The context there was important. That was a stolen possession. In a situation where you kickoff but get the ball back on an opening drive turnover, you really have no risk there. You don’t convert, you just shortened the first half where they start with the ball giving us still the advantage getting the ball first in 2nd half. But you convert and it’s like starting with the ball both halves and scoring on the first one with the second one still to come. Now add in how demoralizing it is for them to start with a turnover in a game that is almost a must win for them against the team that’s owned them and their division since it’s their home game and a TD over a FG can feel almost back breaking. It’s mentally a 14 point swing when they come out against our depleted defense in their stadium expecting to score on the opening drive. So if there is a time to be aggressive it’s there IMHO. Had we received the opening kickoff and it was our opening drive, then I take the points unless it was 4th and short. Coming away with zero is like giving them a turnover to start the game.

Not sure you’ve been paying attention. McD is quite consistently aggressive in those situations unless the circumstances dictate otherwise.

All good, and nice response. I actually deleted my post before you replied as I didn’t want it to come off wrong or in a way I didn’t intend. I just wasn’t connecting with some of your earlier comments and must have missed some of the more updated ones. But luckily at least it doesn’t look like you took it wrong. Again, good follow up and very fair response -

You don’t think I was serious do you when I typed “Overrated.”? Not sure if this reply is because you think that wasn’t sarcastic or if you know that and you’re just more initiating some convo. To be clear, mine was a sarcastic comment. -

No drops - Zilch - There was only completion that was not clean and that was the MVS one week 1 where he slightly bobbled it before securing it, otherwise every other Allen pass attempt has been cleanly caught through 2 games. And Shakir has not dropped a pass since he was a rookie in 2022, and Allens last 28 targets to Shakir have all been completions going back to last year. He was up and down leading up to the season. Doesn't mean he can't earn my confidence back, but right now every time we line up for a kick I still lack the confidence I previously had in Bass early on.

A Few Thoughts about the Dolphins Game, in no particular order
Alphadawg7 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Oh dont get me wrong, I loved prime Cole. But if you give Shakir the same number of targets as Cole I guarantee he gets more yards, first downs, YAC, TD's and probably with a higher catch rate too. -
I was joking based on what some said when I gave our WRs and A+ last week ha I have a lot less to hate on this year…Frazier is long gone and McD proved that to be the right move last year and Dorsey is gone and Brady proved that was also the right move last year too and more this year. Davis and all his drops are gone too. Now I am prepared/expecting for MVS to piss me off at some point lol

No way. We only had 250 yards of offense, so If that was an A+ then what was the Pats playoff game when Josh had 5 TD's? 😂

Alphadawg7 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
He is already a better player than Beasley was, and that is not a knock on Beasley, but more a testament to Shakir. Beasely did not have the same strength and YAC chops that Shakir does. Shakir is a far more dangerous player than Cole was. Both these guys are major move the chains weapons when needed a completion, but Shakir brings a whole other level or gear than Cole ever had with the ball in his hands, not to mention, Cole was really only effective short areas of the field where Shakir can attack all 3 zones.- 92 replies

I'm really starting to love this WR room. We quietly got better
Alphadawg7 replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
100% agree, they are out there a lot together, and Beane has said several times they felt Keon was the best blocker of all the WR's in the draft, so they along with Allen have praised him in that regard as much as they have praised him as a receiving weapon. And you see it on the field and on film both blocking in the run game and blocking for other receivers on pass plays. That Shakir TD does not happen last week without both the blocks he got from Hollins (off the snap wipes out the nickel) and Coleman (takes his defender and blocks him deep into the endzone preventing him from making a stop at the goal line). -

