Madden for sure. BUT: I have to admit, I really like Tony Romo now. I know he doesn't have that all time clout yet, but he is my current favorite by a wide margin out there right now.

Personally, I would love a trade down if we can pickup maybe a second and third this year or even multiple seconds (like Atlanta) this year. Draft is rich in 2nd and third rounds IMO this year in areas that can really help the team. Or even an extra first next year could be big too.

No doubt it’s Edmunds, Oliver, Knox and Devin’s agents most likely calling too.

Good picks. Hard to fault the McDuffie pick here. Only thing I wonder about though is if Falcons might look at another position than CB here with AJ Terrel and now Casey Hayward also there after signing a 2 year deal. Don’t get me wrong, Hayward isn’t a long term fixture, so McDuffie certainly a realistic option in this scenario and could play the slot (or Hayward could move back to the alot) which would set their secondary up pretty nice the next 2 years. But wonder given who is on the board if they would maybe consider an edge rusher like Karlaftis or even QBs like Howell or even Ridder and then look at maybe adding a CB later in second or third round.

Agreed…likely no chance he would have even made it past the Ravens at 14 pre-injury. Could have been gone even before that pick too. And like I said, it’s certainly possible still the Ravens take him at 14 even now after the injury. The main reason I went Jordan Davis at 14 in this mock was simply the fact that Ojabo is so good because of his athletic ability, and there is no guarantee with Achilles tears that he will regain all of that ability back once recovered. But, I think it’s still probable he does, so taking him now at 28 makes a lot of sense to me and properly factors in the risks.

Agreed, it’s not out of the question they don’t still take him at 14 either TBH. I very briefly considered Karlaftis here, but I don’t know, I’m not sold on him. He didn’t run at the combine, his bench was mediocre, and he only had 4.5 sacks last year. And all I keep hearing is about his motor as to why to ignore low sack production and mediocre strength and speed. Reminds me of the old Bills. He just seems like a risk. I’m always leery of guys who have to explain why their production was low. Also concerns me to hear him make excuses and then also say he doesn’t care about sacks, and that there are other ways to affect the play. Which IS TRUE but, I want a “closer” in the first round, not a guy who just gets some pressure in there. So while I still think he’s a good prospect, And good value for who takes him soon, I think his ceiling is just lower than a guy like Ojabo, especially for the Ravens where Macdonald knows him and the system being installed by him is similar to what Ojabo excelled in at Michigan.

With the 28th pick in the draft, the Baltimore Ravens select: David Ojabo, OLB Michigan Our new DC Macdonald knows Ojabo better than anyone from their time together in Michigan, and we know what kind of a player we are getting. His unfortunate injury saw him slide, but our medical staff and coaches have full confidence in a full recovery and that he will help us win ball games this season. At 28, the talent is just too much to pass up here and we feel he will make an immediate impact once back on the field some time likely early this season, especially with us installing a similar system to what Ojabo played in at Michigan. Once our target at 14, we are thrilled to be able to move up here and make sure he is a Raven. Ojabo feels a big need for us, our sack total was the lowest as it’s been in years. Adding Jordan Davis and now Ojabo, we feel our defense is headed back in the right direction to get back to those vaunted defenses the Ravens have been known for. I didn’t say facts are facts about what he would fetch. I said facts or facts about his resume. On his trade value, I have said each time “IMHO”. And no you won’t wait and see what Edmunds fetches in trade…because he’s not going to be traded without an offer Beane can’t refuse. He is worth a lot more to us this year in pursuit of a SB trophy than the trade value you previously placed on him which was peanuts. Nothings impossible, but it’s unlikely he gets traded this year.

