  1. I originally had been eying either DT or OL for the Falcons with this pick, but several of the DT and even Edge guys I thought might be there were gone. So then it came down to Walker, Spiller, Smith, or Woolen. But given CB is the one area we are not a total mess right now, that ruled him out. I liked Walker more than Spiller, so Spiller came into consideration after Walker was picked, but just didn't have him graded as high as Smith and stuck to BPA. I don't think Smith will last this deep in the real draft, but if he did I think the Falcons would be stoked to add a mauler to their OL with their second pick in the 2nd round.
  2. With the 48th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons run to the podium and select: Tyler Smith, OL Tulsa Having selected a new offensive weapon and a new QB to groom, its time to address the trenches. Tyler Smith is a terrific athlete and very powerful. Expecting him to go in the second half of round 1 or early round 2, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to add him to our roster with our 2nd pick in the 2nd round. Rumor has it that it was down to the wire with the Bills the previous pick, and we are happy he fell to us. We love his versatility where he started at Left Tackle all through college but could be an even better fit in the NFL at Guard. Needing help badly across our line, especially on the interior, we see him as a day 1 starter. @glazeduckand the Green Bay Packers are now on the clock.
  3. Ideally I Would absolutely love landing Jameson in the first and Woolen in the 2nd. BPA in the 3rd at OL, LB, CB, RB. This would be my ideal draft scenario.
  4. They told me that too though when I mocked Cody Ford to us in the 2nd round that year he was drafted. He was supposed to be gone around pick 15-25. So its possible, guys slip all the time from where they were in mocks.
  5. That I would be very much in favor of, a first next year would be a very valuable asset
  6. I dont like it, I would rather draft at 25 then do that deal.
  7. Even if you think that, that would still mean he was runner up to DPOY. Point is, he is better than you are saying he was.
  8. Is DK the player worth it. Yes. Is it worth it for us. No. We cant afford him and Diggs, and Diggs is a better all around receiver. So we would sacrifice those picks for a one year rental and lose him for nothing next year. I would rater hold those picks and draft a WR who can be here 4 to 5 years before big money would be due. Plus, we are pretty strong already at WR this year, not a pressing need. Not gonna happen.
  9. Yet he would go on to win DPOY in NE. A lot of players feel that way about "mandatory" camp, its not unusual. While I seriously doubt Gilmore returns as I don't think we can pay him enough, and he doesn't need to ring chase given he is already a SB Champion, there is no denying he would be immediately be the 2nd best DB on the team behind only White and could help us win a championship this year.
  10. Its way too early for them to know or think that with any confidence. Setback can also happen at any time. Even if Tre is ready week 1, its going to take a while, maybe most the season for him to start approaching what he was before the injury. This isn't an injury that you typically step back onto the filed near your peak. There is a physical and mental aspect to it that usually takes players the better part of a season to work through. Even if we had Tre, we still only have 2 CB's on the roster in him and Dane, its by far our thinnest position even if Tre wasn't hurt. So IMHO...nope. I do not think where he is currently at, good or bad, will impact their draft approach in anyway. A CB will be a massively high priority come draft night unless we make some sort of a move or sign someone who is capable of being a solid or better starter.
  11. Good pickup by the Pats. Won’t be enough, but I think it’s a solid move.
  12. Why do you guys do this to yourselves? Let it go, move on to next season, you will have more fun.
  13. Honestly, I think the draft class is weak in terms of top tier QB talent...but actually very strong in that next tier of QB prospects. Guys who are going to go in the 2nd and 3rd rounds dont really grade a lot lower than guys likely going in the first. Its a good year to take a stab at one here where the investment into them is minimal (a single non-first round pick) but have the potential to emerge as a good starter still in the NFL. Guys like Howell, Corral, Ridder, Strong all guys that still have some legit upside. Personally I have Corral and Howell very close, and I was previously leaning Corral, but honestly I think Howell is being slept on and is better built to have a longer career. If I am the Falcons, I am eyeing a QB in the 2nd and taking a top tier prospect at 8 in the first.
  14. With the 43rd pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons select: Sam Howell, QB North Carolina. While QB was a consideration for us at the 8th pick, we didn't feel we could pass up on an elite talent like Garett Wilson at that spot. But here with the 11th pick in the 2nd round, we are excited to select what we feel is one of the best QB prospects in this draft to come in and learn behind our veteran leader Mariota. We feel people are sleeping on Howell over what was for some reason a perceived down year. This down year still saw him throw for over 3000 yards, 24 TDs while rushing for over 800 yards and another 11 TDs. He is a strong armed and accurate QB who can extend and make plays with his legs. We feel there is a lot top end traits in him and watched him remain accurate and productive even as he continued to lose weapons each year to the draft. We look forward to seeing him come in and compete with and learn from Mariota. @frostbitmicand the Cleveland Browns are now on the clock.
  15. I don't know that I agree that he has a low ceiling, I think that is being a bit over exaggerated with him personally.
  16. I get your “logic” here, and Chiefs definitely need the defensive help. But I think it’s unlikely they don’t give their half billion dollar QB a new shiny toy here with one of these 2 picks. Hill was just too important of a piece for them.
  17. Beane is pretty stealth about his plans, but if hes reached out and inquired about a potential move up, I can see how it leaked out of that teams side. So, its certainly possible we might make a trade up just on the sheer fact that we don't have an easy roster for rookies to make. Going after a player he covets that can immediately help this team certainly makes sense for a team like us right now. Its gonna def be interesting to see how this plays out, hard to put stock into any Bills rumors the way Beane stealthy operates, but a trade up wouldn't surprise me at all, especially for a CB.
  18. Oh I thought someone here said he got a 1 year $10M or $11M deal...maybe I misread something. Yeah, if it was $4M then that would have likely been in our ball park at least.
  19. I didn't say we wouldn't draft one WR or that we wouldn't even take 2 WR's in the whole draft...I scoffed at the idea of drafting 2 with our first 2 picks while we have only Dane Jackson as a corner who could start week 1...and that is just not gonna happen. We very well could take 2 WR's in this draft, but I will bet you anything our first 2 picks are not both going to be WR's if our CB situation is the same on draft night.
  20. Huh? Back to back WRs even though we signed crowder? How does this make sense? Diggs, Davis, Crowder, TD Jesus, Stevenson. Yet you draft 2 WRs with first 2 picks even though we literally have just one cornerback on the roster who could start today? I’ll take “Things that will never happen for $500 Alex”