As someone who watched the All-22 I can tell you this is not at all an accurate representation of whether we had guys getting open. This does not take into account, nor is there any way that it can, guys who are running routes to just draw coverage away on a play designed to get someone else open. Where it less about getting open, and more about where to run to. And both Allen and Brady have talked a lot about this, but no one seems to be paying attention. They keep praising the guys for selling those routes and its creating the kind of success we are seeing where Allen is getting the open window they designed the play for. And we are seeing the evidence on the field and on the film. Does that mean every play has this dynamic, no. But its a part of our offense and been discussed a lot on how unselfish guys are and how hard they run and sell their routes when they know the ball isn't coming their way. Now if the play gets disrupted and Allen has to scramble and extend the play, that is when guys break off those routes and try and come back and get to a spot to help Allen. -
Whoa...don't lump into the "OMG this place" crowd. My dogs name is Diggs, I was one of the few that defended Diggs a lot as being more misunderstood than a give me the ball diva. But...if you think that the Josh Allen of last year remotely resembles the same Josh Allen of this year then you were not at all paying attention last year. The narrative on Josh all year was how he didn't seem like he was having as much fun, his normal jovial self we had come to expect. So no disrespect, but you are categorically wrong if you think the energy coming off Josh this offseason, this camp, this preseason, and these first season games is not better and improved from last year. Does that mean it was like that for Diggs entire tenure, of course not. But it is a night and day difference from last year. Case in point, the first blow up between Diggs and Allen came after week 1. This team struggled in 7 of its first 10 games last year. This team turned it around when they focused less on Diggs. Denying any of that isn't facing reality. And I was one of the ones that thought there was no way we trade diggs this offseason because of the cap hit. I figured they would make it work one more season and then trade him next year. But I was wrong, and since the trade, we have seen a lot more into why this had to happen this year, especially with Beane getting a good return.

If only someone had "called that" earlier this offseason 😂
-
All anyone needs to do is look at the smiles on everyones faces in the postgame interviews. The amount of fun and joy Allen especially is playing with this year is night and day difference from last year, and that is maybe even underselling that. Just as I am sure Diggs feels better where he is right now than how he was feeling last year here. It was a win-win scenario for Diggs and the Bills.

Will Miami start taking calls on Hill?
Alphadawg7 replied to RoscoeParrish's topic in The Stadium Wall
As I said all offseason...that team is a mess, they were going to take a step back, they were unwise with how they spent money, and Grier and probably McDaniels will be in the hotseat or fired end of season when they miss the playoffs. And that was before Tua got hurt. I think the only thing that "might" save Grier's job is if Tua retires and he can lean into that as a curveball that derailed their plans...even though, with Tua, the team was still exposed as being a poorly constructed roster and a master class on why just assembling a track team is not gonna get you far in the NFL. So I would expect them to move anyone and everything and load up on draft capital and eat those cap hits to clear the cap out and rebuild around youth if Tua retires. But Grier sucks, so he probably won't do that and try and salvage just enough of the season to where they don't get that top 3 draft pick for a QB -
Too early to tell - Need to see these two get tested later in the season when there is film to game plan against them and we get into our harder parts of the schedule. But - in general, I think Brady would be more likely given he has more history to bank on.
-
The problem is, I don't think anyone can know that as no concussion is the same and it can take just days to clear or weeks. And he does have a long week to help him clear protocol, almost like a mini bye week, if he does intend to continue playing that will help him try and get back next week or week after. But I also don't disagree with you that Tua could be done or out a while, just saying we just don't know for sure yet. Personally, as a family man myself, I think he should retire and focus on his health for his family, and I think at the very least it is something he will give real consideration as he said he briefly considered that before. Either way, I think we win the division, but I just prefer to take it one week at a time instead of getting ahead of our selves and thinking we are just gonna skate through the division. Especially after the injuries we took on D so early that are keeping guys out a lengthy period of time before we face our harder tests.

If you could get a day 2 pick for Cook would you pull the trigger…
Alphadawg7 replied to julian's topic in The Stadium Wall
I get that, and I think elite RB's warrant that consideration...but do you think Cook is in that "elite" tier of RB's right now? I guess for me, I think he is very good, but I am not ready to move him up a tier into that elite status off of 2 games against 2 of the weakest run defenses we will face this year. I mean I caught flack last week for giving the RB's an A- last week...now this week people want to sign him at all costs. Feels like a bit of an overreaction, especially in a game where we had the clear advantage on the ground and any RB on our team would have scored on 2 of his TD's. SCENARIO: Let's say Ray Davis proves to be very good as many believe he can be and early returns are showing the promise of. Do you pay Cook double digits a season or do you let Cook walk and elevate Davis on his rookie deal and draft another complimentary back in the mid rounds? To be clear, I have no agenda against him and I got nothing against Cook in general by any means, loved his game yesterday (and fully expected that game from him) and excited about his season. I am just weary of investing big money into the RB position, every team who has done it generally has quickly regretted it. And to be clear, I probably value the run game and RB position more than most here as I know its value and importance come post season. But I also realize that investing in the OL and finding value in the drafts tends to be a more effective way to manage that than spending top dollar on a RB. But none the less...keep Cooking Cook!