Teams don’t trade 2 first round picks for a strong safety who can’t cover either…yet that happened. No disrespect, but the “historical” argument I always find pointless. The game is forever evolving, and trade values or importance of roles are changing with that. And how teams value players they can add in FA or trade will vary with each team and the makeup of that team. Look at the WRs this year, their values went through the roof off a couple free Agency moves (especially Kirk) that changed the compensation and value charts of WRs immensely across the league. So I don’t care what’s happened before, facts are facts. 24 year old LB, multiple pro bowls, 5th in league in tackles since entering the league, athletic freak, great in coverage in a passing league, captain of the the number 1 defense in the NFL. I’m not even saying he isn’t replaceable, I’m just sighting his resume to those on the outside looking in. And opposing coaches and players gush about him all the time and he is the by far the most cited player opposing teams talk about game planning for each week. so his reputation and admiration is strong IMHO across the league. He, at his position with his coverage ability, has more value right now than ever before. Which is exactly why he will almost certainly not be traded ahead of a serous push for the first SB victory in Bills history unless Beane gets an offer he can’t refuse.

Agree that trade was a disaster, and agree two firsts like that won’t likely happen again soon. But we are talking a single first or second here for a highly productive and decorated 24 year old LB who can drop back into coverage. I think Beane could get that value if he wanted. But like you and I agreed earlier, I don’t think Beane is out calling people shopping him this season either. I’m sure he listens if someone calls him though.

I agree about what will happen, he’s gonna play this season in Buffalo and they will make decisions about him next off season. Always could tag him too. I’m not wrapped up in historical value, the game is always evolving. Edmunds is just such a rare athletic talent to go with high production and multiple pro bowls while still only being 24. It’s a passing league, and not only that but there are lots of dangerous TEs out there too these days. Having a rangey LB who can cover has never been more important, and his value as an off the ball defender has never been higher IMHO.

I think he gets at least a second straight up personally and still could get a first potentially. He is on his rookie deal, we don’t have to sweeten the pot for someone to take him so we can get a second IMHO. Across the league he is considered one of the best young LBs in the NFL by many of his peers. Again, 5th in tackles since entering the league and that includes playing a huge part of a season hurt in 2020. And honestly, zero percent chance we trade him for anything less. He’s worth more to us this year than that, and Beane IMHO will rather have him for our SB push and risk losing him for nothing rather than trade him for less than a 2nd rounder. Marshawn Lynch was NOT the same player in Buffalo that he became in Seattle. He also was one ill-timed fart from a league suspension with his off field issues that included a hit and run on an old lady. It was almost a miracle we got that much for him given his character questions off the field at that point. And yeah, I think it’s possible he gets a first or second. You’re overly negative on him, the league, coaches, and fellow players are not.

Edmunds would fetch at least a 2nd round pick, maybe a first. His reputation and respect across the league is much higher than on TSW. Tyrod Taylor was traded for the first pick of the 3rd round when people here said we wouldn’t get a 6th or 7th for him. So I don’t think the internal TSW negativity translates to the GMs who would evaluate his value. He has the 5th most tackles in the NFL since entering the league and made 2 pro bowls in 4 years. He is an athletic freak who can also drop back in coverage. He is more valuable than people think here in this board in a trade.

Fair enough, I will agree on that fact alone it was a hair aggressive comparison there. But it was more about his NFL playoff record one and done In the playoffs as a top seed. And while he made 4…he beat Rex Grossman for the first one. Got blown out in the next 2 appearances while fielding the top offense those seasons, including one that was the all time greatest offense in history…lost a combined 74-15 in those 2 as well. His 4th appearance, he was the lowest rated QB that season and his defense and run game carried them all season and through the SB and won the game while he had the single worst performance in SB history by a winning QB. So while he made more SBs, his not getting done in the playoffs as a whole like Rodgers is still relatively comparable.

With the 14th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select: Jordan Davis, DT Georgia Lots of good options here at 14, considered help at tackle, OLB, and Edge. But ultimately the value of Davis here and putting him on our DL with Calais Campbell was too good to pass up. We already know he is a run stuffing mountain who eats space and blockers. But we also believe with his athletic gifts we can add some finesse moves to go with his bill rush to make him a disruptor for us moving forward from the middle. On the clock are @H2o and the Eagles.
