  1. Good luck covering Everett with a small DB. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not willing to over pay Everett. I’d be cool with $8M, but I don’t really want to hit double digits just because of cap reasons. But, if you want a TE to block, you don’t have to put both Knox and Everett out there. You can sign a TE who is more of a pass blocker for those situations, they are cheap. But releasing both Knox and Everett on the play would be tough to defend.
  2. Bunch of stories on Twitter saying they are showing interest in both Fournette and Carson. That would be a bit of a surprise to me as I thought they really liked Damien Harris and still have Michel and Burkhead.
  3. Im just saying this was all stated by Beane long before FA. Wasn’t more a point just at the OP, more a general comment to everyone who seem to still be in denial or shock we haven’t done anything.
  4. How is this just now becoming obvious when it’s verbatim to what Beane said since the season ended? His focus was on retaining our own and there wouldn’t be any real big splashy FA expenditures.
  5. Well if he’s a decent #2, that would means he’s a very good #4 which is exactly what he would have been here. And also why he wasn’t going to come here.
  6. Me too, and the he duo of Everett as TE1 and Knox as TE2 would be a nightmare matchup in terms of athleticism. Add in having to cover Beasley out of the slot and Diggs, not to mention spying Allen and that’s a lot of pressure from a 2 TE set you can put on the defense.
  7. Fun facts: Pats just made two TE’s the third highest paid TE’s in the NFL (they both got $12.5 per season for 4 and 3 years) that respectively average 350 yards a season and 580 yards a season. That is $25m a year to them for averaging less than 1000 yards a season combined. Jonnu has never even reached 500 yards, and Hunter never reached 700 yards despite playing with much better QBs than NE has. I mean that is crazy amount of money for them IMO. These guys are not in the same class as Gronk and Hernandez combo was.
  8. Everett is a significant upgrade to Knox in the passing game. Pairing his athleticism with Allen would be a mismatch all over the field. He’s not a dynamic blocker, but he’s also not as bad as advertised. We can always sign a blocking TE for more run game support. And given Daboll is back, I’m not expecting the offense to be a lot different in philosophy next year, so I think the fact he’s got potential to a major threat for Allen in the passing game is more important attribute. I don’t think Beane will pay any TE that kind of money this year.
  9. I should add, as much as I want to sign Everett, I do NOT want to sign him to anything close to what Henry or Jonnu got. I’d much rather spend that much cap on other positions. But I also don’t think Beane would even offer that much money and use our status as a major SB run as a sweetener combined with a more fair contract. I really do not believe Beane is going to over pay to get him here. So if we sign him, I expect it’s going to be a reasonable contract.
  10. You can still add a blocking TE. Everett isn’t as bad as it’s made out to be at blocking, but his strength is definitely as a receiver. He would be a major weapon for Allen IMO and he was my favorite FA TE this year.
  11. He’s at $13M a season!? Can’t say I saw that coming for him, especially in a lower cap year. That’s a lot of money for a WR that wouldn’t start on a lot of teams in the NFL. I mean Nelson would be 4th on the depth chart here behind Diggs, Beaz and Davis. And if we still had Smoke, then Nelson would be 5th here. When I saw the signing I assumed it was like a 2 year deal around $18m or something. And even then I was like meh.
  12. He’s a better receiver than Knox. Seen a lot of him here in LA, they just had a lot of weapons including another very good TE as well. He’s not going to be a dominant blocker, but he would be a more reliable and dynamic upgrade over Knox in the passing game. He was the most athletic TE on the free agent market this year.
  13. All true as well. Also, it’s no secret that we struggled to cover Kelce, so very well could be a move he sees as a chance to exploit something in our D to help them compete for the division crown here. Maybe it’s because most the years the Pats won the SB they had marginal WRs and an elite TE...and the years they lost the SB was when they had there best WR groups. Lol
  14. This tweet doesn’t mean it’s the Bills, he just listed other playoffs teams. So I’m not gonna get excited until there is a real link to the Bills.
  15. Im not enamored with them signing both TE’s to so much money. Dont get me wrong, both are good players, but I also think both are a bit over rated, and they just over paid. I mean when you add in backups, they will be around $26m+ invested just at TE of their cap. That’s a lot. I will say this though, if there is a team who knows how to utilize two TE’s best it’s NE, so I’m sure they will get solid production out of them. But that’s just a lot of money to invest in these two guys who are both now the 3rd and 4th highest paid TEs in the league.
  16. He was and is my top FA target at TE on the market. Yes I had him ranked higher than both Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith. I would love to sign him.
  17. Laverneus Coles and Bryant Johnson
  18. Come on, he’s never broken 450 yards even once in his career. And let’s not pretend the Titans only ran the ball, Tannehill still threw for 3900 yards and 33 TDs in 2020, not to mention he’s averaged 255 yards per game in a season and a half as Titans starter. And AJ Brown and Corey Davis both missed multiple games, and he still didn’t break 450 yards. Im not saying the kid is a bum, but this notion he’s some impossible guard and mismatch every time he lines up is not showing up on the field or the stat sheet. Im not suddenly worried about the Pats because they signed a TE who averages 350 yards a season for his career. He would have been a good get for Bills, but not at that crazy price. He’s now the 3rd highest paid TE in the league despite never reaching 450 yards in his career in an offense that’s been pretty good since Tannehlll took over.
  19. What has Jonnu Smith done to earn the praise you gave him and this contract?
  20. I would do it in a heart beat.
  21. Yet he averaged 5.7 YPC in the playoffs last year. Again, your take is atrocious here. Nevermind he plays behind Nick Chubb. Your case his play has dipped is utterly ridiculous. And its not $11M for those 2, Beane would redo the contracts when they got here. And I dont care what "some" say about 26 being the new 30, because those people clearly do not know what they are talking about. And Hunt is 25.
  22. You mean the same wind that grossly affected Lamar and also the greater FG kicker in history too? You got a terrible take on that game
  23. This stage of his career? What are you talking about? Hunt is only 25 years old and has a career 4.6 YPC, and has a 5.7 YPC in the post season. He is also an excellent receiver. I dont have anything against Devin, I like him and Moss. But Hunt is just flat out better than both. And Njoku is behind a high priced FA TE they signed in Hooper and they also have a promising young TE in Bryant. He isnt struggling, its just there are 3 TE's there and Njoku also got hurt. You have a terrible take on all matters of this subject right now. Not to mention, you are also just making stuff up in other posts about Hunt's "off field" stuff.
  24. Are you aware we were 6th in the NFL in pressuring the QB, and got the QB second fastest in the NFL behind only the Steelers? So...I don’t agree with your assessments.
  25. I like that addition actually quite a bit. Nice work
