Will Buffalo have 2 thousand yard receivers this year?
Alphadawg7 replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think its possible to get 2 guys over 1000, but with Knox back and Davis and McKenzie even getting more snaps, I am skeptical we do just based on how much we spread the ball around. For example, some context is missing from those stats though...Knox missed 3 games and Davis wasn't used a lot first half the season. Knox is obviously an important cog to the offense, but I also think they are trying to get Davis more snaps too, even McKenzie is starting to show up in the offense some lately. Plus, I suspect Diggs will see more targets moving forward as well. 2 guys over 1000: Possible, but skeptical with everyone healthy. 3 guys over 1000: Not likely without injuries. -
Did the Jets game really prove anything????
Alphadawg7 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes it proved no one needs to think about the Jags game ever again. Off day, it happens to everyone, this is the NFL. -
I have thought about this too given how much more sporadic his usage is this year, he is not as "essential" it seems week to week in our game plan. That being said, McKenzie is no where close to Cole in ability. He doesn't have the same chops when it comes to route running, abusing defenders, and hands. McKenzie has been outstanding as a returner, and love him on the team. But our offense would take a hit if he had to replace Cole. To put it simply: Beasley is a dog out there in all the best ways. McKenzie is a finesse player. However, I don't know what Cole's future is here. He certainly didn't do himself any favors when he was boasting about not adhering to COVID rules and doing what ever he wants even if it meant losing game checks. But, I think that talk was just that...talk...and he seems to be, at least as far as we know, behaving and not putting his teammates at risk. So maybe that is behind him now. I think Cole likely is a Bill come week 1 next year, but admittedly its not as much a foregone conclusion as I would have thought it would be at this point in the season.

Things I think about Devin: Pros: Shifty - He is a guy who can make people miss and find extra yards in tight spaces. Runs hard - He is actually difficult to tackle with his powerful legs and low center of gravity, frequently keeps the pile moving forward once contact is made for such a small guy. Good vision - He sees the field well and finds seams even when none seem to be there. Cons: Quick but not fast - He is shifty and quick, especially when cutting, but he doesn't have that next gear explosion. Unreliable hands - While he can be effective in the passing game, his hands are nothing to write home about. Fit here: I wish Daboll used him better, same with Moss. We need to play to the strengths more of our RB's and give them chances to get the ball and hit the hole. We seem to run too many run plays that are slow to develop. For example, RPO's or delayed handoffs from shotgun formations. This can be maddening to watch because when they don't work, instead of it being something like a short gain to a short loss, we end up losing 4 to 6 yards which is worse than a false start penalty. At least with a false start penalty, you get to replay the down when you lose 5 yards. I wish Daboll would give our guys more opportunities to get the ball and hit holes. Until then, its not clear just how good Devin or Moss could be.

Oh gawd, please no "lets sign him BS"! He has nothing to offer. Lets recap his tenure since he last played a snap with Pitt. 1. Gives up a huge amount of money by sitting out a year to end up with a smaller contract than he would have gotten had he just stayed in Pitt and resigned. 2. Jets pay him a butt load...despite the money invested, they feel they are a better team WITHOUT him and cut him even though they badly needed a RB. 3. KC gets him for nothing, badly needed RB help...and still despite costing them barely anything, he wasn't valuable enough to keep around. 4. Ravens take a chance on him, costing them practically nothing...and despite BADLY needing help at RB dont feel he is worth keeping on the roster even though he costs them very little to have around. Seriously, what could he offer anyone at this point? Disaster at the Jets and shown to be of little value to two well coached and top flight franchises in KC and Balt even though he cost them nothing. There is no possible chance he could come here and take any playing time from Moss, Devin or even Brieda at this point. He sucks and is done.

