Deshaun Watson to Browns - $230 million guaranteed
Alphadawg7 replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
So Houston got no players in this deal? Thought Houston said they wanted at least 1 or 2 players back in a trade too? -
Trading Edmunds makes no sense at this point
Alphadawg7 replied to bubba2018's topic in The Stadium Wall
And yet when Cover1 or any other analysis say he had a good game, people still come on a dump on him too. Its all good, youre a good poster, so meaning no disrespect. But in my book, there is no denying his criticism is over the top and grossly exaggerated. He isn't perfect, he has things he can do better, but the role he plays here he does better than people give him credit for. And honestly, its not really debatable when you read the bad takes all over this board. Not lumping you into that description, just in general the over exaggeration that goes on around him. -

I get what you are saying, but its also kind of an inaccurate thing to say. They dont heap praise on Milano they way they do Edmunds or really other players. In fact, Edmunds is probably he most often mentioned player in our defense by those people. In fact, the guys that most often get pointed out with praise are Edmunds, White, Hyde and Poyer. They don't have to mention Edmunds, yet they do on the regular. -

Yet GM's, players, our own staff, defensive coordinators, opponents etc all say differently. So theres that too. He isnt perfect, but he isnt nearly as bad as you and others make him out to be. -

Yet the people who know a lot more about football than all of us here are always praising just how well he does his "job". So theres that too. And not just his teammates, opponents, defensive coordinators, even our new signees. In fact, you will be hard pressed to find anyone who analyzes players professionally or plays the game professionally that will be anywhere near as negative about him as people here. If you listen to TSW, they call him a bust on the regular, and want him gone immediately. Its a joke the level of criticism he gets here. That doesn't mean he cant get better or hasn't missed plays. It means, the negativity here is more often than not way over the top and over exaggerated. And while there are people who understand his role and are still critical, many do not and you can tell by just reading the grossly over exaggerated hot takes and comments they spew out constantly. We are talking about a guy who gets beat up after wins where he played quite well...they still in threads bashing his play that game. Its totally fair to question what he is worth or what we should pay him, and if that fits into your future plans. But the level of hate he gets is beyond unreasonable. -

Alphadawg7 replied to bubba2018's topic in The Stadium Wall
It never made sense unless he wasn’t in their future plans. Which we still don’t know yet, but our GM, Coaches, players, and even the new players continue to praise him and refer to him as good to even one of the better LBs in the NFL. I keep saying it, what people hate most about Edmunds has more to do with how we use him more than anything. I don’t see us trading him unless we get a really good offer. We are making a big push for SB this year, they aren’t just gonna easily give away the captain of the D and create yet another hole. -
Star released. Pre-6/1 per Joe B, $1.5M cap savings.
Alphadawg7 replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
As we have discussed before, I’ll provide the additional context here for those who aren’t familiar with what really happened in terms of that quote. Correct…Star never said that. A reporter said that years ago to convey the strength of Stars love and motivation for his family. People twisted this to be something it’s not. Same article praises his work ethic and his dedication to helping and fighting for his teammates. It’s a total farce that Star didn’t love football based on people inaccurately attributing a journalists comment to Star. Just like it was a total farce he never played here like people say when he didn’t miss a single game until week 1 this year, the only game he ever missed with us due to injury. He had COVID complications that led to a few more games missed this season. -
I mean without question CB is our biggest hole. We have 2 starters at WR in Diggs and Davis. Currently we have zero starting CB’s. Tre should be back, but no guarantee he doesn’t have a set back, and no clue to what kind of player he will be when he first comes back. It can take a while to regain form even after returning. So if the two players are equal, we need a CB. BUT: The correct answer is, and will be, the BPA according to Beane’s board. The one caveat is that Beane has said that when there are multiple players there that are all graded pretty similarly, then things like the depth of the draft at each position plays a role. So they may take the 2nd guy on their board instead if there is a bigger drop off in the next rounds at that position. But again, only in a situation where they have similar grades.

Agreed, but Stars first game he missed as a Bill was week 1 this year. And they he missed a few with COVID. So like I said, had he not taken a year off his value here would have been seen more favorably because Star didn’t really miss games. -

Or half the board doesn’t understand his role. Like half the board hates Edmunds because they don’t understand what they truly hate is how we use him. There are areas he can get better but he isn’t remotely close to as bad as half the board thinks he is. So that not a good barometer because I can’t tell you more than half the board is wrong about most things as with any fan base. #WrongJosh -

Best part about this is not having to listen to the same posters on here dramatically whine about him to no end over and over again. Like Groundhog Day around here with some of these people. -

