit since day 1. There is nothing he has done to relinquish the starting role he has been in since day 1 of camp. So its not like he is even struggling and Hollins has been rising to take his job away. Furthermore, the coaches have made no adjustments at all to Keon's role to suggest anything other than him being a starter thus far. -
I had a serious crush on Odunze and it was definitely a top 3 type draft with him right there with MHJ and Nabers. He was actually my favorite WR in the draft. But I am also someone who loves receivers who have elite ball skills and the size and strength to go get it. And that is Odunze for me, not to mention he has excellent hands and route running skills.

You know, we don't always agree (although I think we do more than we don't)...but I always respect your opinion and you as a poster as you are never afraid to admit a bad take, or something you thought turned out different, etc. You don't try and spin it and spew some nonsense to try and sound like you were still right about something that didn't pan out. And you are also not set on whatever position you initially had, you take in other views and new information and weigh it against your initial thoughts. So cheers and kudos. And also, its a long season...which has not even started yet...he can still bounce back.

How many of y'all drafted Shakir as your FF sleeper?
Alphadawg7 replied to appoo's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think this is a reasonable prediction for him. He only had 45 targets last year and got to 611 yards. Just doubling his targets puts him at 1222...and if you adjust for a little less efficiency with more volume, 1100 yards is right about what I would expect if he sees 90 targets. And I can see him finishing (assuming no injuries) with anywhere from 90-120 targets this year and I think that target range comes down to how many targets Keon sees this year. -

My first draft is tomorrow, I will be looking to take Shakir earlier than that. This is my big money league and there are a couple guys who are too savvy to let Shakir get that deep in a draft. Depending on how the board falls I think I will start considering him around round 8 as I don't know how much further he will last, assuming he makes it to my pick in round 8. In my buddies league he went round 7 and there are no Bills fans in that league. -

Huh? You disagree then repeat verbatim word for word what I have said multiple times now. I don’t get it. I said Keon has only run with the ones. You said that is not true but then follow up with well if you mean he hasn’t run with the twos. Of course that’s what I mean, it’s literally verbatim what I said. I also said multiple times that Hollins and MVS have gotten snaps with the ones but have not exclusively run with the ones as they have spent time with the twos also. And that isn’t breaking news, it’s no different than any other team where WRs that are going to see snaps in the regular season in packages or as primary backups. -

And I am basing it on the coaches employed by the Bills who make these decisions and their actions. So I respectfully disagree. The coaches have shown there isn’t by the fact that Keon is and has been an exclusive starter and Hollins has not at any point. Again, no biggie. I just have more confidence in what the coaches do and say then what someone people paid to talk and speculate do. And to be fair and more clear…I do think this season is going to be less about “starters” and more about packages. Which is why I think you are seeing guys like Hollins and MVS get time with the ones as they will be out there in different packages this season. -
Receivers the Bills could go after?
Alphadawg7 replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
No need to even revisit it…maybe one of the most unnecessary debates of the season and why I offered many times to just agree to disagree. But I do agree with your premise and post. But like I said, the topic itself isn’t even worth revisiting for anyone and think an agree to disagree is more than suitable resolution. -
Receivers the Bills could go after?
Alphadawg7 replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Again, you don’t even know if it is a competition. Hollins getting reps also with Allen does not make it a competition. Keon has been all through camp and preseason a starter. 100% of all reps, not a single snap with anyone other than the ones. Hollins has not. If anything, Hollins is vying for reps on the other boundary where Samuel may come off the field instead of Samuel lining up on one of the boundaries. And you originally said Hollins was ahead of Keon…now it’s they are in competition. You’re not even providing a cohesive complaint, let alone providing any evidence that supports either complaint. Again, free to your own opinions, but I still think it’s irresponsible to just say things as if they are true when you admittedly don’t know they are and when there is clear evidence that it isn’t accurate. -
Receivers the Bills could go after?
Alphadawg7 replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Except he is not playing ahead of Keon. And you are just ignoring everything else like the literal fact that Keon has started both preseason games and literally taken 100% of all snaps with the ones since day 1 of camp. Not to mention, Keon has one of the best camps on the team as well, not like he has been struggling. But hey, that is your right and choice to make what ever leap in logic about Hollins getting some reps with Allen you want. Just find it odd you just doubled down on it after literally just saying you don't actually know if Hollins is playing ahead of Keon. So you are basically just creating your own scenario here to which all actual evidence fully contradicts including Keon starting both preseason games, including the 2nd one when they both played, and Keon taking all snaps, reps, walkthroughs, etc as the starter since day 1 camp, something Hollins has not done. And then complaining about that scenario as if it were true, again despite the fact you just said you don't know it to be true and all existing evidence suggesting its not true. And I mean no disrespect, but you are being a bit irresponsible going around claiming Hollins is ahead of Keon when you can't support that claim nor does any of the evidence support it either. -

Do Athletes endorsements affect your purchasing?

I really want to say no...but we have also bought Josh Allens cereal...and that isn't even an impulse decision while standing in a grocery store since we are in CA and it is not in stores here...we had to consciously look for it and order it online...lmao