I hate to say it … but the Pats are coming
Alphadawg7 replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lol, talk about over exaggerating a win against what is a hurting and struggling Browns team missing all its best offensive players. Pats are definitely a team that has improved, but roster to roster, ours is still quite better. The Browns defense outside Garrett is terrible. Their 4 game win streak is against a dismantled Browns team, the woeful panthers where Darnold was hot garbage, the woeful jets, and a struggling Chargers team whose only win in the last 4 weeks was a narrow one against the mediocre Eagles. So lets not over exaggerate the Pats as if they are running through the NFL's elite. They still lost to the Bucs, Saints, Cowboys, the only good teams they faced. They also lost to the Dolphins week 1. I mean the Pats barely beat the Texans even. Roster to Roster...Bills are superior in pretty much every unit. Better secondary, better safeties, better LB's, better DL...so the entire Defense. We have a far superior QB and WR group as well. We even actually have a more productive run game thanks to Allen also being a weapon in the run game. About the only area the Pats have an edge is at OL right now given our injury issues. But once we get healthy, I think they grade out a lot closer. So barring injuries, I cant see a path for the Pats to win the division over the remainder of the season. -
I never said he was a bum, I have said many times he is a good player and I like him. Again, you took one comment out of context. I already explained my stance on him many times, and you don't actually seem to disagree with that stance. You just keep coming back to this one thing that I already acknowledged came across as exaggerated. But...you are also exaggerating him a bit on the positive side. He isn't being targeted because the Cowboys are up big...they have only been up big 3 times like that the whole season. Also, this notion that his INT's aren't "lucky" either is just not entirely accurate either. Atleast 4 of them were flat out lucky. I went back and just watched all 8 only because I know there were serval I saw live that were more of the lucky caliber. Int #1: Lucky...ball bounces off hands of RB on a screen and goes right to him 4 yards away. Otherwise its a big gain as they had plenty of blocking out front for that screen to Fournette. Int #2: Not luck...makes great play on the ball thrown by Herbert. Int #3: I wouldn't call it lucky, but awful awful pass by Hurts that was behind his receiver on an out where the receiver also fell down. Easy pick for any DB. Int #4: Lucky: Darnolds pass was no where near Anderson and not only behind him but off target...had it been on target it was a big gain by Anderson who had a ton of room in front of him to run. Int #5: Not Luck: Makes a great play, similar to the one on Herbert at #2 above for his 2nd of the game against Darnold. Int #6: Not Luck: Well played on a poorly thrown deep ball that was under thrown by Danny Dimes. Int #7: Lucky: Ball went through the receivers hands, otherwise its caught for a first down. Mistake by the WR, not good coverage by Diggs. Int #8: Lucky: Pitts was wide open and Ryan throws a terrible ball that was both behind and sailed over his head right to Diggs. On target and another big gain by Pitts. FWIW, I am sure you can do this with any DB, so not meant to discredit Diggs, his 8 Ints this early in the season are insane. But you said his INT's aren't luck multiple times now, and I already knew of several that were. Again, does not diminish his 8 int's by any means, he still needs to make that catch when the opportunity arises and many cornerbacks drop a lot of those. So still deserves a lot of credit. My point here is that when he no longer gets those fortunate bounces, what are you left with? So I still think he is going to need to adjust in order to become a consistent top corner in this league. There are a lot of guys who have those big INT total seasons...but never repeat. Its what he does when he is not getting those INT's I am always more interested in when it comes to a cornerback. And right now, I think he is too hyper focused on trying to get the INT and I have a feeling its going to hurt them when they are playing in a lose and go home playoff game.