He was more than meh when he played, and he never missed a game until this year outside of the COVID year he sat out. Had he not sat out a year I would think the signing would have yielded even more results. But while he was a good piece when on the field, we got noticeable better and more versatile at DT this year, so this was inevitable as you said. -
Breaking: Von Miller to bills, 6 year , 120 million
Alphadawg7 replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Stefan Diggs - Drafted 5th round Gabriel Davis - Drafted 4th round Cooper Kupp - Drafted 3rd round Davante Adams - Drafted 2nd round So why does the first round pick have to be a WR? And no disrespect, but you first bullet point is silly. We don’t have to send any message about “offense not being neglected”. Not only is that just a weird thing to think we need to do, but we agreed to terms with 3 offensive players already in FA, and signed 2 of them. No one’s neglecting the offense. This is a WR rich draft like in 2019 that saw guys like Deebo Samuel, DK Metcalf, AJ Brown, Diontae Johnson, Terry McLaurin, Hunter Renfrow, Darius Slayton, etc all get drafted in round 2 or later. CB is a huge need, so not only is it possible we go corner, I would say that if there is both a WR and CB there they love and are closely graded, he’s taking the corner given there will be exciting WRs still available in the 2nd. Doesn’t mean he won’t go WR either, or even another position, Beane likes to stay true to BPA on his board. But I would think that WR will likely need to be graded noticeably better than the DB to take him though. Beane has said he takes depth of the draft at each position into consideration when the grades are close. -
BLOCKBUSTER! Packers Trade Adams to Vegas
Alphadawg7 replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
That’s a steep investment in a 30 year old WR who has some injuries. Stunned they made this move in a WR rich draft. AFC West has been wild this off-season for everyone but KC so far. -
I mean they had 3 starting caliber TEs too in Brate, Gronk, and Howard. Let’s not forget that either, they can’t all get snaps and get the ball

Despite what anyone thinks of Baker, I have to say the Browns handled this whole situation terribly, and basically in line with how the Browns always do dumb things. Not meant in any type of defense of Baker, but I don't blame him for wanting out the way the Browns handled this whole ordeal.

And not only is he headed there, but I guess they still want to bring OBJ back too. Not sure how OBJ is gonna feel about being in such a crowded WR room after already winning a ring, or how the Rams can pay so many WR's...so that seems unlikely to me. But Allen Robinson joining Kupp and Woods gives Stafford a pretty dangerous chest of weapons.

This is a great signing, good defender against the run on the edge.

AZ cuts Jordan Phillips - now signed by Bills

I think Settle will be in there for the pass rushing group myself, with Phillips rotating in with Oliver. -
New Bills signees - press conferences 3-17
Alphadawg7 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
He ended the press conference with "Shaq sign the contract"! Sounds like he has a deal in front of him now, should be in bound at some point it would seem. -
Chandler Jones, Jordan Davis, DK Metcalfe, maybe Gronk
Alphadawg7 replied to Ghs24mike's topic in The Stadium Wall
I mean the moves youre touting here were all pretty obvious moves that everyone most assumed were going to happen for the most part. The issue is you proposed something that was just insanely impossible. I mean you have us trading for DK...which takes at least one premium pick...then somehow still having enough ammo to trade up for Davis...and then yet again having enough ammo to somehow trade up and get a top CB prospect too. I mean come on lol. Then there is all the money you were spending on top of that to sign Chandler and Gronk, pay DK, extend Edmunds and Oliver now, etc. And yeah, you mentioned "fantasy" but after said all this is "doable" and then followed it with "but hear me out" which by default is going to get heavily scrutinized after those infamous TSW words. -

Alphadawg7 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Saw this live, he killed his press conference. Mafia is gonna love this guy. Ive been saying that Settle might end up being our sneaky best signing of the offseason. I think the kind is poised to emerge this year now that he isn't buried on the depth chart. He is someone who can get in the backfield, and I think he will start at 1T opposite Oliver and play most passing downs with Jones coming in on shorter yardage and run downs. We should have a nasty DT rotation this year, especially if we sign Phillips like he alluded to on his social media. -
Bills sign DT Tim Settle, formally of Washington Commanders.
Alphadawg7 replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
This kid is killing his interview! Love his energy. He is fired up to be here and still cant believe it. Mafia is gonna love this dude. Ive been saying, he might be the sneaky best signing of the off season. I think this kid is poised for a potential emergence now that hes not buried on the depth chart. I feel like he is going to emerge as the starer at 1T next to Oliver and will be a guy who is going to get into the backfield and wreak some havoc. -
Drafting Jameson Williams will make us unstoppable
Alphadawg7 replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall
While the logic makes sense, its not Beanes style to look into a position as must draft at this spot, he is a strong believer in BPA on his board. Now...that being said, people take BPA way to literal around here, its clearly not ever purely BPA, I mean we aren't taking a QB if that is who is BPA at our pick. Needs are always baked into their grades on their board, and when they say BPA, its based on their board grades, not peoples mock drafts or anything. But if Jameson is graded higher than what ever DB they have the highest grade on at that spot, I have no doubt he would take Jameson. HOWEVER: Beane has also said (what should be common knowledge, but again people take BPA way too literal) that if there are 2 players that are "closely" graded, then things like depth of that position in the draft can come into play too. So if Jameson is the top guy on their board, but the CB had a similar grade, then the draft being very deep at WR could influence them to take the CB instead if they felt the fall off was greater in the next rounds at DB.