Alphadawg7 replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
What a ridiculous comment. Gee, wonder if it had anything to do with Tyrod Taylor, young developing Josh Allen, a terrible WR group, etc etc while Tom Brady and BB were winning Super Bowls still. That is the REASON why McD was 0-6...not because he is some kind of terrible coach in comparison. In those 6 losses were over whelming underdogs for a reason and the Pats were contending for SB's as we were rebuilding. -
We played the Jests. Everyone calm down...our whole Defense looked HOF worthy yesterday.
-
Its not just big plays, he is middle of the pack on giving up receptions. Like I said, there is a reason he is targeted so much. Maybe "often" came across as exaggerated, but the point is he has been playing an all or nothing style committing to the INT. And I think that is a more selfish style of play, and don't be surprised if it contributes to the cowboys getting bounced in the playoffs because he gives up too much in a game and doesn't get the INT he is selling out for. Again, I don't disagree he is a talent, but IMHO his overall play is being over rated because of the INT total is so incredible.
-
I get the Marcus Peters comparison, but I would add that Marcus has changed teams multiple times and Rams D made a significant improvement when they traded him and brought in Ramsey who makes a more consistent and bigger impact throughout each game. I don’t disagree he is a talent, I wanted to draft him even. Remember, my original comment you responded to was that I said he would not win MVP. And the reason was because he gets burned more than he gets interceptions. If he had these crazy INT totals and was a shutdown corner, maybe he would have shot at MVP. But reality is that he is giving up a lot of big plays when not making an INT, and there are just more people who make a bigger impact to their team and overall outcome of the game then his one play a game where he intercepts a pass. It’s no doubt an amazing accomplishment, and I like him. My stance is his season is not MVP worthy, and while I know he definitely has a case for DPOY, I really don’t think he deserves to win that either. I would vote for either Watt, Garrett or Donald before I’d vote for Diggs this year. One could make a case Diggs isn’t even the most important person on his own Cowboys defense and that Parsons is.
-
Dont get me wrong, I like him and his INT total is crazy…but I don’t think his style of play is sustainable. Yeah, the INTs are exciting, but he won’t ever be able to keep that pace or volume in terms of frequency. At some point to be an elite corner he’s going to have to adjust. When the turnovers stop happening so frequently, he’s just going to be a another guy who gives up too many plays or TDs that teams don’t fear like they fear a Tre White for example. There is a reason why teams keep throwing at him. There is a reason teams don’t throw at White. Don’t get me wrong, his INT total is insane right now, and a major accomplishment. And I agree him and Parsons are really impacting that D between his interceptions and Parsons overall play. But I think his style is gonna catch up to him and we will see then if he can adjust and start becoming a guy teams avoid. Parsons has been phenomenal for them and I think is headed to becoming an elite player for a long time.

Picking up Edmunds Option a Rare Beane Mistake

Picking up Edmunds Option a Rare Beane Mistake
Alphadawg7 replied to Billy Zabka's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lmao. What a ridiculous thing to bring back up. Ironically, our defense gave up more points today without Edmunds than our #1 NFL leading average with Edmunds. But here we are, this nonsense again. How does Edmunds suddenly become the scape goat again when he didn’t even play today? -
What prompted the change to our offense, and other questions?

I will give you that, don't disagree there. I was more referencing his ability to get open -

1. Knox I think has been the bigger factor of less red zone opportunities for Davis. He has become more of a focal point down there. 2. We have an OL problem and offensive scheme problem in terms of the run game. We run way too much from gimmicky formations or off RPO's, all of which are slower to develop preventing the backs from hitting the hole harder and faster. 3. The bigger issue on deeper plays has been our pass protection. Far too often we have defenders running free at Josh causing him to scramble and people to improvise and break off routes...or he gets sacked, or has to take a quick shorter option. And we have also had way too many situations of down and very long thanks to bad penalties, stupid first down calls, sacks, etc. This allows the defense cheat deep and focus on taking that away. 4. I think the issue is more centered around the OL struggles. 5. I agree, and I think this is where Daboll has been terrible. He isn't adjusting to what the defense is doing in how he calls a game. 6. Sanders has been very good, our woes are not in relation to him. 7. I think McKenzie has been subject to his expanded ST role, and just having a lot of weapons to get involved already on offense. Harder to call specialty plays for someone like him who never sees the field much until those plays are called, makes them easier to defend too. 8. I don't think there is any "souring" of any kind. Josh is a fiery player, and I think that was more him trying to wake everyone up and fire them up. -
Im just saying all I keep seeing is the over fixation on one game as if the past season and a half never happened. Clearly, the Jags game is FAR FAR FAR more likely to be an "outlier" than the majority of the past season and a half from Allen being the "outlier". Teams/Players lay duds from time to time, its the NFL, every player in the HOF has done it many times. Mahomes has done it many times this season alone, not to mention the SB last year. Its part of the game. But if you read TSW this week, you would think we are winless and need to find a new HC and GM, and look for Allens replacement. And my comment was more directed at the general overall panic by so many around here and across the board, than just you specifically.

If he TRULY is about winning, he will take the minimum and sign to play with Rodgers for rest of season and chase a ring. They by far are the best team interested in signing him right now and have the best QB of the teams interested in signing him. If thats all BS, and money still matters...he will go to a middling team that is probably no better than a lower seed playoff team likely to get bounced early...like the Raiders or Seahawks.
-
You remember that game where Tom Brady threw 4 INTs? Yeah, nobody else does either even though its happened more than once. The fixation on one game erasing an MVP candidate season this year and last year is beyond absurd. Hey guys, we have what was the overall favorite to win the MVP...who was the runner up last year to the MVP and who is still the second most favorite to win the MVP after a rough outing...lets throw all that out the window, act like none of that happened and just fixate on one bad game. That makes more sense. Clearly we drafted the wrong Josh. Cut him and start the NVP and begin the Trubisky era.
-
Im delusional? You started a thread about him NOT throwing under neath when he probably threw UNDERNEATH more in this game than he has all season. Sorry, your thread is ridiculous in that nature as many others have already pointed out to you and showed you the actual facts of how much he did throw underneath. Funny a lot of them are people I have never even heard of or rarely see around here (not saying the OP here, but in general). Suddenly they are in like 100 threads whining about all this doom and gloom nonsense, McD and Beane suck, Allen sucks, our receivers suck, our DL sucks...and so on and so on. Just say something negative in the thread title and these ghosts will post 100 times in that thread. Once we win again, we wont hear from them until the next loss.
-
Huh? You literally started a thread and poll about who to blame, Beane or McD and been ranting in this thread about overall things not just one game. So no, you’re making it a bigger season long and even over both McD and Beanes overall time here. Beane didn’t play on Sunday, so you’re literally making it season long issue or more just including him in the poll. Lol You realize the secondary benefits from the DL correct? Our secondary struggled last year with our DL issues. Star is back and we added more youth and talent upfront and suddenly we lead the league in takeaways. The fact you don’t seem to see the correlation is puzzling. And again, we have the number 1 defense in the league, the fact you keep complaining about any part of our D is even more puzzling. And the OL you’re upset about this week was missing 2 important starters. Most teams don’t have starting caliber backups on the OL, it might be the single most talent deficient position in the overall NFL right now. I heard all the subpar nonsense about Beane not being able to address WR. Then we wound up with one of the best WR groups in the NFL. Rousseau already won some rookie accolades thus far and our DL is much improved from last year, and you’re trying to sell this story now that he can’t address the OL. Sorry man, nothing you’re saying makes a lot sense and seems rooted in post loss anger more than facts.
-
Not a true deep threat? I am not sure where that comes from, Diggs is one of the top 5 deep threats in the league. Sanders is also a deep threat and gotten open on several times where Josh just missed him or was under duress and couldn't get the ball there. Both are better deep threats than Brown, its more that the defenses have been scheming to take away the big play and our OL also has not been able to get Josh the kind of protection he needs to let deep plays develop and hit the pass. So, respectfully disagree it has anything to do with Brown. Especially since Brown was almost non existent last year and barely played when we had the top offense in the NFL.
-
All I can say is watch the games more closely. Because if you did pay attention you would see our 3 losses were close games where we left MULTIPLE scores EACH game on the field thanks to drive killing penalties. Every time our team gets momentum, we shoot ourselves in the foot. Yes the OL is also a problem with its protection, no doubt. But we have the personnel we have at this stage of the game. Getting our 2 starters back will help a lot, but even after we do, the frequency at which they make critical mental mistakes with false starts and holding calls has to drop. If it does, we will be much better as an offense. No one said the OL didn't struggle. I said, despite the OL struggles, we are undefeated right now literally if we eliminated the drive killing penalties that left a lot of points on the field during all 3 of our close losses. Does it mean we suddenly blow out the Jags or Titans if we just correct the untimely penalties plaguing our team? Nope. But it means we win the game. Scoreboard is what matters. Josh Allen is so athletic he can make things happen with the OL breaking down enough times to keep us in games and win games. But he can't over come both the OL struggles and the penalties that kill our drives and scoring chances. Eliminate the penalties and we are the only undefeated team in the NFL today. Part of that is also on utterly terrible calls by refs in what might the single worst season I have ever seen for refs across the entire league. I don't know what is up this year, but overall the refs have been a total mess this season league wide.
